Only other way to get there is a 7 hour ferry ride or to fly to anchorage and drive 15 hours (through Canada). My flight was as at 8:30am, which was a rookie error on my end. These little planes do not fly in fog and due to poor visibility I sat in the airport until 3pm where they gave up and told me to come back tomorrow and try again! Booked the same flight for the next day and came back and early in the morning it was foggy but the fog burned off by 10am and we made it. Do t bother scheduling a flight BEFORE 10am! No need to go through security/TSA. They call your name and you walk right out on the runway. Plane had 4 seats (half the plane is used for cargo). Flight was AMAZING and well worth the wait! We flew Pretty low to the ground with amazing views of this beautiful area. Views of the water and mountains. Makes you thankful to be alive!

This was my second visit but my first flight in. Our flight was smooth and comfortable, an easy flight both directions. I would give a shout-out to all the staff. I must call out Gary, our pilot though, he made sure to cover all the official stuff, but also made the flight special because he was as excited as we all were to see the mountains and fjords. Before takeoff all the passengers chatted happily and we will all be sharing pictures from our flight. Thanks again Gary and AK Seaplanes.

Let me start by sharing that I am terrified of heights. But, unexpectedly, I had a weekend to…read morefill or stay locked up in my hotel room. Keli, the concierge at the Baranof, told me how great this tour is and, moreover, how great Gary is (he's tge owner/pilot). And I heartily agree on both counts! This is a must do! Gary picked us up at the hotel and drove us plane side. The plane holds him and three others. We took off and suddenly you are seeing the area from a whole new vantage point, and it is spectacular! We flew up the Gastineau Channel past Juneau ans Douglas, and then turned left, thru the mountains and then began the tour over several glaciers. AWESOME! Gary answers questions, offers some basic info, but mostly lets you just take it all in. Somehow more amazing when the only aound is that of the plane. After flying over several glaciers, you start back towars Juneau and you're back landing in the water at the airport before you know it. I felt safe the entire hour in the air. If you have the time, this is a must!
