I have been a long time advocate of chiropractic care, and I have been going for a long time seeing many different chiropractors. I have not had much luck finding a new chiropractor after my chiropractor decided to retire right before Covid hit us. I was looking but not that hard for a new chiropractor when my mom was passed the name from her orthopedic. Often times with chiropractic, the adjuster needs to be large and strong enough to get every part of your back. My current one did a great job adjusting the neck, however fell short adjusting any other part of my body. Dr. Ward was able to get the upper portions of my back as well as my neck adjustment. I started taking my son Eric to the Ward Clinic to be treated by Dr. Steve Ward in 1991. My son had Duchenne muscular dystrophy. We were from the Midwest and took him to specialists in the treatment of muscular dystrophy at top rated medical centers there. Eric was ten years old at the time. We were told there was nothing they could do for him and he would only live to be eleven to thirteen years old. We continued our search for a cure and found out about the Ward Clinic. We took Eric there to be evaluated and treated. At the time, Eric was very depressed and we were also by what we had been told about the possible length of his life and the lack of a cure. At the clinic, we were greeted by a very upbeat staff and especially Dr. Ward. Xrays were taken and shortly afterward treatment began. We began regular trips to see Dr. Ward. After a short time, Eric's attitude and ours began to change about his condition. He began to improve with his treatments and he became much more confident about his future. He went on to complete high school and college. He also took part in physical activities like swimming that he had given up on. The treatment Eric received from Dr. Ward was incredible. Eric maintained his positive attitude and functioning abilities to the very end. Eric passed away at age twenty four. We credit Dr. Ward with adding the thirteen extra years to Eric's life above and beyond what we had been told by the medical specialists we had taken him to see earlier. Dr. Ward is a gift to humanity. There is no brief conclusion speaking to the capacity of his healing gifts. Allow me to expound.... He's been my chiro over 20 years. Spanning two decades he remains devoted to all patients. His strong interpersonal skills are distributed equally to every individual who walks through his door. He instinctively meets each patient on the level where they are at. His unwavering devotion has been at his own personal expense at times as he refused to quit caring for us even with a broken back. Through his own unimaginable pain the only words you hear from his lips are Dr. Wards positive speak towards healing and understanding of self. Before the day he graced my life I had seen four different chiropractors in my life span. I understand why the moniker, "quack-a-practor" , was attached to this field. I mention this because my early experiences were met with abrupt and violent adjustments. Typically, I found myself hurt further and repeatedly being told that "I won't adjust". Insult upon injury was the hefty bill to pay for all the ineffective treatments. Skeptical, but desperate I met him and learned of his unique "wall adjustments". Wall adjustments??? One of the first words out of his mouth were, "You can't adjust the neck before you adjust the spine". This was a foreign concept to the others. My first wall release shook me to my core; as a life time of emotional/physical pain released. The trauma and unpleasant things we repress manifest in our chiropractic challenges. The next day I woke up feeling emotionally cleansed, feather light in my soul and out of pain. I had to pinch myself to make sure I had not transcended into the next world as it had been a long time since my earth presence felt like this. I was on steady ground for a few years when at a pivotal time in our history my health began to spiral. Going forward I experienced 11 surgeries over the next 3 years. The pandemic was not an ideal time to find yourself facing large medical issues. The first mammoth surgery that I faced was a mastectomy. The cold morning of I was dropped off at the curb walking alone through the eerie silence of the hospital. Arriving at the surgery center you could hear a pin drop in the reception area with the invisible fear of Covid lurking about. Every ticking second felt acute knowing the next time I heard my name called it would lead to a moment that would change my life forever. Waiting, waiting.... My surgeon was over two hours late as she forgot about my surgery and went off to a meeting. Still, I felt a sanctuary in my mind. Dr. Ward made me two voice recordings on my phone - one pre-surgical and one post. The goal - to frame the surgery and outcome with optimal results. Meanwhile, I experienced an additional blessing while I waited. A second patient arrived facing the same surgery. We were divided by a pillar and never saw each others face. She was only 31, mother of a young son and had been up crying all night. Repeatedly she remarked "all I want to do is see my son again". In this moment of divinity I channeled the words of Dr. Ward. She became soothed, felt calmer and could now imagine a good recovery. More importantly, she could see the promise of more loving times with her little boy. I claim no credit in this transition. As far as my surgeon forgetting about me, I continued to meditate on Dr. W.'s words until she arrived. This surgery was non negotiable and thanks to my strong state of mind I was able to show her empathy for what a difficult time it was for us all. I forgave her and said, "Let's go have a good surgery". I never cried about my loss pre or post surgical and can say with honesty I wasn't operating in denial. Dr. Wards powerful insights to "re-framing" trauma and fear gifted me an excellent outcome. Equal to his exceptional ability to adjust the bones is his mastery of understanding of generational trauma and healing. You needn't give him a history lesson on your family ; nor clue him in on the psycho dynamics of your immediate life. He will read it all in a heart beat as he adjusts you. Through his adjustments he teaches you how to re-frame that which plagues you. This is coming from a girl with 30 years of therapy under her belt. I still believe in therapy; but this man is the final word on stepping past the trauma. He explains "that we need to rewrite our genetic code". I think it important to share that I have lived my life through a filter of childhood abuses. Trusting doesn't come easy for me. I often wondered if I would ever be able to shed that history and find out who was really under the layers of that toxic blanket that was my childhood? Today, I walk mostly in my own skin - living what I choose to create and not someone else's dysfunction imposed on my life force. What a pleasure coming to this facility. I live in San Diego. In August 2023, I had a rib go out of place. When I sneezed, it was extremely painful. It felt like having a wooden spoon jabbed into my back, the handle end, not the spoon end. My chiropractor tried several times over several months, but he could not get it back in place. I learned to live with it, since it only hurt when I sneezed. In April 2024, I was visiting my sister in Long beach and I sneezed. She saw my pain and told me she was sure her chiropractor could help me. Thankfully, Dr Ward is open Saturdays. I found it interesting that he does back adjustments using a wall, not the adjusting table. I could tell by the many cracks I heard that the adjustment got some movement in my spine. Same with my neck. Dr Ward had me sit with ice pad on my back for 10 minutes and told me to come back in 2 hours for another adjustment included in my initial fee. Who doesn't love a 2-fer. On my return visit, Dr Ward again got many cracks from my back and neck, indicating to me I needed the 2nd adjustment too. Very pleased and felt much better. Dr Ward does not take appointments and does not take insurance. I have insurance with a $10 copay for chiropractic, but since my chiropractor could not get my rib back in place after 6 visits, I know the fee for one visit to Dr Ward was money well spent. Drove an hour to see the Dr because he was highly recommended by a family member & her friends. I went to him a few times last year & each day I went, I had 3-4 sessions throughout the day (a couple hours apart). Although there haven't been permanent fixes, I would go back again because the adjustments/treatments did help & he's got really powerful energy & practical advice (without medication). He completely caught me off guard and called me out on my behavior/character, which I wasn't expecting at all. I came in for shoulder, lower back & neck pain. He said I had ribs out of place (which isn't an easy fix), one leg was shorter than the other. He said it's all mental (manifested).
