My yard was in awful shape. It was an unsightly patch of mainly hard, brown dirt that wrapped around the perimeter of my house, punctuated with mounds of loose dirt kicked up by gophers. I wanted to transform my yard into an attractive garden but didn't know where to begin. Working with Ben, a landscape architect Noah recommended, we came up with a beautiful design that worked within our budget. The plan called for, among other things, installing a new irrigation system, a small lawn area, several trees, dozens of plants, and a pathway that wrapped around the yard. The project took four weeks to complete, and my wife and I are elated with the results! We now have a beautiful, inviting yard. Even our neighbors have offered passing compliments. From the very get-go, we had no doubts that Machtinger Landscaping would do a stellar job (as they did with our French drain). During the project, Noah often came to our house and briefed us on the progress, answered any questions we had, and made sure his crew had all the necessary tools and supplies so that there would be no delays in the work. Along the way, we even had Noah help us replace a broken fence and add three wooden steps to a sloped area of the yard (not part of the original plan), which he dealt with promptly. We felt comfortable and cared for in Noah's hands. In particular, I want to give a shoutout to Ernesto and his crew (Gustavo, Arturo, and Javier). All of them are highly skilled, experienced, hardworking, professional, friendly, and kind. Ernesto made several aesthetic and practical suggestions that were not part of our original plan. We concurred with all of them. As a result, our garden exceeded the original plan because of Ernesto's suggestions. On what my husband said to them - My husband told me they came to the door and said they're done, which is different than what Jacob said he said. Because what Jacob did not mention was that I told the brother to talk to ME and not my husband, which he didn't do. I said to text/call me. He didn't do that either. My husband works from home. He should've checked, but I said to his brother to talk to me because I knew my husband would be too busy to check. We can go on and on about "he said, she said," (or in this case, "he said, he said,") situation. In my experience, that isn't helpful which is why I only wrote about my experience and what the end product looked like. But since it was mentioned, I wanted to add those additional information so people can get the whole picture. Jacob was right that they were notified and that they came back the next day to pick up the debris, which is what we agreed to. I want everyone reading this to know that the team that came and did an exceptional job, was only expected to pick up the debris. When Jacob mentioned I said they went "above and beyond" was because they picked up the debris AND decided on their own terms (I assume) to clean the yard the way a clean up should have been done in the first place. I told this to Jacob in the hope that they would be celebrated. It was a giving and vulnerable gesture for Jacob to share another gardener's contact information. I'm still debating whether it would be a good idea or not. Vintage definitely will do their best to mend their mistakes. They're kind and respectful people. They want to do well. I want to be clear that I could not recommend Vintage not because that they're mean or awful people. No; They aren't. I can't recommend them because I want to recommend a lawn service that knows how to do the job they are advertising themselves for, consistently. My standard for a clean up is for the company to pick up the rotten fruits on the ground, to cut the lawn/weeds low, to not pull delicate plants that were mentioned not to, and to pull weeds that were clearly overgrowing. They didn't meet those standards. I've had multiple experience with them for yard maintenance and now, two times with yard clean up. I commend them for always trying to fix their mistakes, but again, these yard expectations should be done on the first time. This review was based off of months of using them for yard maintenance and now yard clean up twice. Perhaps they do better in a much more manicured yard setting where they're able to focus on just the lawn and rose pruning -- something more straight forward and simple. With my review, I hope if people are going with them that they are attentive to these things so they have a better experience than I did. I hope they hold Vintage more accountable. If Vintage truly are "willing to fix their mistakes and will gladly jump at the opportunity to mend this less than stellar service," then I hope this review will help them towards that. It is unfortunate it didn't work out with me, but please make your own decision and let's hope there's growth.
