Wow, Just wow! This was my first visit to a Wally's or any other mega gas station. I was a bit…read moreflabbergasted, for sure. There are 84 pumps for gas and diesel. The pumps are covered with spacious aisles. Big trucks and cars use the same pumps. I was uncomfortable maneuvering between the dump trucks that were filling their tanks. The gas prices were about 10 cents higher than the average prices in Indianapolis, but the station is seconds off Interstate US65. A bank of EV charging stations is under construction and will be on-line shortly. In general, there is still a lot of construction in progress around the facility. Inside, the store is huge and spacious. Merchandise is smothered with the Wally logo. Stations were set up with hot sandwiches, pastries, popcorn, jerky, chicken, coffee, slushies and more. Friendly clerks greeted us and volunteered to assist. I grabbed a bag of fresh chips and a Bbq Brisket Sandwich. The chips are incredible, crispy, fresh, sinful and no too salty. The Bbq Brisket was filled with chopped brisket. The sandwich was just ok, but I liked the spicy bbq sauce. Prices are reasonable. Utensils and condiments are provided. There is no place to sit and eat, we took our food home. My husband loved his Cinnamon Roll smothered in caramel and nuts. The $4 beast was huge and fresh. He gave it a solid 5 stars commenting on the strong cinnamon flavor. The store is filled with kitchenware, gifts, toys, Wally themed tees and personal care products. I saw everything that a traveling family might need and more. The toy section rivaled any local toy store. In fact, a group of kids were waiting in line for NeeDoh toys that were about to be shelved. The candy aisle is filled with old fashioned candies with Wally labels. I spent 15 minutes reading funny greeting cards. The beer case was filled with name brand beers, but I did not see local craft beers. When I travel, I like to pick up local craft beers as gifts. The wine selection included inexpensive options. The restrooms were huge and pristine, probably the nicest that I've seen traveling. So, if you're traveling and want lunch, gas and bathroom break, Wally's is a perfect option. You're probably not going to make it a quick stop because there is so much to see.

They've got the wall of jerky. They've got the restrooms set up in the same area of the store. (Wally's also claims to have the cleanest restrooms.) They've got the people at the entrances greeting you with a semi-enthusiastic "Welcome to Wally's!" They've got the brisket sandwiches. I could list a lot more similarities, but you get the gist. If you've been to Buc-ee's, it will be hard to not compare the two convenience stores. But if you haven't been to Buc-ee's? Then baby, you're in for a treat! Wally's is really cool, actually. I tried to stay neutral during my Wally's visit, and absorb it as though I had never stepped into a Buc-ee's. Because Wally's deserves a shot to shine on its own accord. This place has an amazing array of food. The middle of the store is basically a food court, with grab-and-go hot-food options like pizza slices, burritos, soft tacos, brisket sandwiches, cheeseburgers, chicken tenders and lots more. Then there are the refrigerated items, like tuna sandwiches, salads, wraps, and even a thing called an egg BLT, which is basically a hard-boiled egg cut in half with bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiched between it. I think I'm going to have to make these at home! Thanks for the inspo, Wally's. I've been told that the things to get here are the chopped brisket sandwich and the house-made kettle chips. I eschewed that advice and went with my heart instead, and got the El Fuego Burrito, which has shredded beef, white cheese sauce, black beans, corn and green chiles in it. It was alright! Maybe I eat too slowly, but by the time I was halfway done, the burrito was lukewarm. Also, the burrito was not as "fuego" as I thought it would be -- it's very mild, with almost no spiciness to it. So, not bad, but I think I might get something else next time. My kids got pizza slices: one pepperoni and one cheese. The kid who got the cheese pizza said that it didn't come with sauce! Just cheese and crust. I don't know if that was a mistake or if that's the way the cheese pizza is. We also got the smash burger (it was more like a regular burger) and the cheese tots, which were fried discs of cheese, basically. The food was fine, if you're evaluating it in terms of restaurant quality. But it was above average for a gas station. We visited and got a bunch of food with the intention of eating it there, but keep in mind: Wally's has no tables anywhere, indoors or outdoors! They want you to get your crap and GTFO, so there are no tables or chairs to be seen anywhere on the premises. Also, this is not a semi-truck-friendly place. No semis allowed! Just regular vehicles. But they have dozens and dozens of gas pumps, in case you need to fuel your regular vehicle.

This place is more like a small grocery than a convenient store because they have fresh produce plus deli meats and cheeses. Their produce includes iceberg lettuce, onions, green bell peppers, potatoes, and baby carrots. Fresh eggs and milk are available too. Their deli meats hams, bologna, turkey breast , pickle & pepper loaf, chicken breast, salami, pepperoni, plus cheeses, pasta salad, coleslaw, chicken salad, pineapple walnut salad, feta salad, and potato salad. They even have my cat's favorite Friskies pate cat food. How many convenience stores stock five kinds of cat litter? And charcoal for grilling out? A lot of helpful employees were working here the Tuesday afternoon I visited. I didn't know anybody still made pickle & pepper loaf lunch meat. You sure can't find it in the chain grocery stores and it's a favorite of mine so I'll be back for that.

It's pretty well known that Wawa only recently entered the Indiana market. What started as a New Jersey iron foundry in 1803, became a dairy processing plant in 1902, and then opened as a food market in 1964, is now a 750-strong chain of convenience stores with a strong presence in six states and a growing presence in others (including Indiana). Why is Wawa beloved? friendly employees. One-stop shopping for gas, coffee, and food. While this was really within the first 24 hours of being open, it was noticeably clean and I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was. Wawa offers fuel and EV charging. Wawa has a stunning amount of coffee options and I definitely tried their refreshers/rechargers. Dragon Burst is an absolute winner. Wawa has breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and the menu is surprisingly comprehensive. You can get a biscuit sandwich starting at $2.49 - lower than a ton of fast food joints (I'm looking at you, Hardee's). While gas stations/convenience stores are often known for their unhealthy foods, Wawa has quite a few healthy options. There's also a lot of baked goods - donuts, brownies, muffins, and even soft pretzels. I tried the donuts. Yum. I was pleased with accessibility features. I also noticed an accessibility statement on their website that I found pleasing. This was a first visit and it was unexpected. So, no photos. I was rushing to a conference and primarily looking for a snack and directions. I received both from friendly employees in a warm, winning, clean, and welcoming atmosphere. I don't go to Plainfield a ton, however, there's no doubt I'd stop back here when I'm in the area. The one section that seems abundant is the wine and liquor section. I saw some nice bottles of red wine. When I walked by the shelf-stable alternative milk, I was a little shocked to see so many varieties. Walnut milk, cashew milk, pistachio milk, sunflower milk, oat milk and even banana milk! That's not even all of them, either. This is the place to get your milks. It's nice to have a Market District in Westfield so close to Grand Park. This area felt like something was missing, and it was definitely a grocery store.
