I just googled Ward Manor to check out the pictures of the addition that they made to their venue and was very surprised and sad to see a set of poor reviews they had received from a recent wedding on both Yelp and Google. Our daughter was married there a few months ago, and it was a wonderful experience. I had posted a review three months ago on Ward Manor's Facebook page, and I'll now post it here just to make sure people get as many reviews as they can.
I don't know the details of what caused the bad reviews except for what I read. I would like to comment on one of the criticisms--the fact that the bride-to-be felt she had to clean the tables and chairs the day before the wedding. This venue is basically an outdoor venue. The proprietors are professionals and know what they are doing. If the tables and chairs were cleaned in advance, there is a good probability they'd have to be cleaned again the day of the event. We had the rehearsal at Ward Manor 24 hours before the wedding--just the rehearsal, not a dinner or anything following. We had not gone near the place in advance because we knew everything was going to be fine. When we arrived for the rehearsal, I was a bit surprised to see how much still had to be done. But then I thought of the other events that I had been to there, and I knew all I would be wonderful. They were running around busting their butts, and we left them alone so they could work their magic. And they did. Thank you guys, again. The following is the review I posted on Ward Manor's Facebook page on June 16:
On a scale of one to five stars, I'm going to have to give ten stars for the wonderful wedding venue/dinner Michael and Matthew (and Tina and Sam) provided our daughter and son-in-law last week (6/7/14). The natural beauty of the area is breath taking. What they have done with their landscaping is show stopping. Everywhere you turn is a wonderful backdrop for pictures. We, the bride's parents, are the only ones that reside in this area. We are fortunate to count Michael and Matthew as friends and have attended several functions at Ward Manor. We encountered only quality at these events and were thrilled when the bride and groom-to-be quickly agreed to have the wedding here. I knew it would be a stress-free event for all of us, and it was. The only stress was deciding which menu options to choose. For further comparison I'll add that we retired here after 30 years in the military where we attended many first-class dinner events. The wedding was as good as the best of them--actually it might have been better than the best of them.
The B&B was also rented for the bridesmaids to stay in for a couple of nights. They enjoyed their stay thoroughly and can't wait to return.
Thanks again for the wonderful memories! read more
