Confession: I really love Bingo…read more Now, maybe that makes you think I'm a bit of an old lady but you just don't understand! It's a serious rush! Hearing those numbers called, putting your dauber to the paper, feeling the adrenaline course through your veins as you find yourself 5 away from filling your card. 4....3...2... "BINGO" someone yells from the other side of the room. "WHAT THE F@*#?" You whisper scream while staring angrily at your card then angrily at the elderly woman holding up her hand in excitement. It can get intense. And more likely than not, you're going to lose. But it can be profitable. Seriously, I had 2 friends each win a grand. So that's what keeps me coming back for more. Even if I've only ever gotten one Bingo for $25. It's the promise of a cool 1K that gets me all excited. Paradise Bingo takes care of me when I'm here. It's a clean facility with super nice cashiers who take the time to explain to newbies what you need and when each card you buy is going to be called. I had two buddies who were new to the game join us last night and when they asked me what they needed to buy I just said "have them tell you," because the gals behind the counter can do a much better job that I ever will. The concession stand has some snacks and pop should you need a refreshment. The sessions go well into the night which means you're going to need fuel so go ahead and buy that bag of M&Ms, that package of Reeses Cups. You deserve it. They also sell daubers at the counter if you're not lucky enough to have a friend with a bingo bag full of roughly 10 of them to share like I am. The staff will walk around selling additional cards should you decide last minute that you wish to try your luck just a little more. They take both American and Canadian monies here and if you buy with American you win American back. Sameies with the Canadian. They also have electronic machines so you can play that way. I've never tried it because I like the traditional style but if you're tech savvy and curious you can get your touch screen on. I didn't win anything last night. Nor did anyone in my party. But that won't stop me. No. I shall not be deterred. I will get you some day, Roving L. I will make you happen sometime, full card. Yes. It will happen.

Head to their website to find out each days' hours and costs. The folks working at the hall are always super friendly and helpful, especially to newbies so don't be shy or worried about going if it's your first time. The building is fairly dated so it's not a state of the art facility but it serves its purpose. Find a table and then get in line to purchase your game plays. They also have a concession stand that sells snacks as well as bingo accoutrements such as ink daubers and tape. We enjoy playing bingo and if you do too, head over and try to win - prizes run from $50 on up and there is a progressive jackpot if you win within the amount of balls that are called. Good luck!

The people chasing after the $1,000 are not all catholic (possibly the opposite of). If someone strolls up and says you're in their "special spot" a spot that only they occupy and they do so every week...just move. Life's too short for this kind of altercation to end yours. Turn and back away, slowly. No sudden movements. No loud noises. As for this establishment, it's very well kept. Especially, when you consider how old the place is. They keep it clean and comfortable. It's well heated and they even have a cute little concession stand in case you missed dinner. PRO TIP: Go online to social media like Facebook to check out the different games. Some nights are extremely expensive. The staff is helpful and want you to have a good time and return often. If you are struggling, they are there. The hall is on the east side of Gratiot north of 21 mile. 1/20

Many local businesses commissioned a IG or selfie worthy scarecrows. Some are humbly done and others are more ornate, much like the ice festivals. It's a nice block to check out and take a stroll too. Be sure to grab a lovely gourmet hot chocolate and take a turn in the park.

There's always much family, fun & food at the Fall Festival. There are some fun craft and artist booths to browse through too. Each year we say "goodbye" to some favorites and we welcome some new artists as well. On Sunday we returned for the amazing annual Rotary club chicken Dinner! We got chicken, corn on cob & potato chips & a cookie. The chicken is always awesome & tasty! We love this annual event, along with the great people watching! The bands this year were exceptional and people were even dancing with their dogs! I should have gotten a video because it was so much fun to see this one guy dancing on the lawn with his Great Dane! We saw that man who dresses up like Abraham Lincoln too! The weather was great and a great time was had by all! Thank you to the city of Plymouth for having these great functions & getting families to make memories together. See you next year!!
