please, do not go to Dr. Marshall of Cardiocare. I never leave reviews but I feel obligated to warn…read moreothers of his lack of professionalism and, for lack of a better word, cruelty. I came to see Dr. Marshall because my dad passed away suddenly in November at the age of 60 when his heart stopped for unexplained reasons. I had developed a heart murmur and skipped beats in the past few years and wanted to get checked out. Dr. Marshall ordered a heart monitor and echo imaging, and then called me with the results. He told me my heart was adding an extra beat every 100 beats on average and that I had some valve leakage. I'm not a doctor and didn't understand the significance of this so wanted to ask a few questions. Everything I asked he responded to with utter distain, and constantly tried to get off the phone. "Does that mean my heart skips a beat about every minute or two?" "No, do you not understand averages? On AVERAGE means not every 100 beats. I'm not going to sit here on the phone and explain math to you." "It was bothering me when I was exercising--does the monitor show anything there?" "No, that's just what it feels like to have your heart elevated when you exercise." (I'm 30 years old, 130 pounds, and a former D1 runner. I have no idea why he'd think I don't know what it means to exercise.) "I understand you are saying this isn't a problem but might it become a problem over time?" "It is not a problem and won't be a problem. You need to GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE." "I can tell you are frustrated with my questions. I'm really not trying to hold you hostage here--we've been on the phone for less than 10 minutes--I just want to understand what's happening with my body." "WOW. Do you understand that I am a busy CARDIOLOGIST with a million more important things to do?? 10 minutes is a VERY long time for me." "Ok, would you please just send me what we talked about so I have a record of it?" "I'll have my assistant send the tests but no, I'm not going to do a PhD thesis on your symptoms." We talked for a total of 13 minutes, the majority of which he spent berating me. I feel no closer to understanding what is happening with my body. Also, I will add that when I first came in I brought my husband with me, and Dr. Marshall was relatively polite. When it was just me though -a woman half his age - his demeanor changed completely. Correlation isn't causation, but it is worth noting.

Such comprehensive care requires timely appointments with our cardiologists and often also requires cardiac imaging studies, stress tests, lab work, and other diagnostic tools. I found Foxhall Internists on the World Bank's recommended travel clinics. I called about 7 or 8…read moreclinics, and Foxhall had the most competitive rates. The location was also very convenient for me. I was able to schedule an appointment within a few days. Parking: there's a paid parking, but there is also a lot of street parking. If you go there between school hours, it might be a little difficult to find really close street parking because some areas are limited to 15 minute parking during school hours. Appointment: They seemed very organized and on schedule....or I might have just scheduled my appointment when the office was slow. The receptionist was really nice and a pro at multi-tasking. I was impressed. The doctor I met with was really nice and friendly. They had prepared a folder with information for the country I was going to, and she walked me through all of the vaccines, pills, etc. out there and answered all of my questions...even twice, since I'm terrible at medical terminology. She didn't push any vaccines or pills on me, and she was very open with the pricing and her experience with trying to get my insurance to cover some of the shots. I highly recommend this place to others, and I'd go back....after 10 years when these vaccines start to wear off! =)

I made an appointment for immunizations/inoculations but ended up canceling. Foxhall was by far…read morethe friendliest group of people I spoke with on the phone regarding travel shots. I ended up canceling because I was able to find a location that would take my insurance for the immunizations (this is why they get 4 stars instead of 5).... I don't understand why doctors practices don't take any insurance for the shots when they take it for their main practice (even GW Hospital doesn't take insurance for travel or other immunization shots). FYI for those looking for travel inoculations: Consultation Fee: $40 (injection) typhoid: $75 Tdap (tetanus): $75 Yellow Fever: $125 No prescription fee for them to fill out a script for an anti-malaria (yes, there are some clinics out there that charge a prescrip-fee!)
