When I ordered it, I asked for it medium rare, but it was well done when it finally appeared. Disappointing. The food tasted fine although my hubby's chicken tasted like charcoal. About a half hour after waiting, the people next to us were told there was no roast beef. They adjusted their order and got their food before us, although we ordered before them. A bit strange. While I was waiting for our food, I walked inside to see what kind of things were for sale. They had balsamic vinegar and olive oil which were nice. The vinaigrette was really good and we were told they used the balsamic from it. However, on the shelves in the back, there was a cruddy jar of something that no one would buy. I picked it up not realizing it but put it back. I am adding a picture of the flowers. They were very nice. They should put some work into fixing the signs around that were peeling.

At other places you'll run the risk of getting a stale roll (depending on what time of day you go) raw, watery, old lettuce, slimy deli meat; Heritage is the complete opposite. The deli meat is sliced fresh in front of you, bread is always fresh, as well as their toppings. I'm not sure if they cut all the toppings first thing in the morning, but whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. I decided to go simple and ordered a BLT. Even that came with soup and fries. The sandwich was perfectly made with plenty of bacon. The fries were crispy, and the soup was delicious. My only suggestion was about the soup choice. They offer a rotating selection of five or six soups, included. They also offer their French Onion soup for an additional $3. I sprang for that upsell and love it. If you like French Onion soup, I'm sure you'll like it too.

It's a small, no frills spot on Route 40 that is solely for takeout, unless you count the one small table in there. I enjoyed everything I ordered, but especially the homemade mozzarella. Don't skip trying those!
