Sometimes I just need a little Phil Collins in my life. In those moments, I turn to 93.3. Their tagline is 'Songs you can sing along with.' Ain't that the truth? You'll find that you (embarrassingly) know all these songs. They're the trite, cliché ones that you listen to when no one else is around. Perhaps you've downloaded some of them and hidden them in a secret folder on your computer, and you open that folder when it's just you and the dog at home, and you sing the songs in that folder at the top of your lungs until you realize you have neighbors that you must later face in an awkward moment in the parking lot...just perhaps.
You're guaranteed to hear Journey's Don't Stop Believin' once per hour, and all the DJs sound like they're relatives of Delilah.
I'll be staying away from 93.3 until after the holidays. They dug up their Christmas tunes the first week of November and have played nothing else since then. Unless they play some Charlie Brown, I'm vowing to keep my distance; Christmas music makes me queasy.
But when you need to feel good about the world again, or when you have your mom in the car and don't want to offend her with an overtly sexual preteen song that might rear its head on the usually-safe pop stations, tune your dial to 93.3, my number five preset. read more
