Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Service

We had a problem with our septic system called Roto - Rooter Johnson City and they were very quick…read moreto respond. They provided good service and fixed our problem. What really impressed me is that I was able to talk with the owner several times and he wanted to make sure that we were satisfied with their work. Thanks to Robert and his team. I recently needed an emergency plumbing repair at my rental property in Johnson City, TN. The…read moredrywall was already opened, and the problem was an accessible copper pipe with a pinhole leak. Roto-Rooter initially quoted me $800, then generously offered what felt like an insulting "discount" that brought the price down to $672. The technician completed the repair, took pictures, and prepared the invoice in approximately 50 minutes. Let that sink in. $672 for less than an hour on-site, including paperwork. Afterward, I spoke with other local plumbing contractors who indicated that a comparable repair would typically cost approximately $300-$350. Unfortunately, those contractors weren't available when I needed immediate assistance. I understand that emergency service comes at a premium. I have a background in the electrical construction industry, so I'm familiar with labor rates, overhead, materials, and what it takes to operate a contracting business. However, there's a difference between charging a reasonable premium for emergency service and pricing that feels excessive for the work performed. To make matters worse, this was the same technician I previously paid $189 to address a drain issue that was never fully resolved. Between these two visits, I've spent $861 and am left deeply dissatisfied with the value received. My advice to anyone considering Roto-Rooter: LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE. Unless your house is actively flooding and you cannot safely contain the situation, take the time to call multiple local plumbers before agreeing to their pricing. I sincerely regret not doing so. While the technician successfully repaired the pipe, I cannot recommend Roto-Rooter based on my experience. Prompt service is valuable, but it does not automatically justify any price a company chooses to charge. To Roto-Rooter management: You're welcome to contact me directly to discuss these charges and whether a reasonable price adjustment is warranted. I'd appreciate an opportunity to resolve my dissatisfaction. Until then, I'll be sharing my experience so other homeowners and landlords can make informed decisions before spending their hard-earned money. One expensive lesson learned. I will not be using Roto-Rooter again.

Found a leak from the main floor dripping from the ceiling of the finished basement on a Saturday…read moreafter 4:30 pm. Contacted my regular plumber (not Cox) and found out he was out of town on vacation. Finally called Cox after 5 pm. Was pleasantly surprised when he answered the phone. He had other jobs already scheduled but was able to come by on Sunday afternoon. (I had shut off everything I could think of so the leak had stopped. Was afraid it was the toilet by the kitchen.) He was able to arrive an hour earlier than he expected which was great. Long store short... he was able to diagnose the actual problem (wasn't the toilet) and the issue was resolved. Very professional, very knowledgeable, very personable. Nice guy and the cost was actually less than I expected for an emergency weekend plumbing call. Hope I never need a plumber again but I would definitely use Cox Plumbing again.
