Are there event t-shirts for sale? Triple check! Sausage Fest is a fun all-ages event that has been around for 30 years. It is held at Gull Harbor Lutheran Church. There are two ticket 'donation' prices: One for children and one for adults. The child meal is smaller. It includes one sausage, a roll, warm potato salad, red cabbage, and a dessert. The adult meal includes knockwurst, bockwurst, and kielbasa. Tickets are available at the door or at other community vendors such as Wagner's Bakery. Parking includes the parking lot and the property behind the church. Attendants will show you where to park. When you attend Sausage Fest you should have your ticket in hand when you are ready to be seated. An attendant will take your tickets and place the order for you. You will be seated at a long 'community style' table. There is non-stop accordion and singing. Songs include The Chicken Dance, Roll Out The Barrel, Edelweiss, with some Beatles mixed in. There is a pitcher of water on the table but there is also coffee, tea, and soda available. If you don't mind paying extra you can order the specialty Sausage Fest Root Beer bottled by the Gull Harbor congregation. Honestly, the root beer is one of the reasons I attend! It's delicious and sells out quickly! Assistants are easy to spot because all of the volunteers at the event wear Sausage Fest T-shirts that have an illustration of Martin Luther on the back. If you are unable or uninterested in staying for the event, you can order your meal(s) to go. I was sick one year and had a relative pick up my order. It's a good way to go if you just want a meal without all the hubbub. I for one would rather attend if able. Nothing is better than watching the whole community get down with the Chicken Dance. This event is truly fun for all ages! Other stuff to do at Sausage Fest include buying a t-shirt containing the catchphrase "The Best of the WURST", entering in the raffles for various prizes, and of course, buying Sausage Fest Specialty Root Beer. This event is on the second Friday and Saturday of October. It's a blast and all of the proceeds go to charity. Do you think the sausage-y goodness ends on Saturday? Think again! Any unused food is for sale in bulk the following Sunday after the church service.

It used to be better but now they are limited and I feel that the area is not as fun as before. Let's talk about the festival.... The mascot is a Razor Clam! Yep, it is! Pretty funny. I actually go every year because I like when the town is booming and this seems to bring people out. Must dos are Chowder competition. You get to sample about 10 of them (2 oz little cups) and vote on your favorite one. It's fun when yours wins. There's free fritters but you only get a small piece (it's free) but it's fun seeing them make it. There's always a band playing. That's kind of fun. Booths, galore. One even had a mermaid in water once. I have seen the festival evolve. They got rid of some things but kept others and made others even better. What I do miss was the free items you would get if you visited specific stores. You would get a little booklet and if you visited one place, you'd get a magnet, if you visited another place, you'd get a key chain, another, you'd get something else. It made it fun to check out different places in the area. Again, it's worth going to and just enjoying everything... Oh, and the best part is that it takes place on a clamming day so before all this, you go clamming bright and early so it doesn't interfere with the festival. The festival even offers razor clamming lessons. I have never gone, but for those who don't have someone to teach them, it's probably worth checking out. April 2025

Long Beach, a town of less than 4,000 souls on a windswept peninsula in Southern Washington opened its doors in April of 2014 inviting seafood lovers and nature lovers to come and visit. I would say the event was a success as I heard one visitor say all the hotels in town were full. Small town, homespun hospitality. I came in thinking I would sit and listen to jazz bands. How wrong I was! The first thing I noticed was the sea of RVs. A large section of the parking area was devoted to them. I walked past the RVs to pay for my ticket at the Marcus Pavilion. I thought the Friday-only price of $40 was a bit steep. Then I saw all of the activities available. There were so many dancers! I had a chance to talk to quite a few of them during the day. It turned out many had driven across several states to attend. I did my best to remember my moves from 10 years a go. I was very relieved to learn lessons were included in the ticket price. I had a great time and will be back for 2013! It seemed like more play equipment than the last time I was here and I could see it being pretty fun with a group of kids. In fact, someone had a birthday party while we visited and that looked like a nice time. The cows, donkey, camel, sheep, and goats in the barn were super keen on some snacks. My kid was sad the pirate ship wasn't open. She did play a lot with the toys. We stayed about 2-3 hours though our initial pass was about 1 hour. Tried to wash hands a few times at portable setups, and before we left. A few groups brought lunch and ate at picnic tables!

The energy was great, staff were super friendly, parking was easy (and free!), the race felt well organized, the lines, though long, moved quickly, the shirts are cute and glow in the dark (of course), and the course was just super fun. Loved the candy land theme with gummy bears and dance party at the end - I'm more of a hip hop R&B girl, but EDM seemed fitting. lol. and loved that they also served scones there! :D :D :D. Best part: I lost my ID somewhere amidst glow sticks, suds, black light and fun... lost and found didn't have it, so I found myself retracing my steps while everyone else grabbed a beer :(..but every staff member was so friendly and helpful.... half way through the course, I miraculously decided to turn right instead of left and a police officer called over to me and asked if I was looking for someone. I told him I had lost my ID and he said oh...what's your name and birthdate? Smiled, and handed me my ID... what are the chances!? :)

The energy is amazing. The people you get to work with are amazing, the whole experience is...amazing. I was stationed at the last stretch of the run last night, the energy of all the runners when they found out it was almost over was so much fun to work with. To be the light at the end of the tunnel for these runners was exciting. After the run is done, you get to go into the pavillion & join a huge dance party. They have a live dj & fun decorations. The atmosphere is high energy!! They threw out a ton of glow Sticks & had huge balloons everywhere. Everything was glow in the dark & black lights. This 5K is one of the bests around. Sign up as a group & run with all your friends. Dress up, dress down, whatever you want! The different courses you go through make it go by quickly & you have fun every step of the way. If you've never done one, make this your first.
