Granted, it was the middle of the afternoon, so I wouldn't have expected the messy drunks to turn up in any case. The bartenders were really friendly and accommodating, flashing smiles all around, which always makes customers feel better. Their cider, by the way, is the most delicious thing I've tasted in a while. It tastes almost like really strong sparkling apple juice, and is no less intoxicating for its deliciousness, not to worry. They have two well-maintained pool tables, the cues are unbroken and unblemished (which is a rarity in pubs, I've noticed), and they don't have any balls missing! Another rarity. The inclusion of cafe style coffee here may be important for some people as in some other buffet there is often only instant or plunger coffee. By the time I received my sole (a type of flatfish) it was only just warm and the chips (which were really well presented in a little mesh basket) were cold and stale. It was more than horrible. There were heaps of little bones I had to pick through without being able to taste any of the fish whatsoever, it was just this whole fish chucked on a smaller plate. I could see bits of the fin broken off too where it had obviously been frozen and crushed up in the freezer. It was just so disappointing. I won't be dining back here or recommending this place to anyone else that's for sure.

The place is presented beautifully. Almost something you would consider to be a bit of an almost Melbournesque eatery, exposed brick walls, cute mismatched decor and dark inside. The owner makes a big effort to speak to you personally and ensure the staff are looking after you - which they're not really and I think it's his presence that keeps them working. When we went for dinner, the owner took our details promising the launch of a crab house in the coming weeks. That obviously hasn't happened and there's been no update at all so will be interesting to see what happens there. 3. The menu sucks and the food is average. There's just not enough on offer and at a range of prices (remembering it's a 10min walk from the UWS parra campus). Lunch was a selection of 4 burgers, one vego salad, a pan fried salmon (at $30!) and a chicken breast. Meh. I want a healthy sandwich, or a selection of salads, something more!! (And yes, I'm channelling Open City here, or anything in the USA). I don't remember the extent of the dinner menu but it was definitely short. The best thing about this pub is the cook yourself steak. There is a large bbq area which is inside where you cook a steak for $10 and you also get a load of hot chips. There is inside and outside seating. There are a variety of salads that accompany most meals or you can have baked vegetables. There is always a table available during the day and it is a good meeting point. Although there is no parking at the pub you can easily find parking in surrounding streets or opposite is the parking area for Coles and for the Market Centre.

The waitress kept checking if she could help with anything. She was most attentive. Parking can be found within the block as there is a large council parking area nearby. What drew me in on Sunday was a phone call from my Dad, inviting me up to listen to some live music. The semi acoustic act they had was great and was surprised to see such a crowd on a Sunday afternoon gather here. The bistro here serves pub meals, so its easy to come grab a feed and a beer here on Sunday and sit down and enjoy the free music , just keep an eye out for whose playing when, as I don't think this happens every week.
