What a fun and amazing day. My group absolutely love Unplugged Adventures Jeep ride. The iPad directions, narrative and stories were super interesting. This was our 6th time to visit Juneau and driving out to all the beautiful locations was a highlight of our cruise. The folks at UA were so helpful and accommodating. Ok so this review is so well deserved. My wife and I visited Alaska for the very first time on a cruise. We pulled into Juneau and the cute little town is full of shops etc. we wanted to see the real sights so we asked a local what to do. She said rent a Jeep and drive and we are so thankful she did! This new small business rents you a brand new Jeep with the coolest app it gives you multiple scenic trips to try with approximate times it will take and then as you go to these spots it talks to you explaining where you are, the history behind each spot etc. without them we would have been stuck doing the same things everyone else is doing. Unplugged allowed us to see the real Alaska and at a very small cost! They rented us the Jeep so fast I think it was like 5 minutes max and we were on our way. I would like to thank you unplugged for allowing us to make memories we will never forget and highly recommend to anyone who wants to get out of the tourist trap and truly see the last frontier! 100% will do this a few times this summer!!! I work in the Jewelry stores up the street and I had my day off and took complete advantage of my day off with the this!!! I even want to pay to have the app on my cell phone just for learning about Juneau the Audio tour is amazing!!! They really took time and a ton of effort into making the app and it proves it. HONESTLY when I first heard about it I thought it was going to be a basic video guidance but man the GPS system is amazing!!! Little updates can help like zoom feature to check the rest of the route over the map but it's awesome even has MUSIC when there is no interesting tour to talk about. read more

I honestly think it's the best way to go see the glaciers and stop at all the location that you would normally do on a tour bus.( not crowded, your time, your music) Great price especially if you are a large family rates are around $275 jeep rental for four hrs... they do offer discounts for people on the cruises. The employees are great I hope that they are added to the cruise line as a tour.. the weather canceled our dog sledding but luckily we found this place!!!!! It is hard wired through the stereo which is wonderful for all passengers to be able to listen to the tour information. Highly recommend this excursion. We had a really, really great experience with Unplugged Adventures. We live in Alaska and decided to visit Juneau. We tried to do it without a rental car but decided that one day we wanted to visit Mendenhall Glacier as well as Auke Bay and the rest of Juneau. We were walking toward a rental car office by the docks when we saw a bunch of brightly colored Jeeps. We stopped and decided to rent a Jeep for 8 hours. It even came with gold panning equipment! (We were there very early in the tourist season so I think we got lucky to get one without reservations.) The surprising highlight was the iPad guide program. It gave directions and it also provided a narrative about Juneau's history and it's animals and landscape. It was very interesting and entertaining. The saddest part of the day was when we had to turn it back in! Juneau is lovely and while there are cabs, Uber Lyft, and shuttles, they are pretty pricey. There's a great bus system but it's pretty limited (in times and location). Having a rental car for the day was great - it was super fun to drive a Jeep and we learned a lot about Juneau while enjoying the fabulous area. The guys who worked there were very nice and helpful as well. Seriously, if I could give 10 stars, I would. read more

Amazing! I am so glad we decided to rent a Jeep from this company. It took no time at all, it was right across the street from where we got off our cruise ship. We walked over there and in less than 10 minutes we were off to explore Juneau in our Jeep! They have an iPad with an app ready to go for you in the Jeep. You tell them where you would like to go or what you are wanting to see and done, it's set up. It's easy and also narrates about the places you are going. Very interesting and so much better than sitting on a tour bus with a bunch of people. We got to go places at our own pace and see what we wanted. The owners are very nice and knowledgeable! PROS: Very easy to rent; in less than 4 minutes, I was out the door with a new Jeep and an iPad as our guide. The narration on the iPad was exceptional. The reviews are ALL true! On a recent cruise, we wanted to avoid the large groups so we grabbed another couple and rented a jeep for a few hours. The rental process took all of 10 minutes, between signatures and choosing the best jeep color. The owners are very knowledgeable of the area. We told them we were there to see scenery and didn't care about the normal tourist stops. So they setup an itinerary of stops based on our preference. The iPad gave audio tours related to the stops your choose (think 'walking tour' in a jeep) which was very well done. We saw rows of bald eagles and amazing coastline because we were able to quickly get out of the crowded downtown area. Just book it and go see Alaska! read more

Initially, I was looking at the $309 Jeep rental through Princess. But, we found Unplugged Tours for about another $120 (which included all gas and insurance). For reasons I will explain, I thought the rental through Unplugged was a better deal than through Princess. Unplugged is an easy walk from the ship, and for not much more you get the same Jeep for eight hours as opposed to four hours (Princess). You are really paying for the ipad though. The ipad is pre-programmed with a four, six, or eight hour tour. We did the six hour tour and it took us eight hours after stops and eating in town. The ipad never got us lost more than one street over, and it remained connected via satellite the entire day. Also, as we would near a destination, the ipad knew it and gave a little tutorial/briefing on what we were about to see. All in all, I liked it. If you want to save cash, you could have done the exact same route by doing your own research and plugging the destinations into your phone. BUT....cell coverage gets bad at the end of the road in Juneau. Sooooo, it is a bit of a trade off. Ultimately, I'm glad we did it, and driving around Juneau at our own pace was one of our favorite parts of the trip. read more

first of all, my husband and i new that buying anything from our cruise line would be stupid expensive, so we decided not to buy a tour in advance and just take a walk in Juneau insted. untill we stumbled accross the jeeps. when we inquired we were amazed of how cheap they were for a car full. they did not charge per person. and the ipad navigation system was awsome. we got to get away from the crazy crowded lil town and explore the real Juneau. there was gold panning equipment in the back and one of the stops it recommend was perfect for gold panning. we herd of people on the boat paying $2000pp to go see bears, and we drove straight passed bears on the way to the glacier and got better views than other people that day. (another spot the ipad recommended). and you do not have to follow the path set by the g.p.s but were it took us was obviously well planned out and researched so i would probably recommend following it. the jeeps were new, clean and easy to drive. super fun and deffinetly worth it. we were told we were lucky to get one by just walking in, so maybe give them a call before getting into Juneau. but you might get lucky like we did.
