*** Update (May 15, 2013) In the last week, I have not only been asked by the editor/owner of this magazine to remove my review for fear it would bring bad business, but I have also witnessed an influx of five-star reviews from people who a) have never posted or rarely post on Yelp, b) seem to be connected to the magazine, through a personal relationship with the editor or one of the writers and c) advertise with the magazine. A look at the magazine's Facebook page indicates it has been soliciting reviews to counter my negative opinion. I do hope the majority of Yelpers are smart enough to realize the truth (as I am sure this practice upsets and irritates you as much as it does me). read more

I have worked as the head of marketing for Fox Valley Orthopedics for three and a half years. I have also been in marketing for 15 years. Recently I asked to opt-out of Glancer's email marketing. The owner, Lindy, responded with very unkind and aggressive emails towards me threatening that if I opt-ed out of the emails she would remove all my doctors from her publications and any future editorials/features. I still asked kindly to remove me from her email marketing list. Lindy still continued to harass me via email and say very mean and demeaning things about me (someone she doesn't know and has never worked with). I have never had this experience with a vendor and it says a lot about her lack of professionalism with her vendors and the Glancer Magazine. I wish she would have simply removed me from her email list and understood that I did not want to have emails sent to me. I would not recommend this publication to my marketing friends in the future. read more

This is a fantastic and resourceful magazine. Of course, I may be biased because I was featured in the December 2012 edition :) It does a great job of featuring local businesses and helps bring light to issues that matter to women. I live in Batavia and have lots of friends living in the surrounding suburbs and they ALL read it. I know because I didn't really tell anyone about my feature and they all contacted me to tell me how great it was! Glancer Magazine is a great source to learn about the who's who and what's what around the communities it serves. With outreach in 9 different communities, it is a great choice for local advertising. What I love most about Glancer is its participation in non-for-profit fundraising. Glancer has hosted so many fundraising events ranging from a benefit to help a family that lost everything in a fire to supporting great organizations such as GiGi's Playhouse which assists families with a fun place for children with Down Syndrome. This magazine knows what it means to give back!!! As President Elect of the Naperville Junior Woman's Club, I am proud to have such a wonderful publication to partner with. read more

One of my favorite things about the Glancer Magazine is the way it highlights and supports local businesses, while keeping residents informed of the important (& also FUN!) things that are happening around town. As the former owner of the downtown Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, I had the opportunity to work with Lindy and her staff on many occasions, from marketing campaigns to social events that raised funds for many worthy causes. Mostly glossy and slick advertising with banal articles. Forget it.

Glancer is a terrific publication! It is insightful, current and SO relevant to each specific community. I don't know how they do it- but they do a great job highlighting happenings and people in each town. I look forward to seeing it each month and all of their new sections and recommendations.
