My family & I love how gentle and caring Dr. Chona is. We have been going to her for 13 years now. I get very anxious whenever I have to go to the dentist but she always makes sure I am comfortable before, during & after the procedure. I trust her so much that I refuse to go to any other dentist or even a specialist. She had previously referred me to an oral surgeon for an extraction but I refused. I had asked if she can do it instead because I trust her & knew she would take care of me. She studied my case carefully before agreeing to doing it. She did a great job that I only felt mild pain after the numbness wore off. The next day, I was fine like I didn't even get the procedure done. She takes good care of us every time. It is always a pleasure seeing her. We couldn't have had a better dentist than Dr. Chona. Her gentle hands, care & compassion for her patients are just a few of the reasons we keep coming back. I went from potentially being a loyal patient to never wanting to come here again... Here's why: Edit: This office is petty because I gave them a legitimate review that they are not willing to take. Maybe if your service was a lot better, I wouldn't have given you such a low review. Asked them politely to delete my deep clean authorization and received no response. I guess a review is more important to you than a patient's oral health? When I came to Dr. Chona, I had cavities and my tooth would be in pain. I came to get checked and she saw my x-rays and noted that I needed fillings. She also stated that I needed a deep clean and indeed I did. The problem was that through my insurance, it takes 3-6 weeks in order for the deep cleaning to be approved by my insurance. From the jump, I was told that they don't do deep cleaning for my insurance because they have to go out of their way in order to fill out the paperwork and that they're busy. This right here was a red flag from the jump. This showed me that they are the type of dental office that doesn't go out of their way in order to satisfy their patients(this is how you build trust and a good relationship with your professional). What makes it worse is that went I went in to do my dental filling, they said, "You know what.... we went ahead and did the paperwork, sent your x-rays and now we wait for approval for deep clean" At this moment I checked in on my insurance to see if it had gotten approved. I waited 2 weeks for it to be approved. During those 2 weeks, I was in significant pain and wanted my dental treatment done. I would send text messages because I was in significant pain for them to not even respond and keep me on read(they have an iPhone and use iMessage) or just not responding until late in the day when their office is about to close. Fast forward to those 2 weeks I called in to check on my authorization. Finally, it got approved and my insurance said if the office wants to confirm without having to wait for the letter in the mail that says it had been approved, they can just call in which takes at most 5 minutes and proceed with the deep clean. Guess what they did? They said, "You know what, we're busy for this right now and we're too busy to make that phone call, you should go to another dentist." Are you kidding?!?!?! Because of this, now I have to wait another potential 3-6 weeks because I need ANOTHER authorization in order to get a deep clean!! I went to another dentist and they literally told me, "Are you serious? Usually when a dentist treats you, they treat you until everything is settled." But no, I was shooed off like I was a nuisance. Part 2: Remember how I said I had a dental filling? Dr. Chona completed these and didn't bother to shave my dental fillings down. Why is this a problem? I had braces 5 years ago so I had a clear retainer. She never told me that I would have to get a new retainer or that my clear retainer would no longer fit. Remember how I said I was in significant pain? Because I was not notified of these things, my retainers because they did not fit was IRRITATING my fillings causing me to have pain every night. Because my retainers no longer fit, MY TEETH SHIFTED and now I have to get my orthodontist to deal with this. It's crazy because when I needed help, they took their delightful time to get back to me. When they sent off my x-rays to the other dentist, they were QUICK to get me out. They would take a full day long to respond to my concerns after dental filling treatment but when they wanted me out of their office, the process to transfer to another dentist was satisfied within 30 minutes of me sending a text message/email to them. In conclusion, I wish I had gone to another office that actually gave a damn. I would pay to be able to change my past and decided to go to ANOTHER dental office. read more

My kids and I loved this dental office. They're the best that I've seen in the area! I'm very picky about dentist offices and where my children go, but this place is just as nice as my own dentist office and I'm very happy that they are in a high quality office! We first learned about We Care Dental on Yelp and I decided to call ask ask if they can see my kids under denti-cal. They didn't answer, and I was gonna just let it go but they called me right back (I didn't even leave a message!) and made sure they took care of my questions! We went early to get them registered and scope out the place because the last place we were at was no good. When we went in, we were absolutely wowed! It's very clean, the parking was not bad at all and was plenty! The place smells really good, the decoration is very pretty, and they have a T.V. that they allow the kids to watch which was so kind of them! They gave us a warm welcome, introduced themselves individually and were very polite with my kids. I love that they see and accommodate whole families because they are a family business! Also, for those families who want to be paperless and are into the high-tech stuff, they have registration on the computer which is very nice and easy for us to do. They took my kids individually to for X-ray and explained everything they were doing to them and showed their X-ray to them! Dr. Chona L also cares about parent concerns and cosmetics as well. She wanted to ensure that she was going to make sure my kid's teeth were looking good on the inside and on the outisde. She is also a parent herself and understands what our worries are as a parent and I really appreciated it. I hope people see this review and try this place out themselves, truly it is a good place to be and I plan to have my kids here until they're adults themselves. Don't go to this place. I agree with the other posts that their staff is super nice but they also charge an exorbitant amount of money for cleaning and X rays. Almost $500? Really? For child's cleaning and X rays? Just as a point of reference, it's typically $200-$250 with the other dentist that we typically see for cleaning and X rays. I have personally know Dr. Lardizabal since I was a kid. So I'm so thrilled to be able to go to her for my dental needs. Now that I have my own family, I know I can trust her to provide the same excellent treatment. For every appointment, all procedures and examinations are explained to be beforehand. She's very sensitive to individual needs, pain tolerance and preference of her patients. (I know this since my whole family goes to see her). From regular cleaning to root canal to wisdom tooth extraction-all done in her clinic. The clinic is very clean and has modern equipment. Lots of parking space, TV and some toys for entertaining waiting patients and TV for patients on the chair. She also has headphones for those with sensitive ears for the drilling sound of her tools. Another perk is flexibility of schedule. Her clinic strives to fit you in their schedule and offers alternative if your choice is unavailable. Appointment cards are provided and text message reminders as well when your appointment is approaching. They also accept variety of dental insurance (I changed insurance in the time that I'm being seen in their clinic) These are the few reasons why I trust her practice and its worth the drive from San Jose to Dublin! read more

My PPO dental insurance ended back in May so I had to switch dentist and decided to go to this office since it accepted my new insurance. The staff and Dr. Chona Lardizabal are very nice. However, there recommendation of treatment is too aggressive. I took my 5 year old son there for a check up, x-rays and a cleaning and they told me that he needed 5 baby root canals with caps and 2 fillings. I was very suspicious considering that my son just saw a dentist 6 months ago. I decided to take my son back to his original dentist and paid out of pocket for a 2nd opinion. My other dentist told me that root canals are only "reserved for large decay beyond repair" and that my son had no signs of needing the baby root canals. Overall, they have a very nice newer office, but I would recommend a 2nd opinion somewhere else if they tell you that you need a lot of work done. read more

We Care Dental is a new dental facility and like other new clinics, they also have all those high tech gadgets (ie. flat screen TVs, comfy chairs, digital x-rays, etc.). But what I really like about this clinic is the quality of care I get from Dr. Chona. Dr Chona is very caring and sensitive to the needs of her patients. I could see that she has my best interest in mind. During one of my checkups, I asked her if I needed a deep cleaning. She examined my teeth and gums and told me it wasn't needed... a regular cleaning would suffice. I appreciate the fact that she is not after my money and that she wouldn't do a dental procedure that is not necessary. I also like the teeth whitening promo they are offering to their patients. I thought they were just gonna give me one of those trays with whitening gels that I have to take home and put on every night. I've tried several of those before and none of them worked for me as I get too tired of waiting for results. I was so happy when I found out that their teeth whitening program was just a one-time procedure in the clinic that only takes an hour. To make the story short, I had my teeth whitened and was very happy with the result. I never saw my teeth that white before. I've always had yellow teeth my entire life. Seeing my teeth several shades lighter in just one session is really impressive. Will definitely recommend this clinic to my friends. read more

04/22/2014 When my 11 year old daughter slid into home plate, and 1/2 her tooth was knocked out by the catcher's helmet, I almost fainted! I thought, "There goes my daughter's beautiful smile!" When I contacted Dr. Chona, they were able to fit me in on the same day to assess the situation. The thing that intrigues me most about Dr. Chona is her ability to explain things in a very calm, and understanding way. She has a soothing way about her. My daughter came in very anxious and worried that it would hurt. Dr. Chona and Isaiah (the wonderful assistant) calmed my daughter down almost immediately, and before I knew it, my daughter was up and out of her chair with a perfect smile! When I mean PERFECT, I mean PERFECT!!!! She was able to fix my daughter's chipped tooth and make her smile again! I knew Dr. Chona was a good pediatric dentist, BUT, what I didn't realize, was how good she is at cosmetic dentistry as well! This Dental office is a far cry from what has been reviewed in previous posts, the current Dentist is not reliable and the staff comes up with multitudes of excuses when they provide incorrect information regarding Insurance. They also have a habit of changing appointment schedules that are planned in advance. Very unprofessional, I would highly recommend looking for another Dentist. Also note, when you go to the office, it has reflective sheets in the windows and you are unable to view the interior of the office? It also appears that they haven't cleaned the glass door and windows for some time which is an indication of their hygiene practices. read more

I took my 2, almost 3 year old daughter for her first appointment today. Everyone was very nice and made her first experience positive. I appreciated the time Dr. Chona took to show her all the instruments. They let her pick a movie she could see during the whole exam and gave her sunglasses to wear so the light did not bother her eyes. At the end she was able to pick a toy from a treasure box. My daughter even gave the Dr. Chona a hug. When we left she said,"see mommy,that's not so scary". I did not have the greatest dental health when I was younger because of my poor choices, so I would have to visit my previous dentist more than often. When I relocated due to my work, I came to Dr. Chona and she would heavily emphasize the things I needed to do on a daily basis.
