I write this review to give fair warning to future customers. We used Medows CPA for three years…read more It was a very up and down experience. Over the past three years, Medows put more preparation burden on his customers (requiring completion of lengthy, convoluted forms which I've never had to prepare for a tax PREPARER before), while complaining that our taxes took a long time to complete. We had to check their work for errors. We learned to expect inaccurate answers and incomplete research when we did have questions - and often completed the research ourselves. He was very helpful when we had a shift in our income/expenditure situation three years ago. Hence two stars. But then our taxes got very simple for two years in a row. A few months ago, I asked for an itemized bill for last year's expenses and/or a fair estimate for this year's work. I was told we were too much work, and it wasn't worth his time to retain us as customers - no answer, no transparency. This is probably par for the course in tax preparation, and there's nothing particularly bad about this service. But there's nothing particularly good either. We'll spend as much time preparing our own taxes this year as we did preparing and checking Medows' work last year, and we'll save $335. For even mildly intrepid souls, I recommend using a tax accountant only when you have a big change in financial circumstances, and in between just use TaxAct.com and a couple of calls to the IRS. It's really not that hard.

Jonathan was very responsive at first, but the minute we paid over $1,000 to hire him and he…read morereceived the money, getting any response from him was nearly impossible. We ultimately told him we wanted our money back because he hadn't provided any service, didn't answer any communication and didn't file our taxes, he originally agreed but offered one call. Jonathan was late for our call which lasted only 5 minutes during which he only confirmed that the research we did (since he wasn't answering our questions before) was accurate. We were still not satisfied as no advice of any kind was provided, only an excel spreadsheet that looks likes a bad version of TurboTax from 2 decades ago, Jonathan then changed his mind and offered to reimburse only 50% of our payment knowing that no service was still provided at this time other than 5 minutes over the phone to confirm a couple of accounting points we already researched for. He obviously stopped responding and we had to dispute the charge. Long story short: a dishonest thief

Tax expertise at its best! Back in 2025, I desperately needed to find a certified public accountant…read more(CPA) to handle my taxes. I had a sensitive and unique issue that could only be addressed by a CPA. But not just any CPA, I needed someone that was knowledgeable and would be able to defend their work in case of an audit. After searching around, I came across Ahad & Co and what a relief and blessing they are. I simply called them, explained my issue, then I was connected with one of their professionals. The CPA confirmed that it was something they could tackle and we began the process. At the time, I was working with Tarikur, an absolute treasure to work with! He explained what needed to be done, asked all pertinent questions, and guided me thru the process. In the end, I came back with an awesome refund, and greater than that, I had a peace of mind with regard to my situation. Fast forward to 2026, I did not hesitate to have them prepare my taxes again. Unfortunately, Tarikur is no longer there, but I was assisted by Akram. There were some delays but he completed my taxes before the deadline and his did a great job preparing everything. I found it very easy to review my return and understand his rationale for his preparation. Furthermore, I received a great return again and I could not be more pleased! Aside from my experience with the staff, I really appreciate their customer portal. There is no need to email anything because you can upload all of your documents to their secure portal. You can also chat with your rep, pay your invoices, and download your returns, all in one place. I especially appreciated that as a returning customer, all my documents were there, so Akram was able to see what was done last year. Super efficient! In terms of pricing, they will seem high if you are used to doing your own taxes or maybe you've gone to a local tax preparer. However, it's important to understand that these are true tax experts who can navigate any situation, so you're in good hands. If you are dealing with a sensitive tax situation and want a peace of mind, I highly recommend using them. I will definitely be returning in the future, even if I do not have a sensitive situation, as I truly appreciate their service. Thank you Ahad & Co.!

I filed on the deadline last year and ahad&co, cpa literally…read morenever filed my taxes. Just didn't file them at all. I reached out to them months later inquiring about the filing for another matter and they casually informed me they never filed them. They offered plenty of excuses, blamed me for filing them within the legal submission parameters (i.e. on/by April 15th), and offered zero compensation for their egregious error. They actually proceeded to charge me the full amount to file and even expected me to pay the late-filing & extension fees that I incurred as a direct and sole result of an accounting firm's inability to file taxes! Every single representative I have dealt with is allergic to accountability and deals exclusively in excuses. Shameful and unprofessional behavior all around... especially from Edderkys Gonzalez and the ceo, Ahad Ali. He is full of excuses all while admitting they screwed up. They offered $100 off of preparation service for this year...I immediately declined. Then they offered $200 off and I immediately declined. That is a fraction of what they cost me already from last year in late penalties alone and the ceo told me the absolute most he could discount tax preparation at his own company was $200. Clearly a lie. He's the ceo of a small, private, company...not the ceo of Goldman Sachs.

Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and concerning. During the pre-engagement period, Sandy was responsive and helpful. However, after I signed the engagement letter, key components of the originally discussed scope were omitted without adequate clarification. I take responsibility for not catching this in the final agreement--lesson learned. In a rush to get things done, I agreed to additional charges to complete my 2024 financials. Immediately after providing my payment information, my card was charged more than we discussed. While frustrating, I allowed it, hoping to get my tax returns completed without further issues. Over the next two months, I received little to no progress updates. Instead, I was asked for even more money, despite our flat-fee agreement. At one point, I received a generic email stating that my tax return extension was filed--but I never received confirmation or a copy, which is standard practice with every other CPA I've worked with. When I finally pressed for clarification, I was ignored for several days. Eventually, I was sent a letter explaining that the IRS had rejected my Form 7004 extension due to a software issue, and that a paper submission had supposedly been mailed. This was never communicated to me at the time it happened. By this point, I had also discovered that no bookkeeping work had been completed--despite already being paid for. I made the decision to terminate the relationship. As of today, I have not received any completed bookkeeping work. The only thing I received was a partially prepared tax return that I would never file, as I genuinely believe it could risk triggering an audit. In my opinion, Canna CPAs operates with poor communication, lacks transparency, and did not deliver on the services I paid for. Proceed with caution and make sure you read every line of any engagement letter before signing.

My last straw with a declining business. This stems back to a dispute from last tax year--they did not review my return carefully, resulting in a careless error in reporting out of state income I documented and a five-month delay in getting my state refund. They were casual and non-communicative about a letter from the state with a deadline for response, to which I had to rush a reply to get a postmark to be in legal compliance. They were indifferent that a significant refund was at stake. In a previous year, a server went down and they lost all returns. Careless. Another year we had to submit additional documentation to the state as they said that their software had a glitch which affected many clients' returns. Bureaucratic and unreliable. Tony used to provide a personal touch. But it's a large bureaucratic operation, he doesn't even give a simply reply like "I'm working on this matter" when he is CC'd on an urgent matter. The receptionist tell you "it was on Tony's calendar for last week," not "Tony has taken care of this." It used to be in person annual appointments, then went to Zoom, and then became by telephone. The amount of time was reduced very year, even as fees outpaced inflation. It's overpriced, and the service and reliability are not at all what they used to be. Tony used to be a nice guy and very professional, but he's only a shadow of what he used to be.
