Absolutely incredible. I had to be shown here by someone else, otherwise it would have taken awhile to find it. But it's breathtaking. A tiny waterfall surrounded by a dense little garden. With plenty of chairs and tables to relax in. And tons of nice places to grab a bit to eat and enjoy your meal in a beautiful surrounding. I hear it does get a little crowded at lunch but on the weekends it's empty. What a unique thing to find in the middle of a city. read more

So pretty! We had finished the Underground Tour and I looked for other things around the area to do and found this Waterfall Garden. It's a small and quiet sanctuary and something that would have originally been off my radar. I enjoy finding little gems like this while visiting cities. It wasn't crowded and was shaded. Since it was warm that day it was an excellent stop to get out of the heat and relax for a little. If I were a local or lived in the area it would be a great place to bring a book and read for a few hours. read more

One minute you are walking in the heart of downtown Seattle; the next you are listening to the sound of water cascading over boulders. Not only is it located in a unique spot, but the Waterfall Garden is a great place to enjoy lunch or meet with friends for coffee. I will say, I expected it to be larger. In my head, I had pictured four or five small hidden waterfalls scattered in a park of green grass and trees. It definitely was not that. It is a modest garden with a couple smaller waterfall structures that compliment the main waterfall. Yet, my expectations were not let down. The Waterfall Garden is still very tranquil and a great spot to stop to relax. After all, it is beautiful, conveniently located, and free! Cons: -Slight smell of the sewer at times -Gnats. It's the summer though; it's just that time of the season! read more

A gorgeous oasis in the middle of the city!

This place seemed like a pretty random locale in Pioneer square to have this gated waterfall area. But it was still cool nonetheless.

This a really unique oasis downtown in the midst of Pioneer Square. It is very easy to get absorbed in this serene setting. The area is pretty closed in, so you can't see the city, but instead can sit in peace at the foot of a small but majestic waterfall. I think the many photos posted in the other reviews capture the look, but not the feel. It is kind of a small area in general, but worth a visit to sit and relax and snap a couple photos. read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Seattle, it's a tiny gem in the middle of the concrete jungle and a great place to sit and enjoy your lunch from one of the nearby restaurants...perhaps Salumi ;) Seriously, it's a waterfall in the middle of the city! What's not to love? read more

You know that a place is really unique and wonderful when you think of it fondly almost a year later. When I made my first voyage to the Pacific Northwest in September 2009, I had no plans for "must see" spots. Ever the curious traveler, with my hubby and friends working, I borrowed a bus pass and trod through the city to see what I could. I love architecture and historical spots to I headed to the Pioneer Square area of town. After "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing, snapping pictures of the oldest spots in town and walking my legs 'til they were sore, I needed a place to relax. I spotted a plaque for the Waterfall Garden after hearing the sounds of a large fountain. I was in love from the moment I walked under the arbor. There were several tables with chairs around the garden, as well as benches, with walkways that take you as close to the waterfall as you dare. On a warm late summer afternoon, the sounds and cool humidity of the Waterfall Garden just hit the spot. If I hadn't had to catch up with friends soon after I would have stayed much longer. Next time I'm in Seattle I will bring a picnic and a book. :) read more

Secret mecca in the city, truly the finest place to have brown bag or takeout lunch in Seattle. I also try to have meetings here on occasion, anything to get out of an office setting is AOK with me. I love that such a tiny, perfect square of beauty exists amongst the harshness of the surrounding area. To that end: yes, Waterfall Garden is in a terrible part of town. The entirety of Pioneer Square is the terrible part of town. Probably not the place for you if you can't handle hopscotching over a couple of unconscious people/rivers of bum pee to get there. Oh, and wireless is always totally stealable here. Shhhh... read more

Yes, just follow your ears to the Waterfall Garden! You might not be able to see where it is, but just listen. It's tucked away in a nondescript building enclosure, and it's fun sight to behold. Too bad the weather wasn't nicer, or else I could totally see myself sitting at one of the little tables, resting to the watery sounds. I don't think you need to go out of your way to see the Waterfall Garden, but if you're in the area, take a quick couple minutes and stop by. It's unexpected! read more

What's not to like? It's free and gorgeous to sit within. Despite this being located within the busy blocks of Seattle, once you walk through those metal gates, all you'll hear is the whooshing sound of the waterfall. To the left you'll see archway of leaves. and the main gate will have a security guard posted. There are tables to chit chat with friends-- I highly suggest grabbing local neighborhood food to-go and sitting down to step away from the hustle and bustle of the street sounds and be one with nature. read more

Very relaxing little park. Visited from San Diego while we waited for our flight home. Nice place to have lunch.

Manmade waterfalls are cheesy, but, whatever. I can appreciate the atmosphere they have tried to build in this corner lot. I've seen this place listed online as one of the places to visit when in Seattle, but never really knew where it was... until the temporary bus tunnel closure, when the last stop of the 71, 72, and 73 were moved about 4+ blocks away from the original spot. I was actually a bit disappointed when I first saw it (because, y'know, it was a rock wall against other buildings), but I have reconciled myself with the fact that it is man made... and in the city. Surrounded by a wooden wall and assorted greenery, you can pretty much shut out the outside world, as the rush of water takes over most of the sound. There are some patio tables and chairs to sit on, flowers, and a couple of sculptured fountains to add to the big rock-wall fountain. It may also be a good place to take pictures, though I wouldn't recommend wedding pics here, folks. There is no guard rail - you should have better sense than to fall in to that shallow pool... and the ground close to prime photographing area is wet and may be slippery. I think it's a fine stroll and stop area, but I don't really think it's a must-get-out-of-your-way-to-check-it-out type of place in Seattle. When you have time and everywhere to wander, it's a good place to rest... A good place to close your eyes and just listen to rushing water. I wouldn't sleep here, though (Dude, you're in Pioneer Square.) read more

This is a little hidden gem. Saw it by accident as we were walking and I'm glad we did. Got to take great pictures.

I scurried on by this hidden jewel a few yrs back on my way to someplace. I was in awe that there was this little place with a waterfall in the ghetto part of downtown, I haven't been able to get back into there because they close at sunset which sucks. It's really cute, and I always tell myself one of these days when I'm free I'm gonna go have lunch there, if only I had some loser to come with.... read more

Fantastic place to get away from work or the expected. Waterfalls in the middle of the city, who doesn't love that. When I visited there were some tourists who (I am glad to report) had adventured out that way. They asked me me and walking buddy (shout out Priscilla) to take a picture. It was nice. A really good place for a photo and a good place to see yet another, different side of Seattle. Someday we all should eat Yelp lunch there... it would be such a treat. read more

Centrally located in Pioneer Square nearby major streets and other iconic landmarks like Gold rush Museum. Features vast green open space juxtaposed the hustle and bustle of the surrounding area. What a tranquil and serene place to visit. There are plethora of shops and restaurants nearby so grab a snack or coffee and enjoy a relaxing and meditative time at the Waterfall Garden. This is truly a hidden both from tourists and also locals alike. Nonetheless, potentially it can be highly trafficked. There are ample seats, chairs and benches. This is a very casual and Zen-type ambience. The water has a very funny smell and to avoid keep your distance and stay away from being water-splashed. read more

A clean, safe, sanctuary right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Seattle? Can it be? Its free and has little 2-person chairs & tables scattered around so feel free to bring a friend and catch up over a coffee or lunch. Its not too busy there ever and the waterfall sounds are a nice relief from the car and city noises. Its very shaded by trees and the adjacent high-rises. Not sure what the summer hours are but the winter hours are 8am - 3:45pm. I'm not the type of person to describe something as cute, but this park/garden can aptly be described as, "cute!" read more

Looking for a quiet, peaceful oasis to mow down the sandwich from Salumi that you just bought? Come here to the Waterfall Garden, settle down, and relax. It's semi-covered with lots of plants and trees . . . and, of course, the waterfall. It has a fair number of tables and chairs, on two different levels, so you can lounge about and eat comfortably. Yes, there are homeless folks here but they were totally harmless and stuck to themselves. There was also a security guard watching over things so no need for you tourists to feel unsafe. read more

A quaint spot in Pioneer Square that whisks you away from the city. The waterfall itself is fairly small and loud though so it's not an ideal place to chat or eat lunch. For some reason there's also an abundance of gnats and small flies that are distracting. read more

A peaceful respite-- Forget about the city. Watch the water fall. That's my haiku. All in all Waterfall Garden is nice. It's a surprising touch, tucked away in a corner of Pioneer Square. Peek inside, sit down on one of the benches or at a table and listen to the water. You can't hear much else. It's like having some kind of sonic shower that cleanses your auditory soul. great little place to get away from the busy streets of seattle. big waterfall and little scattered tables surrounding that waterfall. there's a small garden that surrounds the waterfall .. which i think is actually a memorial for the postal servicemen / women. really close by to salumi's artisan cafe too... and open around the same time as salumi's ... take your eats there and enjoy a relaxing meal ... note.. i wouldn't make a special trip just to see this place... it's small and intimate and so probably not as awe -inspiring as you might.... friends brought me here cuz we happened to be close by. read more

Yaaaaay. When I was in pre-school, we came here during a field trip and ate our lunches. We took the bus from Redmond (where I grew up, sweet), it was the first time I ever took the bus. I can't remember what else we did on that field trip, but I'm pretty sure the Waterfall Garden wasn't my teachers' sole reason for herding eighteen 4 year olds onto a bus for a 30 minute ride into the city. No matter what the real reason was, it is overshadowed in my memory by the Waterfall Garden. read more
