A couple of days before Christmas I went in for a color & cut. Four hours later I walked out in tears with over processed hair. On my phone, I showed my stylist a picture of what I wanted my hair to resemble and she got to work doing exactly what I had specifically NOT asked for when I booked my appointment--foils because I don't maintain them. But, trusting her (because I had been going to her for over a year) I kept my mouth shut -- she's the professional, right? So after sitting under the roller ball for nearly 30 minutes, she determined my hair was ready and had another woman shampoo me out, which is where my first red flag flew -- my hair was yellow. I wasn't too alarmed because I knew that toner still had to be put on my hair. So in comes the toner and then another shampoo. My hair turned pink and purple--I looked like a unicorn on my roots with platinum blonde hair and yellow streaks. So my stylists had two other people come look at my hair. One told her she didn't know how to fix it, while the other gave her some tips. More color was added to my wet hair. Again I waited. Then I was rinsed. My hair was still pink & purple so my stylist had to literally scrub my roots with the toner. It took like 30 minutes, resting my head in the sink which is very uncomfortable. During this my stylist told she had never turned anyone's hair pink & that she wasn't making excuses but it does happen and on and on. Needless to say, she could tell I was upset. So the rinse & shampoo is finished and we go to her chair for the blowout. Her first comment was "oh we're going to have to put some real good product on your hair because we lifted you so much". She started to dry my hair and it was awful. It was platinum blonde and yellow and just hideous - how could she even think this color matched my skin tone??? I began to cry and she told me she could fix it and "all we have to do is put some brown on it and it will look like it did when you came in". She said "I don't want you to look like this for Christmas." I told her that I just wanted to leave and asked her to stop drying my hair, but she kept on, ignoring me as I cried. Finally, after three times of me asking, she stopped. I told her maybe another day she could fix my hair, but that after four hours and the condition of my hair, I HAD to go to work. As I was at the counter trying to pay, the stylist came over and said "we're good, it's all good, she doesn't owe anything" and walked away, leaving me crying in the corner while I waited for my husband to pick me up. Later that afternoon I called to speak with someone about having my hair corrected and they booked me an appointment with Todd, an owner, the next day at 3p. I went in the next day for him to look at my hair and he told me there was nothing wrong with my hair and that he had seen the picture of what I wanted (how was that possible? I showed her from MY PHONE) and I got what I asked for, BUT that if I wanted my hair fixed it would cost me $150 because he "doesn't work for free" and I hadn't been charged the day before. WTH??? I didn't refuse to pay, your stylist called that off. And what kind of stylist looks at over processed hair and says "you're fine". I called my husband and he told me to leave.
The next week, I went to three other stylists with years of experience and they all said the same thing--my hair was over processed (fried) and that it needed color and protein put back into it. Long story short, my best friend is a stylist in Minneapolis and she told me exactly what to buy and where, how to apply, and I fixed it myself for $20!!!!! She was pissed when I told her about my experience with the owner, saying how some stylists are just too full of themselves to admit wrong doing.
I sincerely wish there were cameras in the salon because then Todd would have seen the picture that I showed the stylist that day which was the same pic I showed him the following day, and he would know what really happened. read more
