Finally getting a chance to write this review! I wasn't a patient here but my boyfriend was... to my surprise...lol! We were ON VACATION from California! He chipped his tooth a day or two before our vacation smh and I did not expect him to make an appointment, at a random dentist office at that! Upon entering the office, the two ladies up front were very nice and friendly. He filled out some paper work and was in and out of there in no time. While I waited, the ladies gave me some great suggestions of where to eat around there. Every person that came in was greeted like they've all known each other for years. The environment was nice to be around. He said the dentist was really good, and nice, as well. I believe him, cause I can hear him speak from where I was sitting every now and then and he sounded pretty cool, and chill. You can see from the photos-- He did a good job. You can't even tell the chip was there! I'm glad he set up the appointment because otherwise he'd be smiling like that chipped-tooth photo in every photo! Concordia did find that they deliberately overcharged me and demanded they refund my money! It is likely a common occurrence at this office beware!!!! They have retaliated against me by no longer taking myself or my wife as patients. These kind of people hate to be caught doing their illegal billing practices. read more

He always thoroughly explains the pros and cons to me. His current staff includes a fantastic office manager, Lesa Kimble who is amazing. The young women who clean my teeth take their time, and do a superb job of cleaning my teeth and always remember to numb before beginning so I feel no pain. Where do I even begin. It started with the receptionist being so kind, and accommodating. Immediately offering scheduling preferences to plan accordingly around my care. Clear and concise about how to arrive to the dental office. I was called back, the dental tech and the Doctor were so professional, kind, and empathetic. I had 5 fillings done and a cleaning. Dentist made sure I was nice and numb. Reassuring me along the way. Dental tech was experienced and kind, working with the dentist like a fine tuned machine. I was in and out in under the amount of time they originally estimated it may take. I'm so appreciative of the work they did on me. Dr. Wardwell continues to be the most caring, conservative and gentle dentist I've ever had (I'm 72). A tooth with 4 fillings in it recently chipped. Rather than adding a 5th filling to an already fragilely structured tooth, a cap was suggested. It went very well and I was out of there under an hour with my temporary cap (and looking gorgeous by the way!) :) His assistant Violet along with Ellie his hygienist and Lisa the office manager are welcoming, compassionate & efficient. It is a treat to have Dr. Wardwell and his excellent staff work on my teeth. I have been going so long, we have become personal friends, rather than having an impersonal procedure being done. He has some personal stories that make the procedure that I can relate to, so I'm very at ease, which makes what would be sensitive occurrence, pass with little discomfort. The only drawback is the "challenging" parking garage, but the view from the chair of Tantalus and Round Top Drive is calming while waiting for any anesthesia to take affect. read more

It is of course paramount to know that you are receiving the best care possible, yet it is also a tremendous relief to never have to worry that the best judgement is being used in decisions about one's healthcare. I love this dental office. I was new to the island and looking for a great practice and great fun I found them. I looked up reviews and this office which had glowing reviews from not only the patients but also Honolulu Magazine which awarded the practice it's Best Dentist award. All staff including Dr. Wardwell are very sweet and knowledgeable. When it comes to procedures, they don't try to diagnose you with unnecessary treatments just to make a dollar. Ambiance: Dr. Wardwell and the whole staff were very attentive towards their customers' well being. As soon as I entered the clinic, I was greeted like I've been coming there for years (it's my first appointment!). The receiving lounge was not crowded. Clients were already ushered in their individual treatment rooms. The treatment room was very cozy. and the huge glass window was picturesque and calming. Treatment: the dental tech and the Dr were very attentive and gentle with each procedure. i received a very detailed teeth cleaning. I was given precise information about the status of my teeth and different options on how to go about future treatment, what is urgent and what can wait. I was also given information on cost saving option. Front desk: I was given all the information needed for the current and future visits. Breakdown of future visit and why each step was important. Overall: You know when you go to any offices, you'll get a casual-friendly greeting. At Dr. Wardwell's clinic...you'll get that plus a warm-cozy-genuine vibe. This guy is NOT OKAY! He is not experienced in measuring & installing Permanent Bridges. He put in a 3-tooth bottom lower Bridge which was oversized as I have a small jaw & it never fit properly. I repeatedly told him from the beginning & he tried to correct it to no avail which exasperated him from day one. I bit the side of my mouth every single day for 2 years when eating. When I told him about this after the 3rd visit, he told me to chew on the other side of my mouth. Not only that, he put in a Crown on opposite bottom lower side of mouth. When the Dental Hygienist was to clean my teeth, she reviewed the X-rays & discovered that I had a cavity on the upper right tooth which he did not see! Perhaps the Hygienist knew what kind of Dentist he was. She had him fill the cavity & he became disgruntled as I was interrupting his reading of Surfing Magazines & eating Chocolate at his desk per the Hygienist. When she was to clean my teeth, she blabbered the whole time about her boyfriend & didn't even clean my teeth...I kid you not! Much to my chagrin, the Bridge, Crown & Filling lasted only 2 years & cost $5,000 or more in 2012 with Insurance! Imagine how much money that is today for shoddy work lasting only 2 years! If you value your Dental Care & need to have some serious work done, I suggest you do thorough research on the work needed & on the Dentists in Hawaii! Grrrr! read more

Finding a new dentist always seems like an impossible task. There's very little data to make an informed decision. The best you can usually do is find out how old they are and what school they graduated from. After doing my research, I opted to try out Dr. Wardwell. I am very happy with the results. My wife had some fillings done, and she's very happy with the results. They don't do amalgams here I don't think, but the prices are very reasonable for resin. The staff are very friendly and willing to answer questions and accomadate you. Unlike many dentists, I didn't feel like any unnecessary work was pushed on either of us. Dr. Wardwell takes a conservative approach and prefers to wait and see rather than doing anything hasty. To me, this is a sign of a dentist concerned with you and not his revenue stream. GG, Dr. W... We have been going to Dr. Scott Wardwell for 8 years now after trying three other dentists when we first arrived in Honolulu. Dr. Wardwell is THE BEST dentist on this island. I like him so much that if I ever move, I'm going to try to talk him into moving, too. Too many dentists here--even when you tell them upfront that you are not interested in "transforming your smile" for $10,000--are focused on cosmetic stuff instead of the functional issues that we come to a dentist to have fixed. Dr. Wardwell gives you all your options and always tries to keep the cost reasonable while doing what you need to have done.
