The rooms are interesting as they seem to be more of only twin beds and nothing else. I do appreciate that the AC works extremely well that the rooms are kept very cold. There are a lot of rules to follow here, something to keep in mind if you are planning to stay at this hotel. The water pressure and temp of the shower is fantastic. Probably the best bathroom I've had while vacationing varies parts of Italy. They also offer a breakfast buffet at 10 euros per person every morning.

Between the pool, full-scale restaurant (food was cheap and decent too), and modern/updated facilities it definitely didn't feel like the other hostels I've been to. I opted for a four bed mixed dorm and it was all women. I'm not sure if that was the luck of the draw or the kindness of the hostel staff, but either way it made for a pleasant surprise. Wifi is strong and reliable throughout the property. There are plenty of toilets and outlets as well. Definitely suitable for remote working if you need to while you're in Florence. It's also situated close to both the main tourist sites as well as the main train station. I would absolutely stay again.

Camplus Living Bononia is an interesting experiment, some of which works well. It seems to be…read moreconceived as an upscale hostel with private bathrooms and some basic amenities like conference rooms for groups. The reception staff oscillates between warm and curtly professional. When I walked into my room I was overwhelmed by the strong chemical smell from the cleaning agents, and had to open the window/door for a few minutes. This let what little warmth there was from the heating system escape, and it never got replaced afterward. The inside thermometer now reads 22 degrees C (it can not be turned any higher), but I am sure it is not over 60 degrees F, so am wearing a sweater and parka with my overheated laptop on my lap; I have yet to feel any room heat that does not emanate from the towel heating bar in the bathroom. Internet has been down all afternoon, showing little hope of reviving. The single bed is quite mushy, unlike most Italian beds. Shower pressure is robust. Excellent breakfast offered eggs, bacon, espresso machine, juices, yogurt, cereals, cornetti (Italian croissants), other cakes, etc. It is served buffet style in the cafeteria, which also has lunch and dinner menus, which I did not sample. The cafeteria décor (including chairs and drinking cups) is mostly plastic, but plates and utensils are real. It is about a 5-minute walk to the bus, then 15 minutes to Center or Expo Center (Fiera). Buses are somewhat irregular in their timing, especially the 39 to the Fiera. Restaurants in the area look grim, but there's a good café for coffee near the bus stop. While I stayed the other patrons were considerate people in their 20s-50s, but the walls are thin and hall noise comes right in through the doors, so bring earplugs. In all, it's a fairly jovial place whose prices will be modest relative to other hotels at a given time.

When you leave to see the city, you leave your key up front and it gives an added sense of security since you know you won't lose it in the Florence crowds. I really like this hostel!…read more Location: it's right next to the train station and a short walking distance to the piazzas, the Domo, the leather market, and everything. Crowd: somehow there were a lot of Asians that booked this hostel. I was in a room of all Asian girls, I'm Asian myself and maybe they wanted to put us all together? Hostel: the rooms are freaking huge! It's old though but huge! The place is sooo big. They have courtyards and garden areas, big cafeteria that you can order food. The breakfast is the best breakfast ever for any hostel!! I'm not talking about bread, cereal, and a muffin. I'm talking about a selection of breads, sweets, real food (rice Wth seafood, tomato rice, meatballs with sauce, little hot dogs with veggies, eggs, eggs with bacon, a killer drink machine that makes the best cappuccino!) the breakfast was amazing and they did not cheap out. It was buffet style as well. The bathrooms were plentiful with showers. There's a 2am curfew and a 11pm quiet time. So if you wanna party go somewhere else, because the receptionist guy will give you crap. And tell you to shut up. The wifi is everywhere! And it's pretty good. Hey also have computers you could use as well. And they sell food and water for cheap. They don't try to over charge. A big water bottle was less then 1 euro! Other places sell that for 3 euros. Price was really good for hostel, under 30 euros. This was probably the best hostel I stayed at! Totally recommend if you are in Florence!

I was there towards the end of the summer season so there were plenty of people there but mostly students. The actual hostel is simple and unique actually. There is no "front desk" but the concept is simple. Once you book the place you will get an email with a lot of details. They will provide you with the access code for the building, instructions on how to find your key for your locker and your bed, and that's it. The mixed room is on ground floor and the male/female rooms are on the first ("second for U.S.") floor. I recommend getting the single gender rooms because you are less likely to get a top bunk assignment. Unless they over sell then they might book someone else to the top bunk. You are provided with linens, a towel and a locker with a key in case you forget your lock. The beds are comfortable enough and the linens are clean. There are two full bathrooms on the top floor and another one on the ground floor. Every morning you have free breakfast starting from 9:30am. If that's too late for you they can arrange for early breakfast where they'll pack you a snack bag and place them by your bed (very unique). Of course free coffee is available anytime. Some negative things I noticed: They might not use air conditioners so it's might get warm sometimes. The building tends to be dark with some poor lighting so be careful when walking. There are no planned group activities nor bar crawls. And obviously there is no 24h reception. Redeeming quality is it is close to the Piazza Maggiore, local bars and other tourist sites. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone with an open mind and willing to make the best of everything.

As a solo traveler, this place was perfect! First of all, Romina was amazing, amazing hostess with the most-ess! She literally knows everything and anything that's going on in Florence; and she even has her own app!! From the best tiramisu in town to live music, to the "hot new restaurant" - she'll guide your way. So this gorgeous "hostel" was previously an elementary school... gorgeous architecture with marble floors! (I'm sure not too many hostels have that...) But if you can remember your old small gymnasium.. well yeah, that's the main "lobby" part of Tasso, with a bunch of tables and sofas to lounge. And the gym stage is where Tasso hosts the frequent local music acts that play on the weekend! Yeah... how cool is that?!? :) My solo room was quite large, extremely comfortable bed... locker inside to stow my belongings. (Just remember to bring your own combo lock with.) Shared bathroom was totally fine.. i never had to wait; nor do I think I even remember hearing anyone else go in there. ?? Loved this place! It was a total yelp find.. I can't recommend high enough. And I'll absolutely stay here again with future visits to Florence. Being on the other side of the Arno was great... it was certainly "less touristy". I stayed in Florence for a few days, so I even found "my own coffee shop" that i'd frequent because I stayed at Tasso. Tons of charm... amazing service.... totally secure location... comfortable beds... and I met the coolest people from all over the world!
