I have always understood policy but our experience was dealt with rudeness and no compassion. I would be careful in having this clinic care for fur babies. Especially being in a remote area with an emergency we experienced. This is what I responded back. Dear Dr. Hassan, Thank you for your reply. I understand you were away and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. That said, I do feel deeply let down by how this situation was handled--especially after nearly seven years as a loyal client. To clarify, our last physical exam was only 1 year and 2 days prior to my call. I was not requesting something new or outside the norm. In fact, you have filled metronidazole in the past without a current physical, as a precaution for our travel, based on our established history. This time, I even administered a home giardia test that confirmed the diagnosis, and two veterinarians in Colorado stated that your clinic could have called in the prescription based on the past record and relationship- and they would have gladly filled it. Instead, I was met with cold responses from your front desk, no follow-up from the covering veterinarian despite my request, and ultimately no help during an urgent situation. We are currently transient and the nearest emergency care was over 100 miles away. I did everything I could to act responsibly and quickly, but was completely unsupported. I understand the need for policy, but I also believe compassion, flexibility, and consistency should play a role--especially when dealing with long-time, responsible clients and sick animals. Sadly, this experience has changed the trust I had in your practice and moving forward.
