So many things to love about our LOCAL station, but if I had to pick the one I love the most it…read morewould definitely be how tied they are to our local community & how well they represent us! A VERY close second would be their Big Room performances. I am fortunate enough to have taken advantage of this golden opportunity to catch performances from my favorite artists in an intimate setting.

Music, of course, often evokes strong opinions so the tunes may or may not match your taste (it's…read morepop/rock), but I love that the station is very active in the community. They host various events throughout the year, everything from the kids club at Polaris Fashion Place during the summer to Girls' Nights Out and more. This year, we enjoyed attending the Easter EGGstravaganza Drive-Thru, which was a fun event that the kid really enjoyed. They had various booths handing out candy and other goodies (the cat ears from Cat Welfare was a big hit!), Mr. Sunny, and pictures with the Easter Bunny - all from the car. The station also offers their Treat Truck, which heads around to different events and different neighborhoods (you can apply for yours on their website) and hands out free treats. We've enjoyed everything from Dairy Queen ice cream or popsicle treats at kids club to this year's partnership with Cheryl's Cookies for Cheryl's birthday. We appreciate all of the fun stuff they've put together for the community!

In a world where we dare not make fun of race, other religions, etc, I feel fat people and old ones are still open targets. I sent a message to the station of why I found it offensive. Many I love have always been overweight and have suffered from teasing and comments their entire lives. It's not funny to them. The response I received back, days later, said it was not funny because the person was overweight, but because of the dancing. That was incorrect, first of all, and secondly, despite the intention, there was no apology if it was offensive. Nice Christian response. But then again, I am a 62 year old woman, who was taught to sai I was sorry for hurting someone despite my intentions. I am done with The River....it flowed with a lack of empathy.

One Star for Kelly: Thick and Kelly had a conversation about Jason Aldean's song "Try that in a…read moresmall town." I am a 60-year-old Black man that enjoys rock music. There is nothing racist about Jason Aldean's song. But apparently Kelly thinks so as she countered Thick's positive take on the song. I listen to the station to hear music not to hear her liberal ideas. What is racist is Kelly's assumption that the song is about Black people, when it is clearly about criminals. The Blitz should be careful because this is the era where "wokeness" destroys brands e.g., Bud Light, Disney, Target, Starbucks, Ben & Jerry's, and CMT. I would suggest that she play music and leave the liberal ideology at home. Aldean's song is a great song about taking care of one's family and community and standing up for what's right. Black people do not need another Caucasian liberal female to save them.

I loved 103.5 when it was a smooth jazz format. I got tired of switching my radio dial and hearing…read morethe same songs over and over again, so it was very refreshing to land upon a station that not only played classical jazz, but also featured a bevy of new artists. The Harmonic Lounge was the highlight of my week. Then I tuned in to 103.5 yesterday, and thought I plugged in the wrong numbers. 1980s-era music was coming through my car radio. I then discovered that 103.5 had changed their name to "Rewind" and switched the format to pop tunes. Well.... Rewind is an appropriate term for rehashing music from two decades ago (Don't get me wrong, there are some songs from the '80s that I love, but I can hear them on many other stations). The station no longer stands out, but sounds like a lot of the other FM stations in Columbus. It lost its unique identity. 103.5 is now wallpaper for the masses and no longer a preset on my Bose.

I love this station not only because of the delicious irony of a station whose call letters are "O.D.B." playing oldies, but because I love oldies- classic rock and pop songs from the 60s and 70s that everyone in the car can, if they are made of the Right Stuff, sing along with, huge goofy grins and all. I mean, come on, this station has multiple blocks of nothing but The Beatles. Yesssssss. Granted the DJs are beyond corny here. Their jokes are so bad that sometimes I feel embarrassed to hear them- and that's not a cute joke on my part, that's the truth. Horrible, horrible humor. Granted I'm not in the target audience, but I can't imagine many people enjoying fumbled pseudo-sexual jokes made by a smooth-voiced oldies dude. Just... shudder. Think Katy Perry, Chris Brown, Jason Mraz, or any of the American Idol kids. Every once in a while, I hear a song I like, but, for the most part, this is not the station for me. The Morning Zoo with Dave and Jimmy is decent to listen to on the way to work. They usually do some pretty funny segments, mainly revolving around pranks on Jimmy. The morning show also features FOUR sidekicks: Kelsey Webb, Chachi, Gandhi, and Patrick. Things can get a little crowded and confusing. I find that the best time to listen is between 7p-Midnight when DJ Maxwell is on. He'll play MIA or Gorillaz.

Growing up in a roller rink for 20 some years of my life, attending a top ten design college and having the "gay ear" -needless to say my music collection/taste is rather diverse yet weird at the same time. I pretty much listen to pop, rock, hair bands...well, you name it I have it. A lot of the songs the Brew plays either reminds me of certain moments of my childhood back in the rink or riding in the car with my mother as a kid whom seldom had the radio on in the car but when she did it was Diana Ross, Mamas and the Papas, Phil Collins, The Supremes, etc. I like the diverse aspect of their station and I will continue to be a listener when the iPod isn't going with some electro music.
