This quant little grill is awesome. We sat outside on the deck and the view is amazing. Our drinks and food came out quickly even though they were quite busy at lunchtime on a Sunday. My husband ordered the roast beef sub with cole slaw and I ordered shrimp tacos. Both were fresh and delicious. The beer pretzels with cheese were quite tasty and a favorite for both of us. I am a loyal fan of another restaurant in the Mooresville area, but really just wanted to try something different. After doing some research about this place, and wanted a place I could sit outside for a bit and take in the lake views, drove the extra distance to see what this "historic location " was all about. Sadly, I will never go back. The vibe outside screams dive/biker bar. Okay, I'm good with that. But what I could not handle was the ashtray / Rancid cooking oil smell that literally hit me in the face BEFORE I opened the front door. And after I opened the front door and walked in, the smell was even worse. The bar stools were full and the tables had a few spaces, but the overall smell coupled with the general look of the place just was not pleasant at all. I walked through the place, past the open kitchen where food was open to anyone wanting to take it, spit in it, walk away with it.... you get the idea..... out to the deck, where it honestly looks like an OSHA VIOLATION waiting to happen, with rotten floor boards and leaning railing. I stood there long enough to take a photo of the view, looked around and decided this was not the place I wanted to stay. I walked back out, mind you I was never approached by any staff member, went back to my car and left, never to return. I was truly hopeful that in the area this restaurant is, and I use restaurant cautiously, it would be a great alternative to being in Mooresville. But between the lack of parking, the fact some of the parking lot was washed away due to the rains, the rancid smell of old oil and cigarettes and the lack of upkeep..... I cannot in good conscience recommend this place for food. A perfect location but you need to bulldoze the building and start over. read more

Stopped in this cool locals waterfront bar and grill while in the area recently to grab some lunch on a windy afternoon. We were greeted walking in the door, and told to sit where we liked. After walking outside and seeing how windy it was, we grabbed a table inside. One of the ladies brought us a couple menus and took our drink order. After giving the menu a look, I saw my groove for that afternoon. Cold draft and two all angus beef chili dogs with tots. Served in a basket. The draft was cold, the chili dogs cooked well and the tots golden brown. They dogs could have used more chili but they hit the spot. The food was good. I got the steak Philly and my husband got the chef salad. The sandwich could have used a bit more cheese but was good. The salad was very meaty with a good amount of veggies too. My wife Susan volunteered to take me out for lunch today and suggested Waterman's in Cornelius. Went a short time ago so wanted to try something else. Last time we went to The Landings off of Slanting Bridge Road, our server told us the new owners, they were planning on closing in November for a much-needed remodel. My wife called yesterday, and no one answered the phone. I tried myself yesterday afternoon and got the same thing. Checked the website and it said they would be closed from Oct 17 to November 30 and it was now December 2. Posted an inquiry on a Face Book page devoted to food in the Lake Norman Area and someone posted that this sign out front now said reopening Dec 9. A number of folks responded to the inquiry with suggestions of places to try. The vast majority were for very good restaurants that I had dined at over the years. One was for Waterside Bar and Grill which I have never dined at but have driving by many times and on several occasions, went to the North End of Lake Norman on my boat and motored right past it. Crowded in the Summer months and looked more like a bar than a restaurant. The woman who recommended this restaurant indicated they had the best Cheesesteaks in the Lake Norman area. They open at 11:00 am so we left the house around 10:45 for what was supposed to be a 30-minute drive from Denver. Turned out to be a bit more because I missed a turn in the rains and ended up doing a 10 minute detour. Got there about 11:30 and were told to sit where we wanted. My wife wanted on of the high tops in from of the bar so that she could watch the World Cup and one of the big screens. The hostess presented us with the menus, and I must say, the menu is very extensive. My wife has gotten into a Chocolate Martini routine so guess what she ordered. A Chocolate Martini is a bit out of the ordinary and I was surprised when our server said, "no problem". Last week in Kennesaw GA, my wife ordered one at Marlow's Tavern and it was a disaster. I had my normal unsweetened Iced Tea with Lemon. At first, we were not going to have an appetizer but changes our mind and ordered the fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks with Marina for dipping. Very good and great portion size. Most places on the Lake, you're lucky to get 5 cheese stick and here we had 9. My wife as predicted ordered the Philly Cheese Steak and Macaroni and White Cheddar Cheese. She loved it, particularly the Macaroni and White Cheddar Cheese, I ordered the French Dip with a side of homemade Potato Chips. I messed up on this order because I forgot that you could get it with Creamy Horseradish but you have to ask for it and note you will be charged a small bit more for it. Even without the Horseradish Sauce, the sandwich was delicious. Piled high with juicy Roast Beef and a great au jux. More than ample serving size. The Potato Chips were a different story in terms of uniformity. Most of the chips were uniformly cooked nice and crisp but more than a few were undercooked and very limp. The inside of the restaurant/bar is more of a dive bar experience but in a good sort of way. Food is excellent and the place is very clean and well maintained. Bathrooms are spotless but my wife wonders why there are two unisex bathrooms next to each other as opposed to one men's and one women's bathroom. The backside of the restaurant hosts a large outside dining area overlooking the upper end of Lake Norman and lead down to the Marina. When the weather improves, I can see a number of great lunches here just looking out at the beautiful lake. Very relaxing. read more

Hey Sherrills Ford here's your fun spot. Friday night live music, good bar food, and nice beer selection. It looks like they are expanding their dock space too so plenty of room for boaters to come on in. 3 stars just because of interior is worn out and food was ok. Here's my three things: 1) Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Had a great feel of neighborhood joint. Lots of first names being thrown around. 2) This place is probably ascending as there is a lot of new wood decking and additions being done. This is our first time ordering from here.... But let me tell you I regret not ordering before! The young lady on the phone was so friendly .:. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and hubby ordered the Philly without the peppers and onion rings. The homemade chips even with take out were AWESOME! Still crispy when we got them home. Best homemade fries I ever had. The onion rings were equally crispy and so good. I am so glad we ordered because we absolutely will be back! Cool waterside bar and grill on Lake Norman on the Catawba side of Buffalo Shoals Road/Hudson Chapel Road. Good food, service and a great setting. The prices are reasonable and the food selection is much larger than expected. The setting is definitely one of the features of the business. It sits right on lake Norman and has about 12 boat slips and looks very recent construction. In a few weeks the place will be looking really good in terms of between the boat slips and the stairway to the restaurant. I would highly recommend this a great motorcycling, boating, or driving destination. read more

My wife and I stayed in Statesville and looked for a place to have dinner for our one night there. We found the Waterside Bar and Grill online - only a 20 minute drive from where we were staying. We sat on the deck overlooking the water. The food was amazing. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with homemade chips, and my wife had the cheeseburger. We also had chips and salsa for an appetizer. Everything was amazing. The two ladies who were serving everyone on the deck worked in tandem, so we were constantly checked on and asked if we needed anything. Both of them were extremely nice. My friend and I just went there today to enjoy some music from A Southern band. The music was amazing. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the view of the lake while we enjoy our food and music. The staff found us a seat outside even though it was very crowded today due to the band being there and waited on us promptly in spite of the big crowd. The waitress and whole staff were very friendly and efficient. Everybody worked together to bring us drinks and get our food to us in a timely manner. We had a few dishes to snack on while we listened. The best things I tried were the fried mushrooms. They are served with a homemade ranch dressing and they are out of this world good. I ate way too many of them. I ordered the two taco dinner and while the tacos were good, it was just very plain and not something I'd ever get again. The salsa was indeed homemade as promised but it lacked real flavor. My friend got the hot wings, which were promised to be some of the best on the lake. She says they really delivered. They looked delicious; very saucy but fried hard and not gummy. I will definitely get those on my next visit. If you are looking for a very casual, laid-back restaurant with a view of the lake and outdoor seating you could do way worse than this place. It's kind of tucked back in the middle of nowhere which really appeals to me. I do know that they get very busy on the weekends and I noticed that a lot of bikers like to go there. Okay, I get it. But, 30 minutes for our first beer? 45 minutes to get our appetizer, after asking twice. One hour to get our food. My previous review still stands, this is bar food and expensive at that....... Straight from the freezer to fryer. We sat outside on the deck, the awesome smell on cigarettes combined with the stagnant air was just awesome. When the new owners took over, I had high hopes. Hidden gem located at the North end of LKN! Newly remodeled interior is great and plans to expand the deck and outdoor seating areas. More dock slips and things in the works. Menu is simple and allows build your own burgers and dogs which is perfect. Both were excellent!! Great beer cheese. The fried pickles and mushrooms were awesome but I was too hungry to take a pic! $1.00 wings with a great sauce selection. Made fresh so be patient, it's worth the wait! Tender and crispy. The food is always awesome. They have fried banana peppers that are so good they're addicting. Get them with horseradish sauce. The Mahi tacos are also a must. They have several sauces for wings.
