Upon arriving in Bologna, we exited the train station (miraculously at the correct door) and could see our hotel as soon as we arrived, (Ironically, it took us about 15 minutes to find our way out of the train station, since we were at least five floors, two elevators, and one escalator from the ground floor!). We were happy that we could check into our room early, and the front desk people were efficient. I know that my rating is mid-range, but that's because we found this hotel to be rather sterile and lacking personality. Coming from our hotel in Florence (see separate review of the Palazzo Castri), this was a very different experience. The staff was efficient, but they lacked any personal sincerity. I felt the same way about the hotel itself. It seemed sterile in the same way you would find a higher end hotel in the US. The lobby, as well as the room, had all the right elements, but also was lacking in personality. All of this might have earned this hotel a higher rating except that it was quite expensive and didn't really seem to offer anything unique. My experience at their restaurant (Avorio) was also lackluster (see separate review). I suspect that Bologna has other places to stay that offer more personality at a considerably lower cost.

When I arrived 3:45 it was not there and i had to go back down to get it. Room small but clean. Sink didn't plug. Huge issue for contact lens wearers and wanted to wash a dress by hand but couldn't No makeup mirror. They had a bar which was nice. It had a very reasonably priced happy hour too. They helped get a cab to the airport- in general, there front desk was helpful. Gym had an ab board which was great! Recumbent bike squeaked but it worked. Also had a recumbent bike and a treadmill. Location directly across from the train station. Within walking distance of the center and historic district. They give a great map of the city upon checkin. I would stay here again.

The immediate surroundings aren't the most scenic, but the location worked well for us--it was an easy walk both to the train and to the downtown area where most of the shops and restaurants are located. There's also a Lidl nearby, which was convenient for picking up affordable and healthy breakfast items since breakfast wasn't included (even for Titanium members--they only offer a discount). The room was comfortable and did its job. We appreciated the large bed, the bath tub, and the small gym, which even had a balcony so you could cool off outside after a workout. One downside was the lobby, which was extremely hot and uncomfortable throughout our stay. Check-in wasn't the smoothest either--it seemed like the staff might have been training, as there were three people at the desk chatting around a computer and no one acknowledged us for several minutes. That said, the service improved after that point, and the staff was helpful and friendly for the rest of our stay. If you're looking for a reasonably priced place within walking distance of the city center and train station, this could be a good fit--just don't expect luxury or too many perks.

It's about a 20 minute level walk to and from the train station (though a bus goes up the main road if you'd prefer and you can get a taxi right outside the hotel if you want too. We had a suite which was smaller than I had hoped it would be, but was really nicely appointed with a view of the clock tower directly across from the window and the main square to the right. And it was in fact two rooms so we could close the door between the bedroom and have the living room for late night writing or email when the other one of us was sleeping. For the most part it was a quiet room though there were films showing in the main square every night we were there and the sound could be heard until about midnight in our room which wasn't ideal but that was also about when we were going to sleep so it worked out. Breakfast was great and our favorite hotel breakfast in Italy. They brought a basket of gluten free items for my wife and the subsequent days we were there they remembered us and automatically brought the gluten free basket and remembered our coffee order as well. Felt like very personal service. The staff was really nice too and gave us good restaurant recommendations. We would definitely stay here again.

We sought an experience that would immerse us in the essence of the destination while providing easy access to the local attractions and food that make Bologna so captivating. Our choice of accommodation was a delightful junior suite, nestled in room 119, complete with its own charming balcony. As we had seen in the YouTube videos, each room was unique in its design and character, adding an element of surprise and intrigue. The bathroom was perfectly sized, providing a comfortable and convenient space for our needs. While I personally found the bed slightly firmer than my preference, it still offered a good night's sleep. My wife, although noting that it might be a tad too firm for her liking, considered it a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things. The balcony was a true highlight, adorned with a reclining chair, a pair of cozy chairs, and a lovely table. We were delighted to discover a retractable awning, which, although we figured out how to use it on our last day, served as a wonderful shield against both rain and the playful local birdlife. The thoughtful addition of the awning enhanced our enjoyment of the balcony, providing a comfortable space to relax and soak in the surroundings.Other features, Plenty storage, TV, with various channels, to include some English, and very high ceilings. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we were instantly captivated by its stunning location nestled within a picturesque setting. It surpassed all our expectations, even those set by the enticing YouTube videos we had watched beforehand. The friendly staff members and available pamphlets, greeted us in the lobby and eagerly provided a wealth of information on nearby destinations and must-visit tourist sites. As we ventured through the hotel, we found ourselves immersed in a treasure trove of art, discovering intricate pieces adorning every corner and floor of the hotel. We marveled at the meticulously preserved portions of the property, especially the wooden beams, protected throughout. Each floor and room with its own historical significance, and took our time absorbing the stories they whispered by hopeful name, plates, and historical plaques, describing each item, an article. Our exploration of the hotel was nothing short of enchanting, leaving us with a profound appreciation for the thought and care that went into its design and preservation. The hotels efforts and preserving it's history is remarkable. The hotel's breakfast buffet was truly exceptional! The diverse array of fresh meats, teas, cheeses, and other Italian culinary delights must have made it a memorable dining experience. It's fantastic that the hotel's thoughtful design and attention to detail is impressive. Our enthusiasm and anticipation for our next visit is a testament to the hotel's quality and service. I look forward to a future stay.

Terrific stay and would recommend! Had the opportunity to…read morereside here for 4 nights and enjoyed the experience. The location is a bit further from central Bologna, about a 15-20 minute drive or bus ride from the city center. Nestled in a mostly residential neighborhood in what looks to be a more diverse ethnic part of town--I saw some Asian and African-owned businesses nearby--it's easy to hop onto bus #25 or hail an Uber (~€20-25) to the city center. The bus headed towards town stops right opposite the street from the hotel and comes about once every 10-15 minutes during the day. Walking into the hotel there's a simple reception counter. On the left are some lounge seats, a car frame attached vertically to the wall--YES I said CAR (see pic!)--for unique decor, a small stocked bar and bar seating area. While I didn't try anything there I saw a handful of people order drinks on a couple nights. The staff that I interacted with was very helpful, check-in was very easy, they were able to call a cab, provide basic information about what happens during a transportation strike, and give recommendations on things to do around the city. The room was superb, the bed was two queens (like American queen size beds, not the full size ones they call queen in some European hotels) pushed together to form essentially a California King. I could sleep horizontally and still have plenty of room! And the beds were comfortable too. Room was spotless, the turn down service was meticulous, bathroom was spacious and new, with rainforest shower. Great water pressure and hot water, clean white towels and plenty of them. Mini sink and bidet in the toilet room. There's a smaller flatscreen tv but it's off to the left side of the room above the desk, so if you're sleeping on the far right side that may require some craning of your neck, though I hope most people visiting Bologna aren't there to watch tv, and I personally didn't have an issue with this. The room was split in two one side with bunk beds and the other with the master bed. Mini fridge, instant coffee, safe, desk and chair were available. There was also a small "walk-in" closet right next to the door with a built in shelf for luggage. Only small gripe was there wasn't AC (note below) available on April, and there were a couple pretty warm days where I had to open the bathroom window and balcony door to let the air circulate. Special shout out to their cleaning staff bc I forgot some cash in the room (not the room tip) when I left and they actually contacted me to let me know they found it and would hold it for my friend to pick it up. They leave welcome cookies under a cloche on the desk, which was a nice touch. Also who doesn't like free cookies? Even though it's a bit further from the central attractions I would certainly stay here again! *Be forewarned during months where the average temperature is below a certain threshold, they aren't able to turn on the AC in the hotel. They explained that it's due to local legislation for environmental energy usage concerns.
