With high gas prices and stocking issues, being able to order goods and services on-line is essential. Being able to work from home is becoming the norm. But if your computer has a mind of its own, expensive "fixes" that often don't work (or that you don't understand) can be a non-starter. I am writing to introduce Abhishek Goel, my 'secret weapon' in dealing with computer issues. I told a friend on the UCLA faculty that I was having computer problems and she immediately gave me Abhishek's phone number. The rest is history. He responded right away, he was able to come to my office and look at the problem and HE FIXED IT! On the spot. And explained what he had done. Cracked her laptop open ourselves and removed most of the screws from the battery to try and take it out, but there were two that we could not get out so we caved and took it in to the shop. The person at the front was able to remove them immediately and very easily, and walked us through all of the possible outcomes for the laptop. The laptop was fine when dried in-store for a few days, though the price for it to just sit there by a fan was higher than I would have liked. I also wish they had been a little more communicative, we had to call more than once just to get updates. Overall, they were knowledgeable and it got fixed, so I would return in the event of another mishap.
