When I got pregnant, I assumed I would have a birthing center birth again. But I decided to talk to Corinne, just to learn a little more about the possibility of a home birth. Their warmth and calmness made me feel so confident and comfortable with having a home birth. Choosing Birth roots for my birth was the best decision I ever made. Birth is a transformative time in your life and Corinne and Coté understand that and are there for you for every part. Being able to meet with the same midwife for each appointment made a huge difference in level of care. Corinne knew my previous birth story, knew about my first born, my partner, and most importantly every aspect of this pregnancy. They knew my concerns, my joys, and how I envisioned my birth. Honestly, it felt more like talking to a friend and therapist every visit. Corinne makes you feel extremely comfortable, I was able to share all of my concerns, doubts, and worries without judgement. I was able to have an amazing homebirth because of them. Throughout my fourth trimester, Corinne was still there checking in on me and baby. They understand the difficulties of post partum and truly show up for you. It's the support every woman deserves after birth. Then, there is Coté who is equally amazing. Her warmth, knowledge, and nourishing soul made my entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum just that much better. Walking into her home and being welcomed with warm tea and positive energy is exactly what I always needed without even knowing it. I always left her feeling more at ease and at peace. She has a gift. Cote also organizes classes and post partum gatherings which I was able to be a part of and absolutely loved. The post partum groups are a blessing. If you are questioning on whether or not to choose Birth Roots, do it! You won't regret it.

We could not have asked for better people to guide us on this journey. We looked forward to every appointment with Corinne. Corinne is knowledgeable, caring and emotionally intelligent. We always felt like we were in good hands, which kept anxiety low and positive energy high throughout our pregnancy. Coté added an element we wouldn't even have known exactly how to seek or ask for. Through singing, drums, story, massage, ritual, candles, education...you name it!...she helped to bring out the deep meaning inherent in pregnancy and birth. We came away from prenatal and postnatal sessions with Coté whispering to ourselves "whoa!" and feeling indescribable peace that you might normally associate with the best meditation or religious ceremonies. We would be thanking our lucky stars to have found either of these wonderful people to assist us with welcoming our son into our family, but having both of them contribute according to their special gifts and talents still feels almost too good to be true. Thank you Corinne and Coté from the bottom of our hearts.

After years of taking care of an elderly parent, I neglected myself. My 1st appointment was with Dr. Cynthia Page (Ob/Gyne) I asked her to refer me to an African-American physician & she recommended her husband...EXCELLENT CHOICE!! lol My introduction at the Oak Park, IL Lake St office was with the receptionist extraordinaire Ms. Alice Cole. Very friendly, pleasant, greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcomed, like a member of Dr. Robinson's extended family versus just another patient. My next encounter was with Laquita, who began with my preliminaries. Very professional, knowledgeable and kind. I've worked in the dental industry for over 30 years and have "the eye" to spot exceptional employees. Laquita is definitely the "employee every office wants". My first experience at Dr. Robinson's was a world away from previous experiences elsewhere. When I say Dr. Robinson and his team of professionals made me feel that I was in safe hands, I mean it. I smiled, laughed, cried when sharing personal "hidden secrets" and was never left to feel like a statistic, I felt "loved". He treated me with tender loving care because he really does care! You can believe this man of God is awesome and I am truly grateful Dr. Cynthia Page referred me. So the next time you're feeling bad, need a physician, want a second opinion or unable to see your own physician, Dr. Forrest J. Robinson, DO is the man to see. I appreciated his willingness to answer questions and prophetically speak life into me (only the saved will get that~wink) Kudos to Dr. Forrest J. Robinson and the awesome team at Edward-Elmhurst Oak Park location. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

I thought I wanted a doula just for the day of delivery but what I found was that the work we did together before delivery is what altered the whole experience. So, even if you are an experienced mom, you are having a traditional medical birth, having Leah as your doula will deepen your experience and give it back to you as truly yours in a profound way. I can't thank her enough for walking with me through it and guiding me into myself so I could remember my own agency and power and strength in it all.

My child is now 12 years old and I never got over the way she treated me. I think that she should not be in practice. Her bedside manner was terrible, cold and frankly cruel. I had a high risk of clostridium difficile infection having had it three times before. She told me that if I didn't do the swab test for group B strep that my baby would most likely be born and get sick and die. The antibiotics needed to treat this would have most likely killed me, which seemed okay to her. Suffice to say - I did the swab under duress and it came back NEGATIVE. She would not work with me to come up with a safe alternative for ME and my baby. It was her way or the highway. Thankfully, I had an uncomplicated and easy delivery. I never had to see her again and never had more children. She should not be in practice, it was an absolutely hellish experience for me.

I had my third child with Dr. Brotman after having two previous C-sections. She allowed me to wait to see if I could do a VBAC for my third. I went all the way to 41 weeks and 2 days. Labored for almost 2 days at home on and off before we agreed a repeat C-section would be best since my water was broken for well over 24 hours with no significant dilation. She is straight forward but extremely kind and caring. Also very respectful of your ideals/desires for your pregnancy and delivery especially if you are not "main-stream" minded. Also, with my third this was my first time getting preeclampsia. For me, as an individual who has an extremely hard time with medications she was Iike a 2nd mom. She would answer my texts and calls all times of the day - always with a calming disposition. I was in and out of two different hospitals before coming back to West Suburban with my new infant (which she graciously allowed as my husband needed to be at home with our other two under 4, one special needs) so I could be treated with a mag drip. And for the months post delivery, she also would be responsive via text/calls after hours on medication doses as my blood pressure was ever changing. I drive an hour each way to see her and will be continuing to do so as long as we live in IL. I cannot say enough great things about her. She is truly a blessing. I'm so grateful for her bringing our second daughter into this world and for truly caring about my physical and mental health during my whole journey.

The staff is incredibly unreliable. They are rude and will give you sass if you ask a question. They will hang up on you. They always transfer you because they don't know HOW to help you. And as for the Doctors. I have been misdiagnosed by Doctors here. They always tell me, "I THINK you have-" as well as " I doubt it is-". They then proceed to ask me if I have any questions afterwards, for protocol purposes. They will tell me, "well if you had read the paper, it states". As someone who is not in the medical field. I can not understand the majority of what the paper states. In worse cases (majority), they will have the audacity to bill you. For what-Only to tell you what you already knew or that you needed to resolve the "issue" with some Tylenol.
