In about a dozen visits, I've had a very consistently good experience, on both the food and service fronts. The breakfast specials cover the basics - eggs, pancakes, French toast, etc. Familiar food at good prices. If you're after eggs Benedict and mimosas, you're in the wrong county. Save room for a cinnamon roll. These things are about 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches high, not counting the optional (but essential) pile of pecans on top. These aren't the overly gooey messes you get at a lot of places - there's structural integrity AND good taste. Getting one of these to bring back to the wife is an essential part of my marriage maintenance program. Over the coffee station, look for the vulture sculpture fashioned from a coal shovel. It serves as a constant reminder to tip generously and put the mask back on before I get up from the table. It would be nice if they'd extend the breakfast hours past 11:00.

The lead bartender harassed me and others for a pre-service gratuity throughout the evening--even interrupting me moments before I walked down the aisle. They argued with our planner, complained to guests, and shut down the bar nearly an hour early. I've worked in event management for over two decades and have never experienced such blatant disrespect from a vendor. Despite the efforts of a kind catering staff, I cannot in good conscience recommend either of these vendors.

We have had exceptional White Mochas, and Cappuccinos at Higher grounds, until recently. Something about the flavor of our drink was off, and reminded me of the flavor of (great value brand half and half), which is disgustingly gross, and cannot stand that stuff, as it makes me want to toss my cookies. The next time I ordered, I paid attention to the process, and sure enough, and to my unbelief, out came (great value brand half and half). I informed the barista, that I am not able to drink that, and I had to switch to something else, because I can't stomach that nasty half an half. I hope they discontinue this practice or I'll have to find another coffee place. To continue producing a quality product, you must use quality ingredients. To cut corners and use substandard ingredients, may save the owner a few bucks, but will cost them more in the long run, by losing customers.

The vibe is one of my favorite things about this place. It's quiet, quaint, and just feels good to be in. If you ever need a spot to get out of the house and work for a bit, this is a great option. I've also seen small groups and Bible studies meeting here, which just adds to that community feel. It's a local gem here in Justin, and I absolutely love supporting businesses like this.
