My Doctor wanted me to get an MRI on my lower back ASAP because of constant low back pain. So I "attempted" to schedule an MRI at Torrance Memorial Polack Imaging and was told the earliest I could get in would be about a week. So I remembered obtaining my last MRI at MRI Imaging in Torrance (now called Torrance Advanced Imaging). Telephone staff was able to get me in the next day and offered me various times that were convenient for me. Arrived the next morning at 7:30am to helpful receptionist and the MRI Tech. Was in and out in about 30 minutes. I was immediately given my MRI on a CD/DVR disc to provide to any doctor. They reminded me that the MRI is my property so any and all doctors can make copies and give the original back to me for future doctors' use. The actual Radiologist report would be available to me doctor the following day. And since I wanted a copy for my records, I dropped by the following day and they provided me with a hard copy of the Radiologist report. They accepted Medicare and my Supplemental. I could not be happier with the service and support that Torrance Advanced Imaging provides it clients/patients. Facilities are bright & clean. MRI technician would not allow me to bring my cane. I assured her that I needed my cane very unstable , I mentioned to her that I was concerned that I might fall. She did not care she did not help me off the MRI machine which I almost fell. I had to grab the MRI machine. please if you ever go to this place, bring someone with you as a witness type of care I was given was horrible. My experience. I will never go to this place again. Horrible Experience. I got an MRI and the technician kept telling me how old the machine was at the RB location. Then the MRI study failed. They offered to do another for free because it was their fault. I did the second at the Torrance location. My images never got attached to my file. I called 25 plus times the front desk was unhelpful and rude. Finally I got through to them I knew the issue but they would not listen and didn't care. It look 3-4 weeks of waiting. My insurance was new the next month and I paid for this because I wanted it timely and in the end I got it the next month so it didn't go to my deductible. The manager, said she would look into it and just ghosted me and never did anyhthing to help or reimburse due to their issues. I never write a review before but this time I have to do it because health concerns. My daughter came here for MRI exam. The lady who performed the exam on my daughter either inexperienced or new there. While she tried to figure to set up the MRI machine, a young lady came in and tried to show her how to do it correctly but she acted like a boss instead saying thank you for helped. During the exam, she came in and out the exam room at least three times to pulled my daughter in/out the MRI machine for fixed something that she didn't done correctly from the beginning. During the exam, she didn't tell my daughter to breathe in and out or hold breathe, she performed MRI exam without these steps even thought she practiced my daughter before the exam started. The exam took longer than 2 hours, I feel something went wrong so I came out the room I witnessed that she texted on her phone while performed exam on my daughter. My daughter never had any problem with procedures or exams in the past but this time she told me she was exhausted and fell asleep 3 times while inside the MRI machine. I was very disappointed in my appointment at Wave Imaging in Torrance. I did give them two stars due to the fact that I was able to get an appointment urgently. The woman who did my MRI lacked communication skills. She gave me vague directions and constantly seemed annoyed. She told me to sit down and then lay down on the machine and then started it without telling me anything or asking if I was ready, which I was not. She did not state what would happen, what sounds it would make, or how long it would be. If it were my first MRI, I would have been very scared and uncomfortable. When it was finished, she just opened the door and said I'm done so I showed myself out. It was very awkward and unnecessarily rude. It doesn't take a ton of effort to be a nice person. :) read more

Their front office scheduling team is incompetent or untrained. The first time i called for an apointment the attendant couldn't schedule my test because he couldn't read the doctor's Rx. Then I instructed my doctor to reissue the Rx with clear printing. Then I called a couple days later to try again, and they scheduled me in. THEN, after scheduling the appointment they cancelled it just a couple hours later due to "overbooking". Each time the phone attendant did not speak clear English and was difficult to understand. Do not go there under any circumstances! It's dangerous, and your health could be seriously compromised. I went in for an abdominal/pelvic MRI due to ongoing pain, and they completely ignored or failed to identify findings that were documented to me in imaging from other facilities. The report I received was so mediocre, it raises the question of whether a certified radiologist doctor even reviewed it properly. I have a history of similar imaging from reputable places, so I know what a thorough report should look like--this was absolutely not it! read more

I would give a zero rating if I could. I am writing this as a warning to people who are sent here by your doctor: don't go! My wife made the appointment for me, and it was bad from that start. The woman who was doing the scheduling had an almost incomprehensible accent, which led to confusion with our appointment. We received no confirmation call or email (like every other place does), nothing. Then we get to the office visit. So some unknown reason they expect you to be there a freaking half hour before your appointment (which I had no intention of doing), so you can sit in their tiny 10 square foot waiting room. Due to the scheduling nightmare, we ended up there a half hour early anyway, only to be told they are behind, and the wait would be an extra hour. The office women were rude and incompetent; they actually lied and contradicted themselves several times. Of course I left, but I foolishly gave them another chance by making an appointment for the next day. Mistake! An hour or so before the appointment we get a text that they are backed up again. I call to find out how long, get a recording and never get a call back. By this point I was not going back no matter what, but I did get a text an hour after when my appointment was supposed to be, telling me that I had to reschedule! Please, save yourself a lot of trouble and avoid this place like the plague. And I am not some angry person who goes around bashing everything; I am an average guy who just wanted to get an MRI, and who expected a minimum level of competence. From the time I walked in the door the it was just a warm golden experience the receptionist let me outside she saw that I was lost to little confused didn't know where I was going the doctor was great the office was clean the MRI the doctor made it as comfortable as he could make it for me due to that I am in so much pain he made it so comfortable For me ​ He adjusted the pillows under my leg because my arms were in so much pain He adjusted the sandbags although I push the button during the MRI to stop it because I was in so much pain it didn't bother him at all he comforted me and made sure I was ready before we restarted he didn't get mad he actually explained to me that it was very common and normal for me to feel the way that I did with that I was comfortable I don't like MRIs but if I had to take another one again I will definitely come here. Usually I go to Kaiser Permanente - South Bay when I have to get an MRI but they're fully booked for appointments for the next few months and my Neurologist needed me to have one ASAP. Kaiser Radiology referred me to WaveImaging and I could not be more happy. At first I read the reviews and was nervous because I had gotten so used to going to Kaiser. The staff here are so friendly and make you feel very comfortable. The receptionist did call me and say they were a little behind schedule but it was about 10-15 minutes from my scheduled appointment time. That is acceptable to me. The tech was very kind. She talked to me during the process and left me feeling less anxious. What I liked about this MRI is that you are provided with ear plugs and a plastic headset with rubber ear muffs to further block out the noise from the MRI machine. Also, I was given the option of lights on or off to help calm your nerves. And I got padding for my shoulders and a thick sheet for added warmth. If I ever have to get another MRI I might ask Kaiser to refer me here again as I had a great experience. read more

I would give less than one but then you couldn't leave a critique Appt was for 11:50, got there 11:35 signed 4 minutes of forms and then sat down to wait for my time. A girl walks in and says when's your appt and I told her and she oh mines at 11:45! Well that's not going to work since most MRIs are 30-45 minutes easy. So another guy walks in and I asked him when his appt was for And he said 11. So he is before her and me! I got up and asked the receptionist how this could be and she said it's just busy. Well sure it's busy if you are booking people on top of others and not allowing for time. So I asked her to not charge my insurance as I was leaving. I took time off work, fasted till noon and had to do some other things as well to be ready for my part of the mri. Then they had the gall to call me at 1:40 And tell me they were ready for me as I hear another lady yell at her, He left and canceled. Wow what a major joke. And they probably get paid huge $$$. I've had a lot of MRIs done in many different locations, and this was the absolute worst experience of them all. I guess the only reason I'm not giving them 1 star is that the actual MRI tech was nice. Pros: 1. The MRI tech I got was nice. Not exceptional by any means, but nice enough. 2. The lockers in the dressing room are super modern, with a PIN keycode. Cons: 1. Making the appointment - you receive a call from a call center in some other country and an agent whose first language is not English and whom you can barely understand. 2. The pre-paperwork - it's extremely lengthy and overly detailed. It also tells you not to eat anything, even a mint, for 4 hours before your MRI, and no liquids except water. None of my other MRIs ever had restrictions on food or drink. I complied, but when I arrived, no one even asked me about this, so apparently it doesn't matter at all anyway. 3. The waiting room - it's small and cramped, with just 4 chairs crammed into a tiny space. When I went in, there were 5 people and only 4 chairs, so 1 person had to stand. There is also no privacy, so everyone in the waiting room hears everything the patient at the window says to the receptionist and vice-versa, which can't be HIPAA-compliant. 4. The staff - the receptionists were rude and unfriendly, barking orders and demanding answers to questions, and no smiles from any of them. They truly seemed to hate their jobs. One even complained openly for all to hear about her boss, whoever that was. The one doctor there, Dr. Omar Arafat, gossiped loudly with a complaining receptionist, then came into the waiting room to get water, all the while ignoring all the patients as though we were invisible and not the reason for his practice inexplicably staying afloat. 5. The timing - I was told to arrive at 2:20pm for a 2:40pm appointment, so I did. In fact, I arrived at 2:17pm. Not sure why, as I already filled out the paperwork ahead of time. I was taken to the dressing room about 2:30, but didn't even have my MRI start until past 3:00pm. 6. The dressing room - there is just one dressing room, despite multiple patients. After my MRI, I stood around waiting for 10 minutes for another patient to vacate the dressing room so that I could get dressed and collect my purse. 7. The intermediate waiting area - after changing into a gown, you sit in a lone chair in the hallway, because the place is so small and cramped that there is nowhere else to go. I sat there for more than 30 minutes with nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs. Not a single staff member bothered to greet me, explain why they were running late, or give me an ETA on my MRI. Again, I may as well have been invisible. 8. When I was finally changed and ready to go, the receptionist asked me if I wanted the pictures on a CD. I was about to say yes, but then she said I'd have to wait another 10 minutes for her to burn the CD. I didn't know people still burned CDs. Last time I burned a CD was 20 years ago. In any case, I had already been there for nearly 2 hours, so I said no thanks. Then at that point, she told me I could go online to view the pictures. Why wasn't this presented as an option in the beginning? Overall, this place needs a lot of work, and some serious employee retraining (including the MD). It also needs a larger space, as the office is way too small for the patient volume. You can tell they are trying to save money not just on rent, but by cutting corners too - the front desk staff is mediocre at best, the decor is awful (generic, outdated, and cobbled together, as though employees just brought in stuff from home that they no longer wanted), and the walls have noticeable damage in multiple spots. I had a good long while to make observations while sitting in the hall. read more

They are very late to get to you. After sitting there for 10 minutes I asked how long the wait would be, she said 40 minutes. I explained that i had already taken the meds and they would wear off before they got me in to the MRI. It was well over an hour and a half!! My appointment was at 3:50, (arrived at 3:30), and I got out of there just before 6:30 pm. Very unprofessional to not update patients, so they can decide if they'd like to reschedule or stick it out. read more

I called for an appointment and I was scheduled for 4 PM. I was told that I needed to be there 20 minutes early so I crossed out 4 PM on my PostIt, and wrote 3:40 PM. Just before leaving for my appointment I accessed the email that I had received from wave imaging to check the address. When I visited the link on the email, it said that my appointment was at 4:30 and my arrival time was 4:20 PM. I remember thinking, I'm glad I checked this. So I arrived at about quarter after four, and I was immediately told that they were way behind and that I would have to wait. I commented that had I not checked the email, that I might have arrived at 3:40, which was almost an hour before my appointment, and then I would still have to wait for the delay. Once I made this comment, the staff attitude completely changed. The girl that was facing away from me at the desk turned around and gave me the evil eye, as it were. I asked the receptionist how long she thought the delay would be, and she sort of shrugged and said she'd been here since 5:30 AM. (Wait... what???) So I sat down in the little tiny waiting room that was about 80° and decided I would have to wait, but after a few minutes it occurred to me that it would be at least 30 minutes before I was even seen, so I asked if I could get a phone call or a text when they were ready for me and I could go and get something to eat or something. So that's what I did. About 25 minutes later, I got back to the hot little waiting room, and still had to wait about 25 minutes. I did have to go outside though, because it was stifling hot in that little waiting room. Just as I was about to go in and request a reschedule, my phone rang end it was them letting me know they were ready for me. read more

I was referred here to get an MRI in order to see a neurologist about my chronic migraines. Scheduled an appointment after the receptionist kept asking me the same questions repeatedly, slightly annoying but no big deal. Went out of the country for a few weeks and the day I returned and got cell reception I had four voicemails from them. Then they called my emergency contact because they couldn't get ahold of me after I told them I would be out of the country. Called them back and they said they needed to reschedule for earlier that day so the nurse could give me some medication to help me because I'm claustrophobic. I arrive on time for my appointment and they tell me that I had to call my doctor to pick up the medication. Angry about the emergency contact call as it was unnecessary and an invasion of privacy. The person and phone number should only be used for an EMERGENCY! Also, angry about arriving half an hour early just to find out by this woman who couldn't stop talking to me over the phone forgot to tell me about calling my doctor in order to get the meds in time. Currently in the waiting room and will try to get through the scan without the prescribed medication for it. Thankfully, I'm so sick that I may be able to fall asleep and not be terrified by being in a very confined area. Do not recommend. Very unprofessional. read more

I tried scheduling an appointment over the phone but the person insisted I needed my primary care physician to call RadNet before they could schedule my MRI even though I had a hand-written order from my doctor. So I decided to walk in to the facility on Madison in Torrance on a Saturday morning. The receptionist was very kind and helpful and was able to book me an appointment in 5 days. I am giving two stars because the actual exam was fine. The problem is with the larger company they are part of. The billing department is absolutely horrible to deal with. I had prior approval and paid my expected portion up front. They are IN my network of my PPO. They billed it incorrectly as being out of network. I have now been working for six months to solve this problem to no avail. My insurance company did the rebilling themselves and reissued correct payment with a new explanation of benefits, and they still refuse to solve the problem. At this point, they have been paid by the insurance company as per the PPO contract. I have paid actually more than I owed. So they now owe me money. But, they still will not solve this issue and still say I owe them and are threatening collections. My insurance company called and reached out to them as well, with no closure. Unacceptable business practices. Never going back and my doctor will no longer refer to this company. read more

I had an itch right near the base of my nose and I was trapped, unable to scratch it. Murphy was alive and well inside this infernal machine.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy%27s_law) Sealed tight in a padded cylindrical plastic tube of noise, I dared not attempt to lift my arm up to stifle the itch. Any motion might mean another minutes-long "session" of ear-splitting clangs and clunks even though I had inserted ear plugs and was listening to the smooth jazz sounds of the Wave on headsets. A concerted effort of self-control and mental imagery worked to make the itch "disappear", at least temporarily. I pictured Jeannie crossing her arms, twitching her nose and with a big head nod, making herself appear on that beach with Maj Whats-His-Name laying on a magic carpet popping some champagne and filling a Vapir. The staff here are friendly and professional and did their best to make this uncomfortable situation comfortable. Even if you're not claustrophobic, chances are you're going to feel squeezed. But using the 3.0 Tesla Ultra-High Field Imaging promised the highest resolution and the shortest amount of time. Or so they say. As it was, I was still fighting Murphy as I made my way to the door, free anyway. It took about 20 minutes. read more

I just got my bill and it was nothing compared to the bill I received when I went to the hospital for my MRI! I can't believe a hospital can charge you so much more for the same service in a worse machine. They have a 3 Tesla here and my doctor said the images were far superior. He had my results of my knee MRI the same day! The people that worked there were really nice and funny. The guy that did my MRI was a good guy and got me in and out in 15 minutes. I have had several MRI's from Torrance Imaging and was very pleased with the service. This week I went in for another MRI and was extremely disappointed. The MRI tech had zero communication with me before, during or after the test. In the past, the tech monitored me by having verbal contact via microphone inside the machine between every set of tests. She would let me know how long each increment would be so that I had a rough estimate of how long the MRI will last. This different tech, as I mentioned already had NO communication with me, so I was left feeling like the test was taking hours to complete. I was also not given a head set like last time, only earplugs that don't help much at all with the very loud sound!! The young lady who checked me in was very sweet and helpful, but the rest of the service made we want to choose a different company next time. read more

The staff is amazing and I even came back for a second MRI here afterward, so this is no comment on them (read my original review; it says it all). These two stars are for the Radiologist who reviewed my MRI, which is part and parcel of the service of getting an MRI at MRI Centers or anywhere else. I marked the spot I was having pain on their fill-in sheet and when I got the report back it was a "negative finding" which means nothing unusual. Well, lo and behold, after scoping out the MRI on my PC there was a weird spot right where I marked the pain. The tech, John, did an excellent job getting multiple close-ups of it and guess what? The radiologist didn't even mention it in the report. I had to take my laptop with the disc of my MRI to my doctor and he said: "OH that's inflammation right in your pain spot." I mean, excuse me, what more do you want, Mr. Radiologist? The pain spot was shown on a piece of paper to you and the tech did close-ups of it and it still goes unmentioned to my doctor and had I not been pro-active regarding my health I would have not even heard about the fact that there is a nerve there that's inflamed and causing me all sorts of problems. Luckily I have something to take to the neurologist now but honestly I want my money back for that oversight. It was a huge one. read more

This center is very unprofessional in their communications with prospective patients. I called yesterday requesting a 7:30 pm time slot for a cervical spine MRI. I was told by the gentleman answering the phone that I was confirmed. Seconds later, I was then asked to come at 8:00 pm instead. After this, I confirmed twice during this call that my scan was going to be performed at 8:00 pm last night. Upon arriving at the imaging center, I was asked by the receptionist why I had arrived so early. I looked at my cell phone. It was 7:36 pm. Out of courtesy, I arrived 24 minutes prior in the event there was additional paperwork to be completed. I always arrive early for medical appointments out of consideration of the facility and subsequent patients. The receptionist refused to accept responsibility for the scheduling error, and also refused to rectify their mistake. In fact, she blamed me for the scheduling mishap. That is when I decided to take my business elsewhere. It is a shame, since this imaging center is relatively close to my Manhattan Beach house, and had advertised fair pricing for their 3.0T MRIs. Out of principle, I will never return. Nor will I send any patients there, since I work professionally in the medical field. It is a very competitive market for outpatient radiology centers, especially with all of the recent health care cuts for this field of medicine. The owners of this center will have to vastly improve their employee hiring parameters, as well as their customer service skills if they expect to have any longevity in the health care sector during these rocky times. Excellent customer service is paramount, as there is always another outpatient or even inpatient radiology imaging center that will be willing to take a patient's money. read more

The staff at this facility is EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I had to get an MRI done, I was in a lot of pain, and I gave the receptionist my information MULTIPLE times, and talked to her for TWO days to set up an appointment, and she still wasn't able to do it, because she was too distracted and incompetent!!! She kept asking me to verify the same information over and over again, it was so annoying....and I felt like she was purposely doing this to upset me. The first day she claimed that my doctors office didn't fax her the paper work, so I called my doctors office to see if they had done so, and the receptionist said that she faxed the paper work over 4 times!! Then the receptionist couldn't comprehend how to verify my address. I had to repeat my address multiple times, this whole process took around 45 minutes. When she finally got the paperwork from the other office, she said that she would call me back and never did, the office was closed. The next day I called to attempt to schedule an appointment again, and she said, "What are you getting done?" I told her a MRI, then she said "A CAT Scan?".... I said no a MRI....Then she said "Are you getting an X-ray?" I said no an MRI...then she said "Ok so your getting a CAT scan done?" I said NO a MRI....then she said "Ok I will make an appointment for a CAT Scan" Then she started laughing at me with another co-worker, while talking to me on the phone. When she asked me for my insurance number, and I gave it to her literally 15 times, and she kept getting the numbers wrong!! Forty five minutes later of going back and forth with her, I asked her if I could speak to her supervisor, at first she said that there was no one available, then she claimed that she was a supervisor. When she realized that I knew that she wasn't a supervisor and I knew she was lying, she finally transferred me to a guy named Angel, who was also extremely rude. He was very flamboyant, very sarcastic!! I asked him why did I have to repeat myself, continuously to the receptionist, and he yelled at me and said that she was sitting right by him, and she did nothing wrong!! (since he claimed that he was sitting next to her, I assumed that this was the person that she was laughing and talking about me too). Anyway, he then proceeded to say that he has been with the company for 9 years, and they have millions of customers. I told him that his longevity with the company had noting to do with me making an MRI appointment, I also told him that I didn't appreciate his receptionist having other conversations and laughing with her co workers, while I was on the phone, it was very unprofessional. He became very sarcastic, and told me that they weren't going to make an appointment for me, and that I needed to go somewhere else to get an MRI. I then called back and asked if I could speak to the doctor, or another manager, and they wouldn't let me speak to one. The receptionist repeatedly hung up in my face. I have contacted my insurance company and reported them, they are doing an investigation, I also contacted the better business bureau and reported them!! This has been a very bad experience, and I shouldn't have to deal with this behavior especially if my insurance is paying for it, and I am essentially writing their paycheck!!!!! All I can say is DON'T GO TO MRI CENTERS in TORRANCE!! SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE, AND GO TO A DIFFERENT FACILITY!!! I know a lot of people in my community, and I will be sure to let them know how horrible the staff is at MRI Centers. If the doctors who work there were smart, they would fire their incompetent staff, and hire new people before they loose their business!!! Just had my first MRI completed. Did it here. Shoulder, 9 minutes in the machine, $350 cash and they gave me images on DVD plus film. The staff was friendly and professional. I did not have to sit in the waiting room very long. I'd use them again and would recommend them to others. read more

Wow!!! The person who answered the phone seemed very efficient and nice. Sadly, the initial professionalism was hijacked by the person to whom I was transferred next, Daniel. Absolutely no greeting. Daniel did not volunteer his name, I had to ask, never asked for my name and just started barking out utterances "Doctor's Name, DOB, etc" - I asked a question about something on the website and was told condescendingly that they don't offer it because they don't have software . . . Daniel is RUDE which is the nicest thing I can say and an understatement. I asked to speak with someone else and again, got a nice, efficient and professional person, Krista - made the appointment, explained the process and hope I don't have to interact with Daniel again. I will NEVER go to this office again! They do not have the experience to deal with people with very small veins so I strongly do not recommend. I actually went twice(7 months apart), 3 people were looking for a vein to inject contrast so they poked me 5 times looking for the vain.It was never found the test was incomplete once again and I had gotten a very large black/purple bruise because they tried to use a vein that already had a IV put in just a week old. My doctor was also very upset because it was the second time they gave him an incomplete test back. Never again! :( I got my test redone and completed fast and easy at a hospital. They tried to call me back to complete the exam but when I tried to explain I had a very bad experience there they didn't want to bother to know what happened! I will never ever recommend this place to anyone-ever! read more

This facility is pleasant with a friendly and competent staff. Joseph is a warm and professional technician. I really appreciated how he made sure i was comfortable and warm. ( the room is very cold due to the machine). And most of all it put me at ease by telling me the length of each series during the 45 minute session. The people here are very nice, professional and the facility is top notch. From what I understand their Phillips MRI machine is state-of-the-art with higher resolution. The price for their general MRI is about $150-$200 less than anywhere else. I highly recommend this facility read more
