We had a very poor experience with Warneke, in both the quality of their work and their customer service. We took in a pair of slacks to be dry-cleaned and a white broadcloth shirt to be laundered, starched and pressed. Neither appeared soiled in any way, but we wanted them to look their best for an interview. The shirt was new, worn once. When my boyfriend picked them up, the slacks were scorched, and the shirt had an obvious yellow stain around the collar. He saw this after paying, and the person at the counter wasn't willing to do anything. She said if he wanted them re-done, he'd have to come back later to speak to the manager. The manager took no responsibility for anything! Warneke had mistakenly washed, starched and pressed the slacks instead of dry-cleaning! We assumed that had ruined the slacks, but she eventually agreed to dry-clean them and see if that helped. She said the stain that had appeared on the collar must be sweat, and there was was nothing she could do about that. My boyfriend by now was pretty upset about the clothes he had planned to wear to an interview the next day. When he persisted, she finally agreed to launder the shirt again, but said the stain probably wouldn't come out. He wore something else to the interview. Thankfully (amazingly), the pants looked fine after dry-cleaning. The shirt still had a yellow stain around the collar. I used a bleach pen on the stain and washed it myself. After being washed, dried and pressed twice, the stain was presumably set, but it was at least 90% better after I washed it. Shouldn't a professional cleaner know how to remove a stain? I would have assumed collars were pre-treated, assumed the person doing the pressing would notice if a shirt wasn't cleaned, and assumed that the person at the counter would offer to redo an item if the customer pointed out a stain at pickup. Three major problems: they didn't clean the shirt or pants properly in the first place, they didn't offer to correct their mistakes, and they didn't apologize or accept any responsibility, even after we went back to see the manager. Everyone makes mistakes, but the way they handled the mistakes was unprofessional and unacceptable. I was really shocked. read more
