Building was easy to find. I've had MRIs in the past so I familiar with the process. Receptionist was welcoming. Completed patient paperwork. I was shocked that I had to fully disrobe just for my ankle when with previous ankle MRIs I didn't have to disrobe. (I was told that due to Covid protocols I had too). Angie was the MRI specialist and she explained the process well. Throughout your mri she will make constant contact to make sure you're ok. She Cleaned the dressing room, locker and they give you socks. I took off my toe ring, belly ring, nose ring and ring requested a white envelope to put my items in. When all was said and done, I got dressed paid and left. It was until late at night I realized that I only put on my belly ring and my toe ring and didn't get my nose ring (super small Custome diamond and my ring). I accidentally left in the envelope but trashed it with the socks they give you. I called left a voicemail they called back and the cleaning lady empty the trash. Very disappointed.

First, the overall experience ran smoothly from beginning to end. They checked with my insurance to verify any associated costs for the procedure and responded in timely manner with setting up the appointment. Second, I highly recommend an open MRI for those like myself who struggle with claustrophobia. I looked to the open side during the scan and it helped, tremendously. It's a game changer, in the best way. Third, the staff was warm and welcoming. The gentleman who conducted the MRI put on great classic rock, which made for a super friendly experience. Fourth, I took the CD they give patients to my Orthopedic Specialists at Kerlan Jobe and discussed the results with my P.A. Thank you Bay Harbor MRI! It's a relief to know that I no longer have to fear MRI's.

So I…read more"attempted" to schedule an MRI at Torrance Memorial Polack Imaging and was told the earliest I could get in would be about a week. So I remembered obtaining my last MRI at MRI Imaging in Torrance (now called Torrance Advanced Imaging). Telephone staff was able to get me in the next day and offered me various times that were convenient for me. Arrived the next morning at 7:30am to helpful receptionist and the MRI Tech. Was in and out in about 30 minutes. I was immediately given my MRI on a CD/DVR disc to provide to any doctor. They reminded me that the MRI is my property so any and all doctors can make copies and give the original back to me for future doctors' use. The actual Radiologist report would be available to me doctor the following day. And since I wanted a copy for my records, I dropped by the following day and they provided me with a hard copy of the Radiologist report. They accepted Medicare and my Supplemental. I could not be happier with the service and support that Torrance Advanced Imaging provides it clients/patients. Facilities are bright & clean. All staff was knowledgable, friendly and competent.

MRI technician would not allow me to bring my cane. I assured her that I needed my cane very unstable , I mentioned to her that I was concerned that I might fall. She did not care she did not help me off the MRI machine which I almost fell. I had to grab the MRI machine. please if you ever go to this place, bring someone with you as a witness type of care I was given was horrible. My experience. I will never go to this place again. Most of my doctors work with Torrance Memorial so I've been to Polak Imaging many times. Pre-check in online makes the process much faster and easier once you arrive. Appointments are kept in a reasonable amount of time. Staff are predominantly friendly and efficient. The whole procedure was completed quickly and they had me out in less than an hour. Never a problem having tests done at this facility.

** Update on the bill ***…read more Recently I received a bill for a routine abdomen ultrasound and I was completely dumbfounded by the bill. This imaging facility charged $2.6k for an ultrasound service and I ended up being responsible for half of the remaining balance. Later I found out that Cedars-Sinai (Torrance Memorial is an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai) charges some of the highest rates for abdominal ultrasounds in Los Angeles County for standard PPO plans and the median negotiated prices in Los Angeles County are lower than four figures ( https://tavenhealth.com/procedures/abdominal-ultrasound-los-angeles-ca ). I did send a message through their feedback portal ( http://torrancememorial.org/patientfeedback ) and honestly I was not surprised that they didn't respond even after I had left my contact information and asked to be contacted regarding this matter. I ended up calling the billing department and the staff simply said that's how it is billed & the only action they took was mailing the itemized charges. Main takeaway message - only come here if you have HMO insurance. If you have PPO insurance, get a price check on the Torrance Memorial website on price transparency ( https://www.torrancememorial.org/patients-visitors/billing-insurance/price-transparency/ ) by reviewing the machine-readable file that provides pricing information before committing to an imaging service at this facility.
