There was a young girl's softball team with fast pitch machine; a mixed co-ed group and an elderly gentleman group all practicing batting consistency. It is fantastic for the community to offer an outlet for all age groups to practice softball and be part of a team. It was very nice to be able to watch the players while just exploring the area. But mostly, I love the military veteran's memorial. What a tremendous tribute to service members and capture of Commander in Chief quotes throughout the various military conflicts in this nation's history. Spectacular memorial found in McDonough, Georgia. It is a must visit if on the area.

Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center is a protected wetlands area…read more They are only open M-F 8am to 4pm. There are three trails: blue loop = 1.2 miles, red loop = 1.3 miles and orange loop = 7.7 miles. I tried to navigate the red loop and got lost. But that is not unusual for me. It ended up taking me 2.5 miles. I really like this place. The trails are well maintained, plenty of restrooms (port-a-potties) along the way, and gorgeous scenery. Whenever I get a chance, I plan to frequent this place. Besides trails, they also offer educational classes to learn about the area, wildlife, water conservation and more. Come check them out, they are near Noah's Ark in Locust Grove.

In fact, most of the park is dog friendly, as lo g as they're leashed. We had a great time meeting other visitors while filling up water jugs from the spring. The park rangers were all very friendly, and visitor center had some items on display, as well as, a nice selection of items to purchase. There were a lot of people enjoying the water and relaxing on the rocks. They have a minigolf/putt putt area across from the visitor center, and a couple of playgrounds. Bathrooms were clean. Although we didn't visit the campground area, we did see it from tbe road. It looked nice, and they also had cabins. There are also plenty of picnic areas. You do have to pay for parking or pick up a pass, and there are park rangers giving out notices for vehicles without passes. You can scan a qr code or or pay at the visitor center.

In fact, this was their 45th year celebrating Groundhog Day. The gates opened a little prior to 6am and there was plenty of parking. The restrooms were right next to the parking lot and not only were they clean...they were HEATED, which was so wonderful since it was about 25 degrees outside. It was a short walk to the festivities, less than a half mile, but it was through the woods (VERY CLEARLY marked!) and over some wooden boardwalks (not sure how handicap accessible this is but it was an easy walk for this out of shape girl.) Everything was well maintained and looked beautiful even in the dark. We were able to see a bald eagle and another hawk close to the groundhog enclosure. If it would have been a bit warmer (the pond was frozen over!) I would have loved to stay and see more of the animals. Especially the otters. This girl LOVES otters. There was quite a bit of merchandise available: stuffed groundhogs, bracelets, a variety of buttons, several different tee shirts, and magnets. We bought a few items and entered the raffle to win a gift bag that included the original copy of last years proclamation. It was a really cold wait for the 7:31 proclamation time, although the park did pass out hand warmers. I think we could have waited a bit longer but since this was our first time, we had no idea how big of a crowd to expect. I would guess that there were 100-150 people. Being so early, we were right up front but I think we would have been about to see if we had gotten there a bit later. All of the employees (volunteers?) were very nice and helpful. We met many people who do this annually and there were even news crews here. It was very fun and definitely worth attending. We will definitely be returning but only when it is absolutely warmer! Ps. Don't waste your time coming here to play pickleball; and I mean that literally, because you will…read morewaste your time. I came in this morning, signed in properly, and placed my paddle on game 11. They were on game 8. I waited 45 minutes like everyone else is supposed to, following the system that THEY set up. When game 11 was finally called, I walked up to find that one of the front desk attendants had physically removed my paddle from the rotation and set it off to the side -- completely away from all the other games, no explanation, no heads up, nothing. When I asked him what happened, he looked me dead in the face and lied. Told me he had "stood up and waved my paddle around" to call for me earlier and that I must have been playing in game 8 or 9. I was not. I had been sitting and waiting the entire time. Not only did he move my paddle without telling a single person, he then fabricated a story on the spot to cover it up rather than just owning a simple mistake. When I told him it was completely unacceptable to remove someone's paddle from the pool without notifying them, let alone lie about it, he talked to me disrespectfully and shrugged his shoulders like my 45 minutes of wasted time meant absolutely nothing to him. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. Zero apology. I picked up my paddle and left, and I won't be back. If this is how staff treat paying members who follow the rules, this place has a serious problem. Train your staff better; or at the very minimum, hire people who won't lie to your customers' faces when they make a mistake.

The size of the park was surprising, in that it did stretch on and on, so you'll get your steps in! Fields are the name of the game here. All sorts of multi-purpose fields for football, soccer, etc are all over the park. Sadly when I went, they were all closed for repair so I was unable to explore them. This is a dog friendly park, however like another reviewer mentioned, there was dog poop littering many of the side walks. It's not the dog's fault so please clean up after your pup! There is a little trail called the heart healthy path where you can walk on and walk through wooded areas. It's really serene and pretty, AND each completion of the trail nets you 0.25 mi, so going 8 times around coul work. Parking here is absolutely no problem as there are lots for days. There's also a nice children's play area for the kids and I saw a few bicycle riders on my visit. Basically there's a lot you can get done here. Best park i've Ever visited? Nah, but if you live close and like getting some fresh air, I bet you'll find yourself here from time to time!

Located a few minutes West off of I-75 down Jonesboro Road, the Nash Farm Battlefield is a large…read morearea of greenspace with a few buildings. Spending a brief time here for a maternity session, we walked through the grass and around a few buildings, finding many a picturesque backdrop for our photos. Even with the remnants of Tropical Storm Karen coming up on us, we still had beautiful weather and time enough to shoot some lovely pictures. With the photos, I find a growing interest in getting a better knowledge of the history of the area and the buildings. Sadly, despite the vast expanse of fields, there was a sign proclaiming "NO PETS," as we drove in, so I can't recommend it for an afternoon with your pup.

This park is another reminder of the civil war. It is also mainly just a farm. Although we did…read morenot notice anyone besides one or two other patrons. We decided to walk the gravel path, which you could drive on, that makes its way past some old signage of the battle that occurred here. The museum was closed during our visit. Nothing was open but we helped ourselves around. I imagined the battle field. The open green fields lead to a gulch and beyond rises another hill in the distance. You can see the companies fighting one another here and bodies littering the grounds with young men. Apparently they have re-enactments and weddings here too. Worth a visit if you have the time.
