I'm a bit of a hippie - I get a haircut when I have a reason to...not every six weeks or whatever. This hasn't fazed Jackie either time I've been there, even though it's probably more work for her. In fact when I was looking for inspo looks last night, I realized the best was the photo of the last haircut she gave me a year ago! In which she asked what I wanted, considered how I could best achieve that given my style-at-home habits (nonexistent, btw) and made me feel comfortable and confident deferring to her expert opinion. I also appreciate how she doesn't try to sell me on products. She suggests, but I genuinely believe it comes from a good place - example, I told her I was into all-natural stuff, like my botched coconut oil experiment, and she didn't poo-poo it. I asked her for some guidance on products and she showed me some of the natural lines the salon carries but it was no pressure, she genuinely wanted to help. I swear if I ever get recommended a Japanese hair gloss again for my already fine hair I'm swearing off hair salons forever...luckily I won't have to because Jackie would never do that! Restoring my faith in salons lol Allure is so affordable too...$44 for a wash, cut, and style (*tip your stylist). I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure you can't beat that! I walked in feeling and looking like a washed up dollar bill...and left feeling like a million bucks! Not just from the cut, but from Jackie's energy. Very pure and uplifting. Straight,…read moreblunt cut, originally chin level when I lopped off a ponytail for one of those donation sites, it had grown out to my shoulders and because my hair has a lot of natural body and some wave and curl to it, I was getting a very triangular shape. I had no idea what to do with it, other than grow it out again, but I was tired of that cycle, too, since I've done it several times in the past decade. It's also going pretty grey in spots and I'm not sure another 'tail would work for those wig organizations because of that. I needed someone to just make a decision about my hair and cut it. I didn't care what the results were, what the style was, anything at all. I just needed something different. My husband half-jokingly suggested I take his clippers, buy some gel and go for the Annie Lennox look and I was actually OK with that. Christina took on the challenge. She chose a layered look that is both blowdryer and product-optional (YAY!). It's fabulous, super easy to take care of and suits me well! The inside is definitely a lot nicer and something you wouldn't expect from seeing the outside for sure. I'm pretty picky when it comes to hair, but what girl isn't. Carmen was awesome. She thoroughly explained every step she made and did suggestions on hair products that i could get to maintain my hair. She definitely lightened my hair as much as possible without destroying it. My hair is literally black by the way, so to go blonde as she did without completely destroying it in one sitting is impressive. Goal is eventually a grey color but had to go blonde first, the balayage she did looks amazing. Honestly if I wasn't planning on going grey for the winter I would be so happy keeping my balayage as is. Honestly I don't think pricing was that bad, I personally think that it's reasonable for what she did. Balayage prices start at 65 but honestly I've paid more and it doesn't come out as great.
