Solid location. It can get busy and crowded. Parking can get tricky. Overall, I like the location. I fill up my tires here but it can be hard to access the pump due to the popularity of the location. The air is free and I've found that there's often one non-working pump (there are two). Food is fine. Hoagies are good but not award winning. Staff are great! The best thing: Cuban roast coffee! It's absolutely outstanding! Definitely worth coming here on an as needed basis. Use the app to get free food. Gas prices tend to be 10 cents higher than the competition. Amazing. I live nearly in-between the this Wawa and the one in Lawrenceville. But the one in Lawrenceville tried to be cute multiple times by not heating up the meat inside my panini. No problem. The one in Ewing does, so that's who I give my Wawa business to. I'll agree that it's not in as nice a section as the one in Lawrenceville, but I certainly feel safe at this location. I love Wawa mainly for their iced coffee, but this time I tried something different. There are no Wawas in the state I live in, so it's always exciting to see them when I travel. Since I didn't have a car, I had to order Uber eats, and it seemed pointless to have to pay delivery and tip on just a $2 coffee, so I decided to try a breakfast panini and it was so good!!! I got the mint mocha coffee as well as a bacon, egg and cheese panini, which I added onion and spinach to. Everything was so fresh and cooked perfectly! The panini bread itself was soft, yet crunchy, as was the bacon. The egg wasn't a frozen egg you'd get from many fast food places. These new fangled Wawa stores are a great improvement over the last generation small box iteration with too small parking areas, and limited prepared food options. The 21st Century variation are at least 2,500 square feet, with gas pumps outside and elaborate food kitchen and computer aided ordering system able to please even the most picky pallette. The coffee hasn't changed much, but then again, it was darn good back in the day, and remains so. But, despite the impressive modernization, these roadside way stations are far from perfect, and actually create some problems that didn't exist before. This facility on Parkway Avenue in Ewing, NJ, offers obvious examples of this evolution. Access is only through a side street and a too narrow long driveway off to the side in front. At a significant intersection, it makes for challenging traffic entering from Parkway or exiting from the rear of the property. Too, there isn't enough parking around the building to accommodate all the folks going inside for food and drink. Two things therefore happen; first, people are encouraged to leave their vehicles at the gas pumps while they shop within, and second, others park illegally wherever they can, hoping not to cause a park rage incident. I've seen one such confrontation, and it wasn't pretty. This friction point is exacerbated within by understaffed kitchen help causing back up in food prep and lots of people milling about with receipts waiting for their numbers to be called. It's a beautiful industrial kitchen, but whenever I am there, several food stations are without preparers, while one or two areas over backed up to the max. So, people wait, while many cars are interfering with traffic flow outside, and people can't get gasoline because abandoned looking vehicles clog the gas islands. Bottom line, the store is too big for the lot it occupies, leaving too few parking spots. Greedy developers clearly oversold their prowess as designers of business flow, and the undermanned planning commissions approved the plan without adequate analysis. The internals should work, but if management fails to adapt to reality, there will never be enough workers on site to handle the crush inhouse caused by poor planning on the outside and shift manpower shortages. This is how old problems reemerge in the new world. Poor planning and management is timeless, and in some cases, inevitable. PS. The chicken salad on wheat torpedo was quite good. read more

I'm a huge fan of Wawa but if you want to peeve me out put a "Wawa this exit" sign on 295 and then take me on a five mile jaunt through sleepy exurbia to claim my prize at one of their more mediocre locations. You know the place - four cars sit empty at the pump while their oblivious owners order ten specialty sandwiches inside and show up 30 minutes later like bloated pelicans returning from the hunt. As average as average could be. It's a Wawa ... in NJ. If you're from NJ you kinda already know what you're getting, but I'll go into some detail of my experience. I stopped for breakfast on a random Wednesday at 6:40 in the morning. Apparently this is a popular time. This store has a pretty small parking lot but no issue finding an open spot in a somewhat crowded lot. The inside of the store was somewhat of a mob scene - a mix of people walking around mindlessly, a line at the coffee bar, and people standing around waiting for food / fancy drinks. I walk up and order a sausage breakfast burrito, grab a Red Bull, and walk to ... a line I hadn't noticed at the register. Only one cashier working, but then I spot the self checkout with no one on line. Awesome - I leave the line and use self check out and go back to pick up my food...... Well so here's the biggest issue with this store or at least experience - only one guy working the food area and one girl dedicated to the drink station ... and around a dozen people standing around .... waiting. Why wouldn't you hire a second dedicated food person for the morning rush? Maybe I just came in too early in the morning, so I digress. While waiting I noticed one or two people try and ask the food guy questions. It was obvious he didn't want to be bothered and wasn't exactly friendly - but he seemed pretty focused on his job of making the food and I can't really blame him based on the number of people waiting. About ten minutes into waiting the drink girl finishes her one (maybe two) dedicated drink orders and proceeds to help the guy make food. At some point the cashier yells that there's a self check out line for card payers in a not so friendly tone. Finally my order number is called and dropped at the counter. I walk up to pick it up with a quick "thank you" but no acknowledgement that I even exist back ... oh well All in all I leave w my burrito around 15 minutes after starting to wait or 20 minutes or so after initially placing my food order ... The best gas station in the local area and unfortunately EVERYONE knows it. I've never not seen this place packed. Love stopping here before work to pick up some stuff to munch on during my day. Also love the free air for my tires, but there inevitably will be a line so that is normally a weekend activity. When I first saw the signs go up that a Wawa was coming to Ewing, I was pretty happy about it, though I was initially skeptical since the area was totally overgrown. But, they made it happen, and here it is! The gas prices at Wawa are among the best, and have really helped with lowering gas prices around the area in general because of the competition. Even if other places have slightly lower prices, though, I tend to opt for Wawa because the staff is very friendly, and they have a nice store there where I can go to the restroom, get some cash from an ATM, or pick up some coffee if I want it. Another great thing that they have at this location is the free air stations - two of them! Quick Chek in Lawrenceville has a similar machine on the premises, which is nice, but there's only one of them there, and it's out of order on a fairly regular basis. Even when it's working, there can be a wait to get air since there's only the one pump. Having two pumps at Wawa is great for that reason. Also, they have dedicated parking spots for the pumps rather than just having it on the side. Great design thinking there. Altogether, I'm very pleased with this Wawa and think it has definitely improved Ewing! read more

Crazy how one experience can ruin a store for you. I place an order for a Chipotle turkey sourdough and a chicken parm, i ask the lady making the sandwichs if she could replace the bread for my large chicken parm sandwich with sourdough, I can no longer eat regular or whole wheat bread i didn't explain that to them because it isnt necessary, mind you I've been doing this for over a month now the never had an issue. So the lady says "ummm no I can't do that" and then asks a coworker named Dan who looked at me like I was asking for the impossible, he refused to make my sandwich and starts telling me how theres a huge price difference and that the size of the sandwich was different. I told him that I didn't mind, it didn't have to look pretty as long as I got it. I told him this has never been an issue before, he questioned me on who and what shifts I told him any and everytime I come in and order my sandwich. He then again brought up price and I told him i didn't mind. I was willing to pay for w.e. the extra was. He then told me to re order it as a sourdough instead so I said fine( fair is fair and I just wanted my food) and to his coworkers he said he was only gona put three chickens in my sandwich. so I canceled my order and only reorders my wife's food and I told Dan never mind about my sandwich to just do the other to which he said ok ... I dont understand how you play a customer like that, the initial lady has seen me before and I've asked her once to do it wasnt an issue then, and as for him i dont get how you complain about the price difference ( i guess to protect the place from losing money which is cool I get that) but then when the person agrees to pay the extra you try to then rip the customer off by offering 3 pieces of chicken for a higher price. By far the worst WaWa ever!! Sucks because I live across the street:( I literally just had to get a refund on my drink because after waiting 10minutes not one drink had been made and the one she was kinda working on was not mine. I stopped trying to get lunch there about a month after they opened because it takes your whole lunch break to get your lunch. And the register lines omg i have seen them 30 people deep no joke!! Oh and the shelves are usually empty so you get what you get. This place is totally understaffed and in return the people that work there are overworked and just don't care anymore(if they even cared to begin with).
