FINALLY -- some real competition to Aurora's "other" local newspaper. :-) The Voice is run by two veteran newspapermen -- and they are very dedicated and passionate about what they do -- bringing you the news and events happening in and around Aurora. Published once a week on Thursday's - look for free copies at various local restaurants (River's Edge Cafe, Jake's Bagels, etc) - and once you check them out become a SUBSCRIBER and get a copy in your mailbox for a very minimal fee. read more

This thing ain't half bad! At first I threw them all away - they arrived monthly, unsolicited…read more Then I was skeptical but started reading it anyhow. The articles are pretty interesting, and everything's written by Naperville citizens, businesspeople and law enforcement. There are some cutesy recurring themes, like photos of kids at a certain seasons, a slight irritant to my blase Chicagoness, but it fits in and I can see why they include it. I admit it, I ALWAYS turn to the back of the magazine to check whether my address is listed; whether I won a Rocky Mountain Chocolates gift certificate. There are often good teen advice columns, profiles of businesses, new or established. I can honestly say I learn something new every time I read it. It's especially good for planning kids' activities, around holidays or any time.

*** Update (May 15, 2013) In the last week, I have not only…read morebeen asked by the editor/owner of this magazine to remove my review for fear it would bring bad business, but I have also witnessed an influx of five-star reviews from people who a) have never posted or rarely post on Yelp, b) seem to be connected to the magazine, through a personal relationship with the editor or one of the writers and c) advertise with the magazine. A look at the magazine's Facebook page indicates it has been soliciting reviews to counter my negative opinion. I do hope the majority of Yelpers are smart enough to realize the truth (as I am sure this practice upsets and irritates you as much as it does me).

I have worked as the head of marketing for Fox Valley Orthopedics for three and a half years. I…read morehave also been in marketing for 15 years. Recently I asked to opt-out of Glancer's email marketing. The owner, Lindy, responded with very unkind and aggressive emails towards me threatening that if I opt-ed out of the emails she would remove all my doctors from her publications and any future editorials/features. I still asked kindly to remove me from her email marketing list. Lindy still continued to harass me via email and say very mean and demeaning things about me (someone she doesn't know and has never worked with). I have never had this experience with a vendor and it says a lot about her lack of professionalism with her vendors and the Glancer Magazine. I wish she would have simply removed me from her email list and understood that I did not want to have emails sent to me. I would not recommend this publication to my marketing friends in the future.

So I am creative or at least I thought I was. I first became connected to Catherine when my R1…read moreResearch institution hired her to do our marketing, media and innovative communication curation. Catherine is extremely talented and always thinks about the hidden needs. I have had just jolly plain conversations with her on to have her say "hey have you thought about this/ that... did you consider". She thinks about every step and her creativity is really understated. She made my job and work seamless. Because I worked with her and contracted our innovative work out I was able to focus on our clients and building the brand for the community work that we do. While it is clear she is very thoughtful and without a doubt someone that I keep working with she is also just really kind and considerate. There are others on her team and they are just as much a great pleasure to work with. I would not work or trust anyone else or another organization with the building of my brand. She is professional while still able to know each partner well. Her strategic mode of operation of Kiwi Avenue is very much a tight ship but it is also clear that you she takes her time and works with each client individually. Save your time and money and utilize her services, the work that she and her organization produces is clear, timely and beyond your own imagination.
