I have sent many emails and made calls that were unanswered and no return call. I used this service for many years with no problems but this past year has been a struggle. I have been enjoying WBIG deals for about 10 years. I have used the discounted certificates as they are intended: to try out new businesses and services for the first time. I have had numerous amazing experiences trying new things at discounted prices and became a repeat full-price paying customer at several of the businesses. Only a couple of times it didn't work out, mostly because I waited too long to use the certificate (my fault), or one time a business flat-out refused the certificate for unknown reasons, but I was able to exchange it for a different business. Other reviewers mentioned a few things I would like to clarify. For one, they will occasionally sell a certificate for a business that went out of business. Come on, in this economy businesses are closing left and right. I am SO sure the first thing a person who is devastated about losing their business does is to call all the people they have marketing relationships with to tell them to stop (hint: that was sarcasm). Secondly, you can exchange a certificate if a place closes based on the amount you PAID for it. It's the same thing at any business. If I pay $15 for a $30 sweater and I notice a hole in it the next day, I cannot bring it back for an even exchange if I want a different $30 sweater that is on sale for $20 - get the picture? I think this is a completely reasonable policy. I have seen nothing but honesty through the years. Someone mentioned their math was off with an example of a buffet in Bolingbrook. The reviewer stated they sold two buffets passes ($26.56 value) for $15 and that didn't meet the requirement of 40%+ off. Using my calculator, I see that they actually gave a 43.5% discount, which seems to be a great deal to me. Also, keep in mind that many times you get additional discounts or bonuses with a purchase. In the past, I have gotten free movie posters, coupons for free food items, a bonus certificate of my choice, etc. Sometimes the bonus is for spending a certain amount of money (like orders above $40 or $50), other times it is a promotion based on buying a certain number of items. Plus, they have some unbeatable sales on certain items (I have paid $1 for $10 / $12 items). And, over the years they have had collection drives for various charitable causes. I have donated school supplies for one drive, and I see they are collecting food for the needy right now. BTW, you can buy items on the phone during designated radio hours, some items are available for purchase on the internet, and they also have "Road Shows" where they set up tables at businesses and you can buy certificates on the spot and use them immediately. I prefer the Road Shows because they have a printed list of all of their specials for the day which offer bigger discounts, and I love bargains. And, like I stated before, they often have an additional bonus when you spend a certain amount. At every Road Show I have attended, I have met the minimum requirement to get my bonus, so I walk away feeling like I got an even better deal. I think they offer a great service and I will continue using them in search of my next wave of favorite things. read more

I would maybe also file a complaint with the BBB but that never seemed to do anything when Steve M rips consumers off. As a business owner I have enjoyed what the Radio Shopping does, for 4 years now. They bring our services to folks that maybe we could not have reached, otherwise. It is a great way for local folks to hear about local and long distance products/services available to them. Yes every company has a things to do better and I can not comment on the service of other companies but when a certificate is bought from WBIG for our services, you are OUR customer and that is how you are treated. My first 2 attempts to utilize my purchases have been a rocky road. After 2 calls & 1 email & complaining Monday, Wed & Friday re: a mix up (I went sent the wrong sized suite at a hotel), issue was finally resolved. It shouldn't have been such an ordeal for someone to return my calls, but in the end staff was apologetic, polite & very professional. I purchased a certificate from Clean Air Duct Cleaning out of Frankfort. I called them first to make sure they came out to my town & Josh stated they did. On the day of the appt. 2 1/2 hours later we received a call stating the van had a flat tire, they would be at our home within an hour & throw in a free dryer vent cleaning for us being so understanding. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP!! They wouldn't answer their phone calls or return their voice messages. On Monday, my husband talked to Josh who stated 1) their driver was ARRESTED 2) they looked at their GPS and decided we were too far at 2 1/2 hrs away...we are 1 hour from Frankfort 3) Call the Radio Show for a refund. This company does not have a website, there is nothing available onliine about them (Caller ID comes up Elton Lamacki 708-543-7164) I reported this to the Radio Show. They are "looking into it". I want a refund...at this point I'll take a credit, use it...and maybe then try to do business with the Radio Show in Elgin in the future. It seems like the Radio Show will represent anyone. I will do more research if I purchase certificates again. This unprofessional CLEAN AIR DUCT CLEANING company is still on their website. If WBIG cared about customer service, they would have higher standards regarding who they represent. Come on, I was blown off AND their employee was ARRESTED. Really?!? read more

You'd be hard-pressed to find me do anything without a discount, and WBIG helps me do a lot of things. Search the Shopper's Guide at wbig1280.com and you'll find discounts on almost anything from a furnace to travel to dining, of course. My wife and I have gotten to eat on the cheap alot, have our puppy receive Smart Dogs training, and have received free Cedar Point tickets. If you see something of interest on their Shopper's Guide, call 630-585-1280 during their show hours M-F 7:15 a.m-Noon and 4-6 p.m.; and Saturday 8 a.m.-Noon. They'll set you up with a temporary ID number. After placing your order, call the business hotline at 630-851-5200 to place a credit card on file, if desired. You have a few ways to purchase and pick up your certificates. And I've detailed your options since it took me a while to catch on: 1) Call in, request CCMO (credit card mail order), and they will use your credit card on file and send it via snail mail for $2. They have quite a few promotions are tied to CCMO purchases too. This helps them get the certificates out of the door without any risk of you cancelling your order or letting it expire in your bin -- orders can only be left in your "bin" for one week. 2) Call in, request "pick up." Either leave it in your bin for up to one week before they cancel your order, or pick it up at the actual radio station during normal business hours, M-F 9-5. Leaving it in your "bin" allows you to purchase more coupons and add on to your existing order so you won't have to pay a $2 CCMO fee each time. You can pay cash. 3) Same as #2, but pick up at a "Road Show," where staff members set up shop at a partner business. You can pay cash. Just by regularly listening to the show, you'll quickly learn that the Radio Shopping Show has unique advantages to any other discount channel. I was an early adopter of Groupon, and there are a bevy of other daily coupon options now. But it seems the Big Radio Shopping Show has been around for a while, and I enjoy the daily promotions (ie 25% off everything, Top 10, Web Gems, Marathon Shows) and wide selection of area discounts. The station only runs on AM, but they actually have a station near Elgin (http://www.yelp.com/biz/radio-shopping-show-elgin) for the folks that can't pickup the Aurora signal. Don't fret if you can't hear their AM broadcast, as they offer live streaming online, too! The stations run independent of each other, with its own sales team, staff, and more localized deals. I honestly feel at home when making a purchase with WBIG. The show can be a bit cheesy at times, but the staff who I've spoken with are so friggin' nice! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

Horrible!!! Do not order your certificates by mail!!! If they don't come you are screwed! I have been a long time customer and they offered to send my certificates out, that was 8 weeks ago. I have sent 4 emails and talked to them twice in person and they act like you are a criminal if you come to them with an issue. (Even if its THEIR FAULT)They had my address WRONG in their file and told me to go to the post office and take it up with them! I did and Aurora post office said its a WBIG issue and they should not be sending cash through the mail with no insurance. Additionally, because of the horrible hand writing and the wrong zip code it would have never showed up to my house. I just filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

It is unfortuante that some of these other reviewers were treated so rudely, if their business is marketing and promo-ing stuff for local businesses they need to watch that (and maybe sometimes that means the customer's right, even if they made a mistake). I give 4 stars because I think this is a wonderful opportunity for people to get try these businesses for a discounted deal, and sometimes I feel like the radio station does promo it a bit too much like they're actually selling you the business. I would give it zero stars if I could. Warning. Be very careful when you deal with WBIG. They tell you one thing on the phone and then another in person. 10 businesses closed during the time I shopped with them. I wasted time and gas to drive to them. WBIG will not post when a business closes and tell you they are not allowed to post that the business has closed due to "legal" reasons. They will NOT issue a refund but tell you to buy something else...which I did. Then I was told, "sorry your order was already processed." . . buy something else. A very dishonest way to conduct your business. They have also gotten my order wrong many times. When I have only asked about a business, it mysteriously appears in my order. read more

This station is dishonest and does not stand by the certificates they sell! I got 3 restaurants for 30% off what the original prices were. Turns out, one was closed down, out of business, when they sold me the certificate. I went to get a replacement of equal face value ($25) and they told me this other restaurant cert. was $4 more and i would have to pay the difference. I got pissed off and let them know that i wanted a cert. for one of the original 3 rest. that was open and was the same cost of the business that was close down and should not have to pay anymore than what i got the original cert. for. . .after all, it was their mistake for selling me something that was out of business. The business that was "out of business" was Santo Maria's in West Chicago, 60185 and was closed in December of 2010. Yet, WBIG sold me the certificate on 1/13/11 and had the balls to penalize me with the extra charges for their mistake. DO NOT TRUST THEM! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! read more

Shame on you Steve Marten!!!! I called on Friday during the Lucky 7 at 7:15am. I ordered nine items and was quoted $32.10 by Ryan, who was on-air at the time. I went to the road show at Hollywood Palms the following day to pick up my order. (I live a good 35 minutes away.) When I went to pay for my purchases, I was told by a WBIG employee that my total was $69. I questioned him and explained that I was quoted $32.10 by Ryan. I had even brought in the piece of paper with my items and the total cost quoted. The man (and another WBIG woman) explained that Ryan had made an error on Friday and was taking 70% off the low price instead of 70% off the retail price. Apparently, WBIG realized his error soon later. My gf, who had been on hold with WBIG around 8:30am, heard Ryan on-air joking about "having to pack his bags" because of this mistake on air. The gentleman from the road show told me to call Steve Marten on Monday around 9am and explain what had happened. So I did. Steve was less than apologetic and said he knew nothing of this even taking place on Friday. Really? Aren't you the managing owner? He said they would never have 70% off the already low price and the $69 stands and he will not honor the $32.10 that I was quoted. He was extremely rude and told me I was trying to capitalize on the situation. Are you kidding me? It is the principle!! He also said to me "what would happen if you went to Walmart and something was mispriced. You would have to pay the correct price!" he said. Actually, Steve, most REPUTABLE stores will give you the price that is marked even if it is wrong (withiin reason, of course). I do not blame Ryan at all. People make mistakes, but I am extremely disappointed in how this situation was handled. I would have even understood if someone would have called me on Friday, soon after realizing this mistake. They knew that some people were given an "incorrect" total prior to realizing the mistake. I never got a phone call and didn't find out until I showed up at the road show!!! Do not expect good customer service when dealing with Steve Marten. He is one of the rudest, most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with!! Honestly they do have good deals but you have to be on your toes and don't expect them to take your side when a customer service issue comes up it's "The customer is always wrong" Steve Martin the GM will berate you and make you feel bad for having an issue about one of the certificates instead of showing you a little respect and taking your comments into consideration to improve the business model. He seems really friendly on air so it is rather confusing to see the other side of the personality in private. Unfortunately the people who report to him are given little authority to make good judgement calls and have no problem being rude and short with you. I wish it would have felt more like a win win over the years but with so many places to get a deal these days i.e Groupon or Living Social I have more or less stopped shopping with them and honestly I was one of their best customers for several years.On the posiitve side it is always a pleasure to listen and speak with Ryan in the morning he is so funny! read more
