I went for the satay and can I say these were amazing, as the satay were lamb you'd think that they would give that lamb smell but these tasted like they were cooked in a nice open flame (which you can taste) along with their peanut sauce ! Now usually they give you tiny little satay sticks but these guys were quiet generous:) And if you look up on the wall you'd see them on the newspaper which shows you that they mean business when it comes to the authentic Indonesian taste! Now the place is quiet small and wouldn't be able to fit very many people, I guess that's why I gave this place 4/5 unless you're fairies then you'd be prefect ! They do have different specials on every week so don't be shy and ask what's the special for the day is cause maybe you'll be lucky to land on a day where they make yellow rice ! (I know it sounds strange, but trust me it's HEAVENLY !!!!) So explore the spices out there Aucklanders, there are more hidden gems to explore !

(Cause sharing is caring ) also if you are up for it, I recommend you have the food with chilli :) or sambal (which is what we call it) And on the side it's near a milk tea shop which is also nice to have with your Indonesian food :D HAPPY EATING

Specialising in Malaysian & Indonesian cuisine, the waitstaff at Golden Tulip are happy to help and recommend dishes. The menu is extensive, as with a lot of Dominion Rd eateries! With classics such as Char Kuey Teow, Mee Goreng, Beef Rendang and Nasi Lemak, the closest you'll find to a Laksa is Curried Laksa Noodles. We plumped for a Mongolian Beef hotplate, Assam Prawns and a Hainanese Chicken. Each dish was a very good example of it's type, without being mind-blowing. The prawns were particularly good; plump & juicy with loads of the salty, sweet Assam sauce. The servings were huge, so we ended up taking the leftovers home. Golden Tulip & it's close Dominion Road neighbours Cinta and Santhiya's are giving Malaysian food the reputation it deserves. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the menu!
