Dishonest and unwilling to work with RI Housing Septic.   I communicated from the beginning with…read moreboth Mike and Cathy that I needed to use the RI Housing Septic Loan for this project. I was never told they don't work with them.   See the attached emails pictures for yourself.   After these emails Mike called me twice with in 4 hours to discuss the situation. The first time we discussed things and I asked him if he read the emails, he did not.  He said he was going into the office and would read them and get back to me.  The  follow-up resulted in him explaining the office procedure and that they know that they don't get paid till the project is done.   I asked if he read the emails.  He still hadn't read them.   Perhaps now he will read them.  In the emails Cathy never acknowledged that they don't get paid till the end.  She wanted me to sign a contract that I would pay half up front.   I'm not signing a contract requires money upfront when I told them I need the loan.   On July 10th, I asked for the $500 invoice.   On July 12th I received the invoice and I was asked several times for the $500 all in the same day by Mike.   I told him to at least give me 24 hours to get the check out and hung up on him.       If you have the cash in hand they might be great for you.  If you need to utilize a RI Housing Septic Loan, don't waste your time with them.

Hi, I would like to share my experience with Rhode Island Septic Design and Installations aka Rhode…read moreIsland Septic Services. In December, we reached out for a proposal for a new septic system. There was a lot of back and forth about the size of the tank we should use because our house has 4 bedrooms if you include the basement, but the two basement rooms are not used as bedrooms and are unlikely to be used as bedrooms in the future because of their location. Mike Sliney (owner) gave us conflicting information multiple times about what was required. He stated that the tank needing to be large enough for 4 bedrooms. He also stated that it had to be 3 bedroom to match our tax card. So we understand there's a discrepancy. We asked if we could just do a 3-bed system because we have no intention of using those basement rooms as bedrooms and he said we'd have trouble selling the house later (I believe he meant if the next owner wanted those rooms to function as bedrooms.) All logical so far. But then he stated that if we did a 4 bedroom we'd have to build an addition to justify the larger tank (WHAT?!?!) and the confusing and inconsistent information continued. We ended up getting a second opinion because we struggled so much to get a straight answer. The second opinion was MUCH cheaper and they suggested that the system Mike proposed was a poor option because the drainage went uphill and pumps need to be replaced frequently and we had enough low ground not to need that. During all of this, Mike rarely spoke to me (the homeowner) and insisted on speaking to my partner (not the homeowner) so he either has a problem with me or women in general. I would ask him a question and he would literally turn and respond to my partner... Um, hello?? So we end up going with another company but they had already dug the test hole so we still owed for that. No issues there, they did a service, we pay for it. I asked for them to please send the DEM paperwork for the test hole and they refused to send until after payment was received. This back and forth took so much time that they actually charged me another $78 in interest even though I was waiting for them to send me the paperwork. There's no due date on the invoice so I considered fighting this, but not really worth it for under $100. Overall, I experienced: - Disrespect and perceived misogyny - Inconsistent and confusing requirements - Recommendations for a more expensive system - Additional fees in the form of interest when I was waiting for documentation I generally make a point to write positive reviews and avoid negative ones because I feel like there are a lot more negative ones out there and I really want to reward good interactions when I have them, but I'm making an exception here because my experience was so poor that I think it's important I warn others.

Recently, I had the main septic pipe between my house and septic tank get clogged. Upon…read moreinvestigation, it was determined that my excavator had deposited many large rocks directly above the pipe when he back filled my foundation (my house is only three years old), and the weight of those rocks caused the pipe to become narrowed and pitched in the wrong direction. I hired Paul Mumford to do the repair for me. Today, at 7:30am, he and his nephew arrived at my home to do the repair. I was present for the entire job. The repair took all of four hours and I can't adequately express my gratitude to Paul for an exceptional job. Both workers were professional and extremely respectful of my property. I was concerned that their digging machine was going to make ruts in my rain-soaked lawn. Paul used special mats which were placed below the tracks of the machine. There was absolutely no damage at all to my property. When they left, there was zero evidence that they were even there. They used the highest quality materials (e.g. schedule 40 pipe instead of the cheaper schedule 35 used my my excavator) and their workmanship was impeccable. After initially speaking with Paul for just five minutes, it was abundantly evident that he is a master at his craft. Tell-tale signs of his excellence were witnessed during the entire job (e.g. his use of a transit instead of a common level to assess the pitch of the drain line). The job was done as if it were Paul's own property - total respect was afforded. This company is an establishment of integrity and professionalism. Upon needing any further service, I will not look any further that Mumford Services and it would be wise for you to do the same.
