The first time I stopped by, I was new to the area and I stopped in with 3 slacks that needed to be hemmed. A pleasant young lady greeted me but seemed very confused by the process. She finally asked me my inseam and although I know my inseam, I go to a seamstress/tailor in order to be measured and have an exact fitting, not end up with a product that I could have gotten off the rack. The young lady ultimately did her best and pinned my slacks for the actual seamstress/tailor to sew. There were relatively inexpensive slacks so I was not too concerned with the outcome despite my hesitations. The next visit occurred just a few days ago. I called ahead due to my prior experience and asked if the seamstress/tailor was available; I was told that they were. I arrived 5 minutes later to meet with a very nice woman who once again asked me my inseam. I told informed her that I expected to have my slacked pinned and measured and due to her discomfort and the price of these specific slacks I decided to take my business elsewhere. Avis is literally 3 minutes from my home and it's unfortunate that I now have to drive over 30 minutes for reliable alterations. My experience seems to fall in line with the other reviews listed.

The place is dirty and the job they do is poor. I can't be more specific without being rude. Cheap prices don't make happy customers. Give up and retire. There is plenty of competition in the same town.

No stars. Do NOT use the "wash and fold" feature of this place. We were clients for a year and…read moreeverything was fine, and then they went under new management and their customer service and production absolutely tanked. We had signed up for a recurring pickup every other week. Then I started getting 2 notifications for 2 different days. I would get a text to let me know that a pickup was scheduled, then have them not show up. The manager told me I was wrong even though I sent a screenshot of the confirmation. He outright lied even though I showed him proof. And I don't know if they know what "fold" means. The past few times, we have gotten everything inside out including my husband's collared shirts, crushed together in piles. Poor quality doesn't begin to explain it. Shoddy, careless and no respect for their work. Also - the prices on the website are false. They will tell you $1.50 per pound, charge you $2.50 a pound and pretend they didn't realize it. I have asked them about that multiple times and they claim they're changing the website but they haven't . Also, they used to email receipts and that stopped in early June, I'm sure when new "management" took over. Don't take a chance with these people. Crooks.

I'd give 10 stars if I could…read more I went on a Thursday during my lunch break to get a dress altered for a wedding the following Saturday afternoon. A-1 is only 10 minutes away from my job but it's an hour away from my house, which is way too far to drive just to pick up a dress, so I really only gave them about a day and a half window to alter it. If I hadn't explained my wedding situation to Anna, she said it wouldn't have been ready until Tuesday because they get very busy due to their location in a strip mall on a busy street. Luckily, she was happy to accommodate me and she said my dress would be ready before I even got out of work on Friday. BLESS. Anna did an AMAZING job on my dress and she's so kind. The price was great too! I only paid $24, but this alteration would've easily been a $50 job elsewhere. I'm so thankful I found this gem. Thanks, Yelp!
