If you are looking for a company that actually cares about your family call Watkins. My Nina forgot she had an appointment for Watkins to come out. See her husband of over 50 years passed unexpectedly a day before. So her schedule was jumbled. but the gentleman was very apologetic and even offered to reschedule for no fee. My nina let them complete the job which they did an excellent job of (as always). The next day the same gentleman showed up to my Nina's door with an engraved wind chime as a gift. He thanked her for being a loyal customer for the past however many years and wanted to send his condolences from the Watkins family. My Nina was brought to tears by this gesture. Had a tech out for diagnostic the evening of 1/3 the tech stated they needed to order a part and it would be in 1/9-1/10 and would schedule a time to replace circuit board. Paid 100 diagnostic fee. Called and left a message 1/9 and 1/10 to check status of part and was told they would have the tech call me back both times but never received a call back. Called again 1/13 and was transferred to a condescending manager that said they were refusing to do the work because of a legal dispute that doesn't exist. So thanks for the week and a half without heat Watkins! Update they did issue a refund for the diagnostic fee. read more

Friendly, Responsive, Professional! When the 19 year-old AC system in our house started leaking condensate water onto the floor (rather than pumping it outside), I had to find an AC repair company. Googling "AC repair Kettering OH" showed some of the "big name" companies whose ads I'd seen on TV. Great...umm...not. I looked at their reviews on Yelp & Google, and was dismayed at just how poorly they were rated. Luckily (for me), I also saw Watkins' name in my Google search. While they've only got ~10 reviews on Yelp (a bit low, I thought, for a company in business for over 30 years), those reviews are all excellent. Hmmm... Googling Watkins Heating showed a LOT more reviews (~650) on Google itself, with an average of 4.9 out of 5 stars. So...I went to Watkins' website and set up a service appointment for the very next day. One very minor grumble...my appointment was set for 12 noon (with an understanding that it might be as late as 2 PM). I tried to be patient, but called Watkins' around 2:10PM, and learned that the technician (Andy) was finishing up his current job. Andy called me at 2:30PM, and was at our house about 20 minutes later. In a perfect world, he'd have been at our house between 12:00 & 2:00. Unfortunately, reality isn't quite like that. In any case, Andy arrived & I showed him the problem. In a short while, he gave me a detailed report about what was causing the water leak (a hose had popped off the condensate water pump, which was buried under the concrete slab BENEATH the almost 20-year-old AC unit). He said that he could secure the hose back in place, so that was the initial lowest cost approach. Unfortunately, even after he'd re-attached the drain hose & tested that it was pumping water properly, the 2003-vintage water pump was making a threatening noise suggesting that it was on its last legs. He again offered various options to addressing the problem (ranging from leave the old pump in service to raise the old AC unit off the floor to replacing the entire system). At NO TIME did I feel pressured to take one approach over the other. Andy was informative, detailed, friendly, and gave me his opinion on what approach might be best for my situation. Luckily (for me), Andy had a low profile condensate water pump on his truck and was able to install that (bypassing the soon-to-be-dead old pump). Our 19 year-old AC system was back in operation, without water leaking all over the floor. :-) Price for the service call/assessment/repair was very fair. Andy left his work area in perfect condition, with no mystery trash. All in all, I now know what company I'll call if/when the old heating/AC system decides to finally break down. We needed someone to service our fuel oil furnace. The dispatcher was pleasant and helpful. Josh called the next day 30 min before the appointment time and confirmed he was on his way. Very professional, polite and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem and gave me a quote. He came back as scheduled and completely serviced our furnace which was totally screwed up from the last company. You get what you pay for as Watkins wasn't the cheapest but the service and overall job was excellent. Thanks Josh great job! read more

We had an issue with our A/C system. When Tim the technician left he didn't turn the system back on and left us with no heat. Come to find out he left off a wire to the nest that makes the system run. So we had them back out to fix it. We asked for the nest to be replaced and they grudgingly agreed because they also seen what we seen, it looked broken. Only to find out that was the nest sensor. Not broken. When my husband called Tim the tech back to apologize. Tech replied where are you moving to. Hubby asked why. Tim Tech said so we don't do business with you any longer. He also asked me the same thing earlier (person home with tech). Which I was puzzled why is he asking me that. Only to find out we're being blacklisted by them. This was at the Springboro location. Very poor service and scary at the same time. I'm still shaking. Beware read more

Very pleased with the service Watkins provided us. After my initial call, technician Tony came the very next day and got my furnace up and running. Then over the weekend, problems again and on a very cold Saturday night, Troy came out and got us up and running...again. By Monday, no heat again and had to decide to repair or get a new system. Randy Watkins answered many, many questions. Never felt rushed to make a decision and really appreciated the many "what if..." conversations in weighing the pros and cons of repairing or replacing. So (!) we deceived on a new system and Jacob and Travis couldn't have done a better job! These guys worked hard all day and our home is once again warm and toasty! Very pleased with my services completed by this company. My furnace went out & they were able to get to me that same day. The receptionist, Amber, was very friendly on the phone. When asking if they for sure would be able to replace/fix the problem that day she said the technicians are fully stocked with equipment/parts in their vans & in their warehouse, but in the rare case that a special part would need to be ordered then they would supply us with space heaters. The technician, Chris, called about 20 minutes prior to arrival to say he was on his way & was even courteous enough to ask if I had a preference on where he parked when he arrived. Upon arrival he put booties on so not to track in anything on the floors. He discovered the problem right away, which was a blower motor, and gave us the breakdown of the cost beforehand. The cost was 1/2 the price of what we were quoted from a nearby competing company! He was here just a little over an hour and was very personable & professional. While working I had asked him several questions in which he answered right away & seemed to be very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company and intend to use them as my "go to" for any future HVAC needs! read more

What a Great Company. When I called Watkins for an appointment, the gentleman who answered the phone was polite and efficient with the appointment and information on when I would expect a service person to show up at my home. The day of the service the gentleman was 15 minutes early. He came in covering his feet so he would not track in any elements from the outside. After looking at my furnace he shared with me what his recommendations were to fix the problem. He had all the parts and equipment with him and was out of my home with the job completed within one hour. I told the service maine when he was leaving that I would be calling him to service my central air conditioner in the Spring. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. read more

Service technicians were clean and competent.I have had my furnace serviced for 5years approx.It seems to me that there is always an upsell involved.Huumidifier not working correctly ,replace with $500 model that 2 years later is doing same thing.New air filter module ,new blower motor installed $500 and then removed for "new improved $750 model on same day".I started using them for getting parts for air filter.IF YOU WANT TO BUY NEW HEATER I GUESS THEY ARE GOOD iF YOU WANT YOUR HEATER SERVICED I AM NOT SURE. read more
