I've been with Dr Suehiro for a couple of years it seems. Before that, it was Dr Watanabe since my late 20's I think. Since he retired, Dr Suehiro took over the patient base and been here ever since. I do enjoy my visits to the dentist nowadays, since it's become apparent that the good doctor and staff loves to hear about my marathons and various places I travel to - to do them. I'm currently on a quarterly appointment system. I don't know why it's like that, but it's been like that for a while. I never asked why since most average people do semi annual appointment scheduling. The typical appointment starts with my arrival. I usually greet Dr Suehiro's secretary in the front and sit down till it's time for my appointment. It's nice to have the bathroom there, if you need it before or after the appointment. After the dental hygienist comes down and greets you, you follow them to the examination room to get your teeth looked at. Sometimes, your teeth get X rayed. It's all electronic and digital now. It's pretty crazy. The entire process takes about 45 minutes of cleaning, flossing, and general self care. It's nice to look at all the dentist and tooth related materials posted on the wall of the examination room. After the cleaning portion of the exam, I would be asked to schedule an appointment for the future. Then Dr Suehiro would come in 5 min later to perform an examination of my teeth as well. That usually takes less than 10 minutes before he leaves the room. That's usually it. I would then leave and schedule my appointment with the secretary and be on my way. Since Dr Suehiro is a 2 time marathoner, it was nice to share with him my exploits and travels to different marathon event venues. I think that he enjoys hearing about it every time I come in. The overall experience here at Dr Suehiro DDS is as good as it can get - as it pertains to dental office visits go. One moment that stuck out with me - on a previous visit in February / March 2018 - was when I came into the office for an appointment, Dr Suehiro and staff presented me with a faux lei with a note to congratulate me on my 100th marathon/ultra finish. I thought they went above and beyond and I never expected that during my time here. I did mention it to them prior, but didn't realize they would do that. Just had to share that. It made me smile for real. The overall typical experience here at Dr Suehiro DDS dental office was nice and short. Thankfully most of my visits here were around 1 hour and was out of there to tackle the rest of the day. I prefer Saturday morning appointments, usually around 8am. Sometimes, I would have weekday ones also. Dr Suehiro is located at 901 Punahou Street. They are about a block away from Washington Middle School and the Jack in the Box on Kalākaua Ave and S King Street in the heart of Honolulu. They accept most major health coverages, but best bet would be to check with them to see if it's good and legit before signing up. They accept credit cards, which is always a good thing if you don't have cash. They have private parking options, for y'all who drive. I think they have enough for 20 spots at a time. If you are like me, bus routes 1, 1L, 2, 2L, 3, 9, and 13 come through the area, although you would have to walk a block or two from the bus stop to the dental office. For the most part though, dental visits is an important part of overall health and a great smile. I've come to trust Dr Suehiro's expertise and the fact that he's run more than one marathon only helps the experience further along. If you are shopping for a dentist in Honolulu or looking to change dentists, consider Dr Suehiro DDS. I definitely would recommend him as being one of the best dental professionals in the business! Your smile and teeth will thank you for it. The staff here is quite friendly and i got to know them over the years. Its almost like family, especially when I've been here for the last 15 years. Take care of your health and your teeth and it'll take you places far and wide. Definitely a dentist you can trust for your oral health needs.
