My daughter ended up being delivered a few weeks early. She had stopped growing inside of me and was measuring 8-9 weeks behind. Dr. Jakum was in the room when I delivered and even when she was admitted into the NICU and he could no longer be her doctor during that time, we ran into him in the hallway and he had just reviewed her chart to make sure he was pleased with the care she was receiving. My daughter is now 2.5 years old... and thriving! He is not just her pediatrician but also a mentor to me. He and his nurse Charity have the best bedside manner. I come into every appointment with a long list of questions and he is never trying to rush me out of the door.... he addresses all of my concerns as if we were having a conversation about one of his own children. My mother in law comes to most of my daughter's appointments and has told me on several occasions how amazed she is at the level of care he gives compared to her other grandchildren's pediatricians. Our children have been patients at two of the "top-rated" pediatricians as we've moved over the years--and this is the only practice where you're truly treated as a person, not just a number. If you're looking for speed and convenience, you can always go to an assembly-line pediatrician. But if you want a true care team--literally two doctors who will know your children by name, provide thoughtful and individualized treatment, and actually keep you informed--this is the place for you. When I first called, Anastasia let me know they're a smaller practice. So yes, I may wait on hold for a couple minutes while they're helping another patient--but I'll take that any day over the rushed, impersonal care we've experienced elsewhere. At the other offices, they'd order multiple bacterial infection tests based only on symptoms I described over the phone--without even seeing my children. That's not care--that's just billing insurance as quickly as possible. Sky Valley is the complete opposite. Here, they take the time to listen, assess thoughtfully, and treat your family like their own.

When I went back to the check in desk to ask what the issue was, they didn't even have my son's name correct and stated that they had the folders swapped. Mind you there were only 2 rooms with patients. This type of incompetence is not what we pay for and is completely unacceptable. There is a sign at the check in desk that states if you are 15 min late for your appointment you will need to reschedule, but they have no problem making you wait more than 15 min for a 10 min checkup. Needless to say will no longer be going to this practice.

We've been seeing Dr Giancola ever since we moved here and couldn't be more pleased. Our son is now a teen and still feels comfortable talking to Dr G. Their online parent portal, appointments and bill pay really help reduce those endless medical forms too and make everything so much easier. Office Hours are the usual and you're never kept waiting for your appointment which is especially good if you need to take your child out of school for a doctors appointment. I only learned of this when I tried to schedule an appointment. Until then, they had been willing to work with us, but that is no longer an option. They sent transfer paperwork, and the interaction felt dismissive and rude, which made the situation especially disappointing. I will not risk the possibility of vaccine injury for my children, as I personally know several people who have been affected. His practice is located on the third floor of the Heathcote Health Center medical building - located at the western end of Heathcote Boulevard. I went in for my initial meeting/consultation to scope him out - liked the overall vibe of the Doc and his practice and went with him. We hadn't scheduled any appointments with them in 2022 and at some point during that time period, they stopped taking our insurance. We didn't receive a notice or anything regarding this --which may not be much of a big deal, but it would have allowed me to look for another pediatrician way back then. It wasn't until about a week ago that I found out when I tried to make an appointment for my middle son and we found out they no longer took our insurance not when we made the appointment, but when the appointment actually was supposed to occur. The issue I have is that as a result I had to find a new pediatrician --which was fine I guess--, and when it came time to fax over my children's medical records, they said I had to pay a $25 fee before they would even send the records over. For some reason that REALLY bothers me because it is not MY fault they no longer take my insurance, but as a result, I am FORCED to find a new pediatrician so I shouldn't have to pay a fee to send the records to the new pediatrician because I have NO other choice! I could understand if so were requesting the records for a new doctor that I decided to change to of my own volition, but this wasn't voluntary. On top of paying the fee --which I did-- they said it would take a week or two just to get it to our new pediatrician. UPDATE: The doctor contacted me after seeing the review to let me know that her new front desk associate made a mistake by charging me the fee to have the records sent for the same reason that I didn't think I should have had to pay it (not our fault that the office no longer accepts our insurance). They reversed the charge for the fee and even sent the medical records the following day instead of the one to two weeks that the associate I originally spoke to quoted. The doctor was very kind and supportive in making sure all issues were rectified and even offered to still see our kids somehow if we were running into difficulties finding a new pediatrician that would accept our insurance.

He actually spent a good amount of time with me, was very knowledgeable with covid and seemed to care like no other dr I've ever seen.
