UPDATE:Been going here every month for 4 months for a bikini waxing. I now see Jamie every time. She has tons of availability, does an amazing job, and it's as pain free as it can be. She's a perfectionist, so it always looks amazing when she's done. After every visit she always makes sure it's exactly how I want it. Let me start off by saying, I have gotten my eyebrows waxed religiously every two-three weeks since I was eighteen. I wholeheartedly trust my eyebrow lady. But with my face...that's another story! I decided to take the plunge and visit Wax Bare after reading their rave reviews on Yelp. Made an appointment online, got a confirmation e-mail within 10 minutes for a same day appointment with Jamie. I walked in and was greeted (super nice girl), given a form to fill out, and Jamie was ready for me before I even finished my form. We went into the room, I explained to her that I am a total waxing newbie, and she proceeded to explain things to me and explained what I signed up for exactly. I opted for the full face ($50) and neck ($10). Full face includes: cheeks, sideburns, eyebrows, nostrils, face, chin, forehead, and nose. Jamie looked over my form, asked me questions about my skin routine, and just made me feel at ease, you know? She genuinely made an effort to get to know my face and hair patterns instead of just treating me like a generic appointment which I definitely appreciated and that in turn really took some of my nervousness away. She joked with me throughout the wax and gave me an opportunity to check out her work before she moved on. I am by no means an expert in waxing, so I entrusted my face to her and I am not disappointed at all with her work. As a first time customer they give you 50% off the most expensive treatment, so my grand total for this visit was $35. That's a deal! The location itself was very easy to find, loads of parking (thank you for that!), very clean, and small refreshments are offered to their customers. The music playing over their sound system definitely helped mellow out the vibe and made me appreciate all the effort they put in to make their customers feel at ease. Although they get great reviews for their services, scheduling and customer service are subpar. Admittedly, I was 5 minutes late, and rather than calling me I get an automated message that my appointment was booked as a "no show." I called them as I was driving and asked if I could still be seen since I had booked 2 services and they "Unfortunately" had to reschedule. Unfortunately, I'm not going back. Yes, I realize places like this get busy, but if you are going to be impersonal and not attempt to be accommodating, I will not patronize your business. Customer service is key. read more

Wax Bare is located in a little shopping plaza. Parking can be a little full at times, but for the couple times I have been here, I've always been able to find a spot. I booked over the phone with ease, although you can apparently book online too. Be sure to come in early for your first appointment as there is some paperwork to fill out. Their salon is super cute and modern, with white decor. The waxing rooms themselves are very clean as well. The receptionists are extremely friendly and helpful! I came in pretty early for my appointment; they were very accommodating and offered me a drink from their fridge. Wax Bare also has a little play area if you have children that you need to bring along to your appointment. I had an appointment with Melissa and she was AMAZING (and I don't doubt the other estheticians are just as amazing!) She made me feel completely comfortable and not nervous at all, by talking and "coaching" me through the wax. While waxing can never be completely painless, she made it as painless as it could be. Long POST: But obviously its worth it :) 5+ STARS from a very happy client writing this review for the owner Vanessa Li at Wax Bare in Elk Grove. First, let's just say that I am a little OCD when it comes to researching before committing. Especially anything that would be semi permanent on my face, body etc. I have been diligently reviewing other salons, reading articles from Google and stalking IG for a quality eyebrow micro blading technician that would deliver results I would be happy with. Personally, I just wanted the result to be as natural as possible so I can wake up and go out the door with no worries. And if I'm going out for a GNO, date with my hubby, I can always choose to add powder to enhance them or just leave them as they are, without worrying about the shape or look. As a busy mom of a Tribe of 6, that was the BIGGEST BONUS--it's a time saver. I basically wanted my eyebrows to look as natural as possible. That's when I found Vanessa at Wax Bare. You can schedule a consultation with her before committing to the actual appointment (actually I think she requires it, just to make sure you are happy). The consultation can be very quick (20-30mins). But during mine, we took time to chat and that was the biggest factor for me--- her quality customer service, professionalism and knowledge. She was accommodating and took her time to measure my shape, asking me questions about the look I want, and working to then perfect it. She informed me of what to expect from beginning to the end of the process, which I thought was SO relieving! She explained the after care that would be needed at home, and the touch up appointment process to perfect my brows. I walked away feeling extremely confident, and excited to actually commit and book an appointment. My appointment was overall so smooth and comfortable. She is warm and we were chatting about our families and cracking up about our experiences, lol. She started measuring the shape, began shading and we agreed to my look before she actually got started. Now, a micro blading eyebrow appointment just sounds painful, but HONESTLY, if you get your eyebrows threaded or waxed, it was just like that pretty painless. For a better explanation, look it up on YouTube or IG and you will get a good idea of what to expect. Vanessa did such a wonderful job, I was SO happy with the results when we were done. Following her after care packet is really important, just know that during the healing process the brows will peel but that is a good thing. I waited a couple weeks to write this so I could calm down and now that I'm calm...I'm still annoyed -_- The good: I came here for a Brazilian wax and was helped by Sara at the receptionist desk and Heather did my Brazilian. At first I thought it was cool that they have the hard wax that rips right off vs the wet wax with cloth that I'm used to, and both Sara and Heather were very nice. HOWEVER my problem is not with the 2 of them but with how I was treated once I became unhappy with the service. The bad: 2 days after my wax I got a very bad reaction. It could have been multiple ingrown hairs but it looked just awful and it itched up until a few days ago. I had soooo many painful red bumps it looked like I had a disease down there (I know, TMI, but it's the truth). If I could post a picture without getting kicked off of yelp I would. Anyways, I called on Monday to see if they could look at it and decide if it was an ingrown hair problem or a terrible reaction because honestly I would like to spare other people the discomfort and pain, and I believe I talked to Ruby who was totally NOT helpful and wanted me to talk to a waxer who she stated would call me back after her client (this was at 11am). No call back until later that afternoon around 3pm by someone named Virginia. Anyways she told me I would have to come in to see my original waxer Heather but "Oh she's all booked today and tomorrow........." And that was it. No other options to get my area seen, no other offer to make it right. It pissed me off how unwilling they were to help me once I told them I was unhappy. So I said f*% this and just cancel the appt I made 4 weeks from now. I'm never coming back here. The only reason they get 2 is because of how nice Heather and Sara were but I wonder how nice they would have really been if I hadn't bought the products they forced on me. read more

I needed to get my brows waxed one day and didn't want to go to go to my usual place because they don't do a great job. I saw the wax bare was pretty popular on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. I wasn't disappointed, they did a great job on my brows and it was half off since it was my first time! The next two times I went they still did a great job. Because of my work schedule I was unable to come in for almost a month but it wasn't too big of a deal because my brows don't grow that fast & keep them up as much as I can. When I finally had time I scheduled a maintenance wax ($15) This included waxing, trimming, tweezing, and filling the brows. I came with my brows already filled in, the lady was really sweet and did a quick wax and tweezed the leftover hairs. It took no longer then 6-8 min. I went to pay and the total came out to $20. It was more then I expected but assumed I got the prices mixed up. When I got home I looked at the pamphlet that I took home the first time I went and realized that they decide which kind of waxing you'll need (in between $8, maintenance $15, or celebrity wax $20) depending on how long it's been since you had your last waxing. Because it had been a while since the last time I was there the lady charged me for a celebrity wax when all I had scheduled/ needed was maintenance wax and didn't even tell me. This procedure is supposed to include consultation, waxing, trimming, tweezing, and filling of the eyebrows. I didn't even get half of that done but had to pay that price because of how long it had been since I last came in & they assume your brows have grown a lot by that time. But like I said my brows don't grow fast & I keep them plucked as much as possible. I don't think it's right to not only charge you more and not tell you but to assume how much your brows have grown in and what type of waxing you'll need by the length of time it's been since you last came in. I won't be coming here again, which sucks because I thought I had found my permanent brow place. read more
