The food, atmosphere and the Craic are why I'm here to suggest you pop in. Our friends live in the area and recommended it due to the ownership being quite well aquatinted with them and most importantly to us, the fresh fish coming in daily from Jack the local fisherman (family to owner too I believe). I had an amazing seafood gratin that was overflowing with mussels, salmon, prawns, calamari...with crustini breads for garnish and dipping. For my side, I ordered a lovely fresh salad and the greens were so crisp! White wine Sauvignon Blanc (I'm a NZ fan) went perfect with it all. I highly recommend coming in for a meal at least. The menu is fabulous and offers something for everyone. Call ahead for a table too. It's the proper thing to do and the place is bound to be packed for lunch and dinner.

It was our second…read morebargain two night hotel break in Donegal, having travelled to here from Annagry and having spent three weeks in France shortly before we made it to Donegal. The hotel has limited wifi, which worked well around reception but we couldn't get it to work in the restaurant or breakfast rooms. It didn't work in our room. There are a number of brochures available in the reception promoting various attractions including the nearby Finntown railway, which runs along the edge of a huge brown trout lake in the shadow of a mountain and was fascinating. This entire county has to be one of the friendliest places on earth. No matter where we went, shopped, ate, toured and wandered around everyone was just so warm, friendly and welcoming. This hotel was no different; open friendly hard working people. The hotel was comfortable with our room a decent size, good decor, a double & single bed and a large bathroom. There was a flat screen tv on the wall. The food we had (haddock & chips €10) and prawn cocktail (€8) and night two we both had steak special) was all very good, fairly priced, the stout was excellent and the white wine served icily crisp. It was hectically busy in the restaurant especially on the Thursday night of our stay, mainly due to their sirloin steak special, €15 for a ten ounce steak, French fried onions, chips, peas and a pepper sauce. A few musicians also perform on Thursday nights. I'm sure the hard working staff are exhausted at the end of the night. We were tired just watching them. Parking is very limited at the front of the hotel and while there's a car park at the rear of the hotel there's no access from the car park. Breakfast was fine, the porridge superb followed by an Irish brekky fry of fried egg, pork sausage, bacon, black & white pudding and tomato. But we do restrict our intake of this sort of food. It's not just this hotel it's common in hotels to find cheap meats; cheap eggs, plastic skinned, fatty, salty sausage, fatty, salty, white pudding, cheap bacon and awful powdered coffee in hotels from one to five star. I'd prefer if hotels would use their buying power to purchase natural skinned meats, and better quality ingredients with a bit less fat and a bit less salt. I'd like to see the days of powdered coffee coming to a close - real coffee is so much better. We would return here.

You can help yourself to a broad selection at breakfast and come the evening they offer a wide choice to choose from too. If you like live music, they often have big bands playing in the ballroom, mostly at the weekends but they also run special events at different times of the year. In the front bar they have smaller 1 or 2 piece bands to entertain. They have wifi now installed all over the hotel which is a great addition for people travelling who want to check emails / facebook etc.

We started with a bottle of 3 Wooly Sheep New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wine that was excellent. Next was the special of the day seafood casserole. After dinner, I enjoyed an Irish whiskey and my wife had an Irish coffee. We could tell the seafood casserole was professionally prepared. It had shrimp, salmon and a white fish like haddock in a white sauce. All of is was covered with a layer of mashed potatoes. On the side was broccoli, carrots, rutabaga and Brussel sprouts. There was a lot of food and it tasted great. We will return to this restaurant again when we are back in the area.

Our room was air conditioned ( not all in Ireland are) and we were served well by the bartender in the evening and for breakfast. Our Superior Double Room had a beautiful and comfortable king-sized bed that was stylish and sophisticated. We enjoyed the amenities, such as the walk-in shower and the castiron tub that my wife and I loved immensely. They had complimentary WiFi and robes and slippers for us to wear in the morning and at night that was quite comfortable. The restaurant on the lobby floor provided us with delicious eats for breakfast and dinner, with refreshing and tasty cocktails, all in a stylish and contemporary interior that was our speed. The hotel is close to everything for site seeing and visiting attractions. There are tons of restaurants and bars within walking distance to enjoy. And if you want to stay indoors for the night, you have the restaurant and bar or speakeasy that's on-site. There are shopping centers everywhere, including one next store if you need to pick up some clothes, souvenirs, or just want to take a gander through.
