I purchased a Level 3 comforter in the summer. We had just gotten a larger bed and I wanted to get it out of the way, knowing we'd need it in the Fall. Now I'm using the comforter and I'm freezing. There's nothing in it. I didn't even think to check it in the summer, so this is my mistake - but Warm Things is refusing to exchange it. I am not asking for a return, just an exchange as obviously there was a mistake somewhere when it was sent. Had I purchased from a larger, reputable dealer, rather than trying to support the local economy - I wouldn't have this problem now. Do not trust this company and do not purchase there. read more

Ordered these pillows, advertised as: "German Batiste Extra-Fill White Hungarian Goose Down Pillow (Level 4)... 800 Fill Power White Hungarian Goose Down. Made in our Northern California Headquarters from the finest Hungarian goose down and German batiste shell. " Received two pillows with white casings through which numerous dark spots could be seen inside the pillows. Upon first glance they appeared to be dirt, but a closer inspection made it clear that the "White Hungarian Goose Down" was deceptive as these pillows were filled with down & feathers from an unknown origin. The label states these pillows are filled with "White goose down (minimum 90% down)". This is deceptive and unacceptable as Warm Things advertised one thing and delivered a product that clearly is not as advertised. This is the response from customer service: "The label is a bit confusing. I have asked the owner why they cannot change it. The 90% minimum does not refer to 10% down. In California if a filament of down fiber is a certain thickness is not considered down. Although there are no actual feathers you can fill, under a microscope it is different. Thus, the reason for the percentage. With any down batch of down just like humans they come in different colors. Sometimes you will see a dark down piece in the pillow. There are to labels on the pillow. The smaller one does say it's from Germany for the fabric. I hope this explain your questions. If not feel free to reach out to the owner. " I am not confused. I love Warm Things... It's not for the faint of heart, or the shallow of pocketbook. They do have great deals, but their really nice stuff is really expensive. I have been pleasantly surprised there, and I have been disappointed; right now I'm thrilled about the cotton blanket from Peacock Alley $175.00+. And I'm so disappointed about this year's line of Fleece bathrobes ($39.99). If I lived in cold country, I would buy lots of down bedding from Warm Things, but I would get less items that are expensive rather than the discounted items. Oh, and I love the sheets! I just had a very unpleasant experience here for the second time. The first time was 2 years ago. Customer service was lacking then but, I got what I wanted and left and didn't put to much thought into it. Just now I went in and there was 1 man who was helping another couple. I patiently waited my turn. I was disappointed that while I was waiting he did not acknowledge me in any way. I almost walked out then because that is a major pet peeve of mine but, I went in there for a certain item so I decided to wait. When it was my turn he was very rude and condescending to me. I explain to him that my husband is from Europe and that we have our bed set up European style where we both have our own down blankets. I asked him if he had the covers for them in stock. He said he did not know what I was talking about which was hard to believe so I pointed to a down blanket that was hanging on the wall and said "I am looking for the covers for these types of blankets". He said "those are for baby cribs". He knew exactly what I was talking about and I don't know why he would choose to treat me that way. My family and I have been shopping at Warm Things for years. My most recent purchase was a pair of medium weight goose down pillows for my mother, which I found out are made right here in San Rafael. It's great to see a company able to produce at least a portion of their products locally. My bed is currently dressed with sheets, comforter and cover, pillows and sera-soft blanket all from Warm Things. The prices are reasonable, particularly in comparison to some of their larger competitors. I recommend these guys to anyone who enjoys having an extremely comfortable bed. However, be warned, you might have trouble getting out of it in the morning. read more

What a disappointment! We have driven by this place many times. We finally stopped in today. I figured this would be just the spot to find good quality, reasonably-priced gifts for my family living in Minnesota during a year when they are having a REAL winter. Everything I touched was made in China. Quality was ok but not great. Walked out within 5 minutes empty-handed and disappointed. Do not order online with warm things. If you want to exchange or if you need customer service, it will be a nightmare. Due to their unfriendly policies, I lost a lot of money which they refuse to refund. They have a blame the customer attitude and refuse to take any responsibility. The quality is unbelievable, completely superior to anything I found looking at department stores. Josh helped me out and was super knowledgeable and helpful. Even though it was busy, he took the time to explain the differences between all the down options to me. The one I ended up with is the BEST, most luxurious bedding I have ever slept in. My recent purchase from Warm Things was online and I ordered a medium weight down comforter along with a duvet cover just yesterday (8/19/10) in the morning, and I'm going to get my purchase today (8/20/10)! Talk about fast!!! I would have gone to the Warm Things store, but they must have downsized as their Palo Alto Town and Country store is no longer there. Having checked their website, the Palo Alto store is no longer listed; too bad because they use to be in Menlo Park in a warehouse area, then they moved to Palo Alto. Anyway, the comforters from Warm Things are affordable and long-lasting. My light down comforter is still in use and I purchased it from Warm Things in '95; subsequently I've bought 4 more down comforters ranging from light to medium weight. These comforters last a long time and I don't see them giving up their use anytime soon. To maintain these (although I don't do this as I'm not as fussy as some people may), just shake the comforter out, and hang it in the sun to refresh and air the down, and that's it. My comforter stays in a liner (to prevent dust mites), and I then stuff it into my duvet cover. Easy. read more

So disappointed!! The quilt I bought leaked tiny feather particles everywhere. Feathers floating in the air. Feathers covering our clothes. Feather parts all over the carpet. We'd wake up in the morning covered in itchy feather bits. I took it back to have it replaced since it was only 6 months into the 5 year warranty and was furious when I was told that it wasn't leaking enough and that some leakage was normal. I placed my orders by telephone and the items were mailed to me. First, the customer service is outstanding. Employees are friendly and take their time on the phone to make sure that I know all of the options available and make a good choice. If I want to return something, they take it back without question. Recently, I exchanged a pillow cover for a different color. They did not charge me postage for sending the substitute item. Items arrive more quickly than promised. Second, the quality of goods I have purchased is very good to outstanding. The more expensive grades of pillows, comforters, and sheets are the more outstanding items, of course. I love their cotton/silk blend sheets! I bought slippers online for my family, remembering the awesome feel of real sheepskin slippers. It was only after my family members wore them for awhile that we realized that there is nothing -- or very little -- that is real sheepskin in these slippers. The uppers are suede cowhide and the lining is synthetic (despite the tag)! False advertising all the way around. Their response? "The ad said sheepskin/suede, so I should have known." beware beware! they are adding duck fearthers with the goose down to their products...... i have been a customer for many years but no longer. over the years i have bought blankets, pillows, bath robes and have always been able to wash and dry them . until this year when i purchased more blakets and to my surprise when washed and dryed my home smelled of duck feathers. yuck!!!! washed item several times but without good results. the bottom line is they have added duck feathers to their blankets because of the cost of down now. i give this store a zero in customer care watch out! tried to return items but they wont except responsibility. i have four other items......i wouldn't give this to the homeless!!!! read more

I first used Warm Things before internet buying existed. The products were made in the U.S.A. and they were outstanding for their quality and effectiveness. In fact, stuff I bought then, is still good today. I wrote a glowing review twenty three years later for their website, and they posted it on their home page. Last year, I bought a replacement down robe for my wife, and noticed that it was not as full as the old one. We live in Los Angeles, where the weather does not get that cold, yet my wife shivered and soon packed it away and brought out the old robe which was much warmer. I had also bought a down blanket that is neither fish nor foul. It's too warm in summer and not warm in winter. So, be advised that if you want real performance, buy the heavier weight comforters, don't bother with the robe or blanket. Compared to years gone by, I have to say that Warm Things has slipped quite a bit. I dislike the use of Chinese manufacturers. I do wish they had stuck to American makers. It would be worth the price and show loyalty to our countrymen. read more
