Kristen and Gary were so kind and helpful during a very hard time. Their care and support provided light in the darkest hour.

My grandmother, who lives in Windsor, was very sick. I live in California and heard Friday morning…read morethat she took a turn for the worse. I got the soonest flight, and as I was about to board the plane, I got word that my grandmother had passed. I just missed her. Because of this, I was immensely distraught and I felt like I had no closure. Saturday evening I found out that I could go view my grandmother's body. She was here at Mark's Funeral Home. Sunday morning, my uncle called and they said we could come immediately. I was fully expecting to see my grandmother in a medical setting, white walls, fluorescent lights, etc. However, this place goes above and beyond. Just for one person to come see their grandma, they put her on a hospital bed-type gurney covered with beautiful blankets and she had a nice blanket over herself as well. She was in the chapel where they do services, at the front, as if it was a funeral. They had soft piano music playing, and the lights were dimmed. It was all set up like this when I arrived. It was very tasteful - my grandma was in the nightgown she passed in and she looked so beautiful. I sat with her for about 30 minutes and told her all the things I wanted to tell her before she passed. The man working there - it wasn't Mark, as he was out of town - was so incredibly kind. He said he was a battalion chief in the county and was just a genuinely nice person who you can tell truly cared. He handed me tissues as I cried with my grandma and he and my uncle and grandpa chatted just outside the room. I felt I had privacy, even though they could see into the room, and that I could talk to my grandma and hug her without any judgement. Now, I've never been to a funeral home in my life. I don't know if this is standard. But I was blown away by the professionalism and kindness of the man working there and the business itself. I would highly recommend having your loved ones taken here after death, because they are well taken care of.

Communication is minimal to zero. Two weeks after my Mother was cremated, we still hadn't received…read moreher cremains. Voice mails left every other day were not returned. Finally after 3 family members started leaving voice mails every day, Mom's cremains were delivered. Now we are wondering when the obituary is going to be published in the newspaper and receive the jewelry we ordered. It has been a month now and of course we can't get a phone call or an email back. We used to recommend Marks to every one we knew, now we would say it's a hard pass. It's unfortunate, it used to be a great local business.

Super disappointed. My grandmother service was today. We met with them a few days ago to plan…read moreeverything. Hot mess! They were very disorganized. They told us they'd call the next day to finalize the bill. They didn't. They completely jacked up my grandmother's slide show. When we expressed our concern, they were complacent. The service felt cookie cutter, and didn't feel like it was what my grandmother wanted. She created all of her own funeral plans 25 years ago and created her pre-need arrangements. Back then, the funeral home was in Eaton and felt very personal. Now at the time of her death, it feels like a corporate "rush 'em in, rush 'em out." They even was $500 to steam her service to our family who couldn't attend. It felt like we had an intern setting all her arrangements. The only nice thing I can say is that their facility was nice, but that doesn't make up for their lax approach to our family. If I could do 0 out of 5 stars, I would! Take your loved ones to funeral home that will actually care about them!
