Your children will be surrounded by exceptional teachers with advanced degrees. They utilize the latest and greatest educational methods, and researchers are on-sight. It's very exciting to learn about their hard work and results. The Principal has a PhD that is also an expert in Early Childhood education. Dr. Renata Gusmão-Garcia Williams is a brilliant, captivating leader and the kids love her. Small class sizes, access to the latest technology, walking field trips to museums on UCLA's campus, agriculture programs with a Farmer's Market really excites the kids to grow and sell items to the community. UCLA Athletes come to campus from time to time to play and mentor these lucky children. They even get a Fit Day and utilize UCLA's athletic fields! Every culture is welcomed and celebrated. There is no experience that can match this. Any child at this school has a once in a lifetime experience to be themselves, and thrive. The Board of Advisors is filled with brilliant diverse people who love and cherish the school. You can drop your child off and know they are in the best hands. With 3 different camps under way, we were amazed at how well they met the needs of our young camper. Every week dove deep into a specific topic, detailing a wide variety of hands-on activities that kept our chlid engaged, curious, and excited to learn. The entire process--from registration to drop-off--was easy and stress-free. The staff were patient, and truly dedicated to fostering a love of learning. I was impressed also at the safety measures and attentive to details of the organization, this must be from years of experience. The best part is also having to run into friends by surprise in the same camp during the same week. We will keep Asteme in our enrichment corridor for camps, holiday day-camps, and regular enrichment courses during the year. Thank you!

The school founder, Allan has created a community in which students, parents and teachers support each other. Special recognition to Hogan, Angel, and Jordan for the extended commitment to educating children. It's wonderful to be able to send our children to school, knowing that they will be safe, inspired to learn and thrive. My only complaint is that I didn't discover them earlier! My children's complaints are that their school year is not longer! (They followed the private school calendar, which is shorter than the LAUSD calendar). The school and the teachers are true gems.

I would have loved to have sent my child here as I really liked the vibe I got, the staff I met and…read morethe curriculum, but even with what little tuition assistance is available, it's still way out of financial reach for non wealthy parents. I'm a single parent, an essential "blue collar" worker, and I cannot even afford to buy a 1b1b in my own city let alone have my child receive a fulltime Jewish education. Additionally they here really tone deaf things on their website imo (I hope the staff sees my review and realizes I don't mean any bad intent). It says "tuition made affordable". Elementary school tuition is just under $33,000 and that does not include a required temple membership or any of the other fees. They also have listed to "reach out to grandparents and other family members for additional assistance when appropriate". That really rubbed me the wrong way as to me it suggests to me that that I probably have family who could help me pay for it year after year. My advice to any parent or parents in my situation who aren't the stereotypical MOT living the good life in the 310, apply to every LAUSD school that you are interested in through school choice. While the schools you will likely want your child in will have a lottery with hundreds of families competing for spots, you have a chance of getting 1 of them as from what I understand from moms I know. I'm planning on doing this along with enrolling my child at a nearby synagogue for Hebrew School once a week and supplement this all with family events through Chabad and the Jewish Federation. It's not what I wanted ideal but I have limited options.

The SEL curriculum and Cool Tools reminds me a lot of UCLA Lab's approach -but without the tuition. Last year my other son started kindergarten. He's young for his grade so we decided to repeat kinder and got full support of the faculty and staff to do this - they really listened to us and allowed us to lead what we knew was best for our child. The Faculty is also very diverse which was important to us - we were looking for a school with strong BIPOC leadership and CWC is exactly that - amazing folks for my kids to look up to and aspire to be like - that look like them. One thing I wish there were more of, is the arts - but we are working on it - it's a community with so much room to create and imagine a future. We are so happy we found CWC and aren't going anywhere!

Do not send your children here, it will take a turn for the worst.

Geffen is very academic, but without being cut throat competitive. The teachers are accessible, communicative and genuinely care about their students. The weekly wellness class focuses on things like mental well-being and stress management. I wish every school offered this. The emphasis is on the students at Geffen, not their wealthy or famous parents. School culture and decisions made by the administration are based on scientific research in order to provide a thoughtful and humane school experience. There is also a lot of diversity at this school - not just by race and culture, but by interests too. It's a great fusion of kids and it seems everyone can find people with similar passions and hobbies. My kid is very happy here and loves his school.
