I, like you, was scrolling through Yelp reviews trying to find the best shop in Mammoth to demo boards. Wave Rave has some polarizing ratings, but I implore you to do what I did and ignore all the bad ones. My boyfriend and I both had a great experience with all the employees, but specifically; Joey, Patrick, and Jimmy. They got me set up with a solid demo board (that I ended up purchasing), answered all of our questions, suggested a few changes to stance settings and binding placement, and made good enough recommendations that my boyfriend also bought a new board. I have zero complaints about my experience. I get the feeling that they're happy to match your energy, so go in with some common sense and a good attitude and you'll get the same in return. read more

Wow. What a gem of a place to buy snow gear! A friend recommended this place, especially when I mentioned that I was on the lookout for bindings. After a long day of snowboarding at Mammoth and having to deal with my crappy bindings, I had to call it. We drove home and as we passed Bishop, I wanted to check out their offerings. Didn't really expect to come out buying anything, but the guys working there were so cool, so knowledgeable, so helpful, and they had what I needed! Plus, their deals were amazing! The service here is exceptional!!! A great place to find a variety of gear at great prices. Tyler went above and beyond to help us pick some goggles. He was super patient, answered our many questions, and was so nice!!! And he did this all even with having many other customers in the store. This shop is Wave Rave's Mammoth and Los Angeles' clearance store. They carry prior years and older items at a discount. So it's usually a hit and miss for me depending on what they have in. Well yesterday definitely was a hit. Found a snowboard, bindings and boots for my 13 YO all for just a little over the retail cost of the snowboard. I always stop on my way back from mammoth and over the years have gotten to know Wilily pretty well to the point he always does his best to give me the absolute best price possible. Unfortunately he wasn't working yesterday, but Josh still hooked me up. The store is packed with clothing, accessories and boards. Depending on the crowds, service can be slow, but if you have the patience, it will pay off. read more

This place is awesome. Why? Well Tyler went above and beyond to help me out with an exchange and getting me some new bindings for my board. Where most places will charge $30 to put your bindings on or even adjust them, the Wave Rave in bishop does it for free. Tyler also made sure he helped out other customers since he was the only one there that day! He truly knew how to run that place and was calm cool collected the whole time. I had not the greatest experience at the Wave Rave in Mammoth so it was such a breath of fresh air when I walked into the Bishop one and was immediately comforted by Tyler. I stopped by Wave Rave as a new snowboarder looking for help with a used board I purchased. I was welcomed into the store by Tyler who then proceeded to take the time to help me fit my board to my feet. I can't say enough about the confidence he instilled in me with our conversation. I spent nearly 30 minutes talking and learning about my board and what to expect when I went down my run. If you are new to snowboarding or not, this is the place to go. My family an I decided to stop here on my way home from Mammoth. This seems to be the place where unsold inventory from the Mammoth shop and worst staff are housed. The customer service here was so bad it was comical. When my family and I walked into the store and past the employee at the counter he couldn't bother to lift his eyes from his laptop. I mean there was no "welcome", "hello", "let me know if you need help." The guy did not speak a word or even make eye contact. I've never seen anything like it. I mean it takes work as an employee to not even turn to look at customers who are walking within a few feet by you. I looked at a few snowboards which may have been marked down but I couldn't tell. They were marked at full price but were last year's models. I waited a few minutes to see if the employee who didn't acknowledge us on the way in would offer assistance to ask. When he couldn't bother to even turn around after a few minutes we walked out. No eye contact or a sound from him on the way out either. At least he was consistent. Not worth stopping in. read more

Not sure why this shop gets a bad rep, but the two guys working helped us and we're so kind. We went around 7:30pm, 30 mins before closing, and they openly waxed our snowboards, helped my fiancé find some new boots even though he wasn't sure of buying any, the worker still helped him try some on so he knows his size. I really appreciate our Local Wave Rave. Not only do they keep the dopest gear instock. They have great prices. As well as great customer service. Willie, Tyler, and Josh are the best. Not only are they super helpful and friendly at the shop. The time they have invested in the youth of our community is amazing. They've been out here teaching kids to skate and board since the shop opened.. Building their confidence. They are always looking out for kids when their down. It really is a super cool spot! I have been here twice this year. Both times the services were very attentive. It's a small store and maybe 2-3 employees the most. I was there on Friday afternoon looking for new bindings for my daughter. Josh and Willy were super nice and helpful. They got my daughter a new set of bindings and offer to set them up. I was on my way to mammoth when I remember that I had forgotten my ski jacket at home. I stopped by this place in Bishop because it looked like they had what I needed. When I walked in I started looking at the small selection of woman's jackets by the entrance. When I asked the guy behind the counter if that was all the woman's jackets they had, he said yes. Well that wasn't going to cut it. None of those jackets came in a size large. So I went to the "mens" section. As I was looking what I thought was the "mens" section, I realize es all the jackets I was looking at were woman's. As I dug through the selection looking for a large that would get me through the snow that was expected, I found one. It didn't show a warmth rating so I asked the intelligent (moron) man behind the counter. He said anything Gortex was 30k. Needless to say I trusted his word and bought the jacket. When I got to my hotel, I looked up the jacket and the jacket was made to provide little warmth! I called the next morning and they told me they cannot refund me the money. Only an exchange. That wasn't going to work considering they only had 3 size large jackets. Only one was made to keep dry and that was the one I bought but it did not keep me warm. read more

Since Yelp posted their hours as being open until 9pm on Saturday we decided to have dinner first. I was so disappointed when we went to the store at 8pm and the shop was closed. Just a super small Wave Rave satellite location. This is likely here as a lot of folks stop in Bishop on their way to Mammoth. Thus they are trying to get the crowd who hits up places like valuesports. It also helps that it is right across the street from Mahogany Meats. They have a bunch of goggles, gloves, hats, etc on sale here. Most of these things are priced 30 to 60 off msrp. Consequently, you may be able to find a deal in here if you are looking diligently. When I was here yesterday, their selection of jackets and pants was very small and seemed to mostly be higher end gear out of my price range. However most of the stuff for sale here is what you would expect at pricing that is pretty much in line with everything else. Unlike the wave rave in Mammoth though, they don't have a check in offer. The Mammoth location gives you a free overnight machine wax. That is super handy. Who knows what kind of hidden gem you can find in here though. However it was just a typical small board shop not next to the mountain so far as I could tell. Check it out if you want, but it is no different than almost any other board shop in this area. Except for one thing, they also carry skateboards including downhill long boards and some regular traditional ones. They also had some specialty decks and a number of trucks/wheels. read more

We were on a camping trip in Bishop and needed more swimsuits for our group of kids . We stopped by to see if by chance they had any at all. . . Well we were pleasantly surprised! We had to shop from the front door (Covid) , but the 2 guys helping us were so patient and helpful! We all ended up buying 3-4 kids swimsuits! I usually shop at the Wave Rave location in Mammoth but when this location had opened about 2 or 3 years ago I had to give it a try. They have some great deals in this place year-round! Great place to stop on the way to Mammoth if you forgot any snowboard gear, clothing, or accessories. Just like the other location the staff here is super chill. The guys at Wave Rave don't just sell gear, they actually ride and you'll see employees from both locations frequently on the hill. You can't say the same for many of the big box corporate stores. Wave Rave has always prided itself on being a small family-owned business run strictly by snowboarders, for snowboarders! They are my go-to shop. I forgot my mitts and stopped in to buy a pair. Found a good pair on sale and was out in 15 minutes. Easy to find right off hwy 395 in Bishop across from Rite Aid. read more
