There's a part of the playground for little kids and a part for bigger kids, as well as a sandbox to play in as well (there's woodchips over most of the ground). We also used the park bathrooms while there which were clean, though slightly smelly. We didn't use, but also saw tennis courts, a baseball field, a pool + splash pad, a basketball court, many swinging benches, and multiple pavilions. I wanted to do some hiking that afternoon to take advantage of the crisp, sunny fall weather, and I found this site on Tripadvisor. We didn't really know much about it but when we got here we were totally fascinated! There are nearly 200 ovens, some in much better condition than others, but to explore them was so interesting. As you leave the parking lot and approach the main section of ovens, you cross a little bridge and going right, you will be walking down a long path lined on both sides with ovens with a huge ditch in the middle. If you go left, you will walk by about a dozen ovens as the path curves around and turns into a gravel trail. If you follow the trail "behind" the ovens, on your left just about 50 yards away is a beautifully paved hiking path. We went over there and hiked several miles in one direction before turning back. Part of the path we hiked seemed to get slightly near some homes, but you couldn't really see them much. The walk was so, so beautiful with the leaves falling and the water in the creek next to the path running - you couldn't have created a better fall day. We so enjoyed this stop, it was a great outdoor experience and just set a great mood for our weekend. Absolutely check this place out!

Trail markers , paved trails, even a bi monthly quaterly magazine, listing all sorts of events. This was my first visit to an Ohio park to explore, and will defintly check out other locations in the near future. The vistor center staff were friendly ; the center itself was marvelous with variety of things to explore,the tree exhibit, the bird feeding area, kids area , turtles and the akorn gift shop. The gift shop shaped in a Maple leaf, in my opinion was genuis , simple addition to center for kids and nature lovers. Fall will be approaching soon; be sure to hike and enjoy the beauty of nature with exercise and fresh air.

Visited this state park for the first time earlier this month and had a blast!…read more I parked at what I think is the main lot, up above the mill itself. I didn't take a tour of the mill (which the park volunteers and staff do offer throughout the day) but I did walk through it and read the information in it about the history of the mill. Definitely enjoyed exploring and learning. That said, I was really there for the trails, so I spent most of my day hiking. I took a loop trail down from the mill and back (with a detour up a short trail to some falls) and it was great! I love being outside and I love a good challenge; these trails were not paved or even at all and I had a great workout navigating them. During hydration breaks I'd find a nice rock to sit on by the water, which was wonderful. It was noisy as heck by the mill because of the families, but the further out I got the more peaceful it got. Definitely met my goal of unplugging for a day during my trek on the trails. I want to come back in the future and begin to try to walk the Slippery Gorge Trail, as it sounds like the gorge is another beautiful part of the park. But that is definitely a long term goal, because that trail is not a short one! I loved visiting this park and I'd be back for sure. To everyone else, PLEASE remember water and wear the proper footwear - while I enjoyed my walk in the park, these trails are definitely not a walk in the park!

I wanted to try a new small lake to swim in because this place is only an hour away and my husband and I hadn't been there yet. Well, when I pulled up, I was just disappointed. The place feels really small and residential. While it might be nice to live there with your boat, I don't understand why it's a state park. I don't just come to parks to swim but it seems the only thing to do here is camp and boat. It might be OK for those things but it sure doesn't feel very much like you've stepped into the wilderness. We couldn't even find the beach! The pictures show a sandy beach but there was no sand to be found. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. We wound up turning around and going to Lake Milton (its closer to us anyway).
