Unabashed and overwhelming ammount of commercials. 70 to 90 % OSU football year around, between commercials.

Music, of course, often evokes strong opinions so the tunes may or may not match your taste (it's…read morepop/rock), but I love that the station is very active in the community. They host various events throughout the year, everything from the kids club at Polaris Fashion Place during the summer to Girls' Nights Out and more. This year, we enjoyed attending the Easter EGGstravaganza Drive-Thru, which was a fun event that the kid really enjoyed. They had various booths handing out candy and other goodies (the cat ears from Cat Welfare was a big hit!), Mr. Sunny, and pictures with the Easter Bunny - all from the car. The station also offers their Treat Truck, which heads around to different events and different neighborhoods (you can apply for yours on their website) and hands out free treats. We've enjoyed everything from Dairy Queen ice cream or popsicle treats at kids club to this year's partnership with Cheryl's Cookies for Cheryl's birthday. We appreciate all of the fun stuff they've put together for the community!

I (actually) like this station. Some of it is a bit much (in terms of music...Aaron Neville and…read moreLinda Ronstadt anyone?) but they are extremely involved in the community and actually have one great website. I secretly listen to Delilah at night, too. She makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. (And no I've never called.) If you haven't seen the new online outlet they are providing to its listeners, go check it out now. Great idea! I am really impressed with the events that they organize, too! I went to one back in April (Girls Night Out) at Whole Foods on Sawmill and it was fantastic! I am really impressed with the lengths this station goes to carve out its own niche in the community and think outside the box.

Actually, this station…read morehas been around for over 3 decades and has transformed over the years into one of Central Ohio's TOP 10 Radio Stations. If you turn your dial to 104.9 FM, you will find the most uplifting music available anywhere on the dial. In our world, especially during these tough times, we need all the help we can get to lift our spirits - don't we? Then why not refresh yourself with the best contemporary Christian hits and worship songs on the radio? You deserve it. One of the greatest advantages of relying on The River for your radio entertainment needs is that it is safe for the whole family to listen to. America's top media outlets continue to barrage us and our children with inappropriate subject matter and fowl language every day. Why not avoid this assault by tuning into WCVO? Your kids will love it - mine do! I've done a lot of business with the professionals behind the scenes here in Gahanna. They are wonderful people who are working very hard to ensure that Columbus maintains this precious commodity to enjoy and cherish. We all need more of God in our lives. Why not let Him in minister to you through your radio? You will not regret it. He loves you way too much to ever let you down :-)

In a world where we dare not make fun of race, other religions, etc, I feel fat people and old ones are still open targets. I sent a message to the station of why I found it offensive. Many I love have always been overweight and have suffered from teasing and comments their entire lives. It's not funny to them. The response I received back, days later, said it was not funny because the person was overweight, but because of the dancing. That was incorrect, first of all, and secondly, despite the intention, there was no apology if it was offensive. Nice Christian response. But then again, I am a 62 year old woman, who was taught to sai I was sorry for hurting someone despite my intentions. I am done with The River....it flowed with a lack of empathy.

No idea how long I've been listening to WCBE. 25 years? They were good then, and better now…read more Before I got satellite radio, they were my favorite, playing music and news during the day and the BBC at night. Now, they are still my favorite. The music is eclectic and amazing. Local people, foreign groups, national favorites. They even occasionally play my quirky faves like the Dead and Southern Culture on the Skids (and of course have the Dead Hour.) I mean, come on: jazz (if you're into that.) Blues. Rock. Country. Salsa. House. Reggae. Celtic. Really, anything you can think of, they will play it eventually, and probably have a specific show devoted to it. Staff have always been cool when I've called in with requests, questions, trying to win tickets (and they're always giving away tickets to great shows.) Also cool when I've met a few in person at their yard sales- you should check those out too, for music, computers, etc. News in the morning and evening. Car Talk and other goofiness on the weekends. Dance shows weekend nights. Interviews during the week (Fresh Air is a national treasure.) Even a cooking show. And, they hooked me on my favorite author with a show they used to have, Radio Reader. Community supported, community driven, community centered. Public radio in general is awesome, and we are lucky to have such a great example. Donate if you can, enjoy listening without commercials even if you can't give.

I love this station not only because of the delicious irony of a station whose call letters are "O.D.B." playing oldies, but because I love oldies- classic rock and pop songs from the 60s and 70s that everyone in the car can, if they are made of the Right Stuff, sing along with, huge goofy grins and all. I mean, come on, this station has multiple blocks of nothing but The Beatles. Yesssssss. Granted the DJs are beyond corny here. Their jokes are so bad that sometimes I feel embarrassed to hear them- and that's not a cute joke on my part, that's the truth. Horrible, horrible humor. Granted I'm not in the target audience, but I can't imagine many people enjoying fumbled pseudo-sexual jokes made by a smooth-voiced oldies dude. Just... shudder. Still, this is one of the three stations I can stand in Columbus and it is fast becoming my second favorite of those three. Definitely worth a listen in my book.
