The Magicians of Home Repair: How Alexander Contracting Saved Our 30-Year-Old Home…read more I don't even know how to share the stellar, stellar experience I had with Alexander Contracting in a way that will even remotely do them justice. I suppose I'll start at the very beginning. Our residence was severely impacted by the crazy winter weather. Due to the cold and snow, we had an ice dam. Up until this point, we were very fortunate to not need major house repairs. The residence is over thirty years old and for the most part has been well kept. That changed when the ice storms hit. The inside of our home became an Ohio version of Niagara Falls which had me getting rather impressive cardio running back and forth with pots, buckets and towels in vain. It was literally trying to catch a waterfall pouring into our home. The ceiling cracked open, the walls were suddenly cracking, the baseboards in numerous rooms throughout the house. it had the look of Pre-Armageddon. Once the mitigation finished removing the damage and drying everything up, there were holes everywhere, missing baseboard pieces, it basically resembled a crack house. At this point, I began doing homework. People warned me to be very leery with who I let into the home, the trustworthiness of the repair crew, jobs being started and then left in the middle. I've seen enough Rob Wolchek to know this was a problem. Added to that, there are vulnerable people in the residence, so I was admittedly freaked out. One of the first listings for contractors I came across after a Google search was Alexander Contracting. They had nearly all 5 star reviews on Google and Thumbtack so I gave them a call. I spoke with Paul and he said he would come and assess what needed to be done. Within minutes of meeting Paul, I calmed down instantly. Not only did he take the time to patiently answer the 20,000 questions I peppered him with, but he was very honest and explanatory giving me advice on what to do even if we decided not to use his company. As in, he had no skin in the game but was giving us advice as people very new to this process just to help us out even if we didn't use him. In the end, we went with Alexander Contracting and boy oh boy oh boy was that the best decision ever. They began doing work immediately. The two men who did the majority of the work, Sasha and Vasili were INCREDIBLE. They never stopped working. It was like watching Boxer from the book Animal Farm. We begged them to take food, drink and that it was okay to use the bathroom lol. Despite not having the leftover baseboards from the mitigation crew, they somehow like the magicians that they are, Paul found perfect replacements. The fellows fixed all the holes and cracks and got the paint colors down beautifully. Don't even get me started on the ceiling design. Our ceiling has a décor that's over thirty years old. These fellows were able to recreate the ceiling pattern PERFECTLY. Are they construction guys? Are they artists? You be the judge. Some of the wallpaper due to the repairs needed to be replaced. We had nooo idea what to look for and there was no chance in hell wallpaper from over 30 years ago would be found. Alexander Contracting did everything! They found STUNNING wallpaper for us to complement the home and we couldn't be happier. Walking through the home now, you not only wouldn't know there was a ginormous leak, but the work they did beautified our awesome place even more. They are truly the 'invisible' pros. They treated our home with such care, keeping their staging area in the garage tidy and cleaning up after themselves so thoroughly that the only evidence of their presence was the beautiful repairs they left behind. Thank you Sasha and Vasili for the incredible job you did in our home, the perfection and detail you put into the crazy long hours you spent repairing our home barely taking a break. Thank you Fady for being so kind, patient and reassuring to me and my family and last but not least to Paul. The honesty in our communication, talking to me, reaching out beyond working hours to make sure everything was going okay, I can't describe what a pleasure it was working with you. I certainly hope we don't have to deal with another disaster again but I am so thankful this led me to experiencing such a morally strong, honest, ethical contracting company like yours that did a beyond phenomenal job. I'd give this company fifteen stars if I could. If you value honesty and perfectionism, look no further than Paul and his incredible team.

Partially my fault, the salesman wrote down the wrong color on the contract & I did not catch it. They did offer $500.00 discount or replacement but the negotiation with the manager was difficult. A call to the owner was not returned. Soon learned there is a design flaw in cold weather. Water frequently freezes on the gutters and large icicles form all along the gutters. This is a major problem over a heat pump. I have made three calls to the salesman all of which have gone unreturned. Pluses? Attractive design that might be good in warmer climates. Negatives? Major icicle & ice issues in cold and lack of service follow up -numerous phone calls for help ignored. Dun Rite? Ahh... Nope.

I'm glad to have spotted Classic's newer location in what had been part of the old Bierce Hardware…read morestore on Southeast Avenue. Working with owner Ron Call was a real pleasure, and we felt no pressure at all to "buy today." It turned out that his prices were reasonable and it was clear that he cares about quality work. We chose to pay a bit extra to have them move all furniture... Well worth it! We found carpeting for the family room and upper hallway, as well as a bedroom. It all looks great, and the installation of a complex patterned carpet was done expertly. We ran into one snag that was NOT the fault of Classic, but the manner in which Ron and his installer, Sean, handled it showed real integrity. Here's what happened: When Sean began the installation of the LVT for the kitchen flooring, he saw some slight scuffs in the finish (I might not have noticed them for months or years). The other boxes had the same problem. Owner Ron immediately ordered new product, but there were similar flaws. Ron asked the manufacturer to find perfect examples of what we needed, but no luck- it turned out to be a manufacturing flaw. Fortunately, he helped us find something similar from another manufacturer. The flooring was finally installed, and it's really elegant. My point is this- installer Sean and owner Ron wanted nothing less than perfection in the product we were buying. Trust me, they could easily have let it slide, and a lesser business might have done so. However, Classic really had our back and did everything possible to help us get the quality look we wanted. The flooring in the kitchen and all the new carpeting look spectacular. It's easy to leave a great review when everything falls into place perfectly. Sometimes, though, the true hallmark of a good business is how they handle things when something goes awry. Despite an issue that wasn't their fault, Classic Carpet took great care of us, and I highly recommend them.
